The actor who plays Sheldon Cooper, Jim Parsons, also happens to have experienced a big nuptial moment of his own recently—tying the knot after a relationship that's already gone 15 years strong. Jim showed his ring on The Late Show during a visit on Thursday and told Stephen about the significance of marriage to him now—and how he was pleasantly surprised by matrimony.
Jim and Stephen also swapped notes about life after getting hitched—and the conversation got pretty deep!

Of course, Jim isn't just starring on The Big Bang Theory. This fall, you'll be hearing his voice on Young Sheldon, a comedy about the early life of his popular character. The new show will have a special series debut on Monday, Sept. 25 at 8:30/7:30c, following The Big Bang Theory, on CBS and CBS All Access. Jim told Stephen about the genesis of Young Sheldon, the relative who helped inspired it, and revealed how he pitched it to Executive Producer Chuck Lorre.

The new series stars Iain Armitage, and both Jim and Stephen sang the young man's praises. Oh, and Jim explained the unique agreement Iain has with his mom to allow him to be a child actor.
The interview wrapped up with some discussion of how Hurricane Harvey has affected Jim's home state of Texas, and Jim talked about the tough decisions his family had to make in the evacuation process.
