Initial Reaction
"I don't have words for it."
Wake Up!
"Jack [Smith, Co-Executive Producer and Co-Head Writer] called me at like 5:20 in the morning. I was asleep, and I never have my phone by my bed. But I went to sleep in front on the TV last night and I woke up because my roommates came in at like 2:00 in the morning and I did not want to deal with them. I had to be up early to do a bunch of stuff today before I came here. So, I grabbed all the stuff, half asleep, off the counter, went upstairs, threw it on my bedside table and crashed. So when the phone rang at like 5:20 AM, I'm looking at it going, 'Uh oh, why's the studio calling me? Am I in trouble? Did they switch the scenes?' I picked up the phone and was like, 'Hello, I'm not in until 11:00.' [Laughs] I thought they were moving me up or something. But once he said 'champagne,' I knew something good was coming."
Choosing Scenes
"I'm not quite sure what I'm going to submit for the next round. But the first one [I submitted] was a scene where I confronted Christine [Lauralee Bell]. Then there were some scenes with Ashley [Bashioum, Mac] at the end. I actually picked [the scenes] myself. But I think I'm going to want some help with the second one because now I don't know what to do. [Michelle Stafford, Phyllis] actually told me if I needed any help, she would absolutely do it for me. I appreciate that".
Spreading The News
"[The first person I called was] my mom, my dad. It went, Mom, Dad, then my brother. Then [I called] some random friends."
Dealing With Nerves
"My mom kept talking about it as much as I just wanted to just forget about it. I didn't want to really think about it but it seemed like everyday, someone was bringing it up to me. I was like, 'Stop it, cut it out.' I think it's really funny, because when I woke up this morning it really was the farthest thing from my mind when you wake up out of a sleep like that. It's exciting news."
Ringing Off The Hook
"[My phone] hasn't stopped [ringing]. This is absolutely the first time it's stopped this morning. Managers have been calling. They're ecstatic."
What An Honor
"I just come here and try to give 100% everyday. When I got the pre-nomination from [Y&R], I thought it was such a great honor that they would consider me for something like that. And then to get [the Emmy nomination] today, it just blew me away. I'm so happy for everyone here. We have such an incredible pool of talent here."
Celebrate!
"I've got a six and a half mile run ahead of me. [Laughs] I think I'm going to try to hold off and celebrate this weekend. We have some people coming in from New York, some of my roommate's friends. He already called me because his wife watches the show all the time. She gave him the news and he was pretty ecstatic and said, 'Let's go out Saturday night.'"
