CBS.com: Where were you when you found out about your nomination?
BRYTON MCCLURE: I was actually in bed asleep. [Laughs] I was asleep this morning and Charles Sherman (Bryton's publicist) actually gave a ring to the house and let my mom know the news and she came in and woke me up with it. So, it was a pretty nice wake up call.

CBS.com: That's great. Did you know the nominations were going to be announced this morning?
BRYTON MCCLURE: I did actually. I knew they were going to be today. I didn't know the exact time when they'd find out or how I would know.

CBS.com: Did you go to bed nervous last night at all?
BRYTON MCCLURE: The fact that the show acknowledged me to be pre-nominated was an honor for me to get that respect from my fellow actors and actresses. But I was hoping that Y&R would do well overall. I'm very happy for that.

CBS.com: What was your first reaction when your mom told you?
BRYTON MCCLURE: I thought I was still asleep. I thought I was dreaming. [Jokes] Nah, I was very, very excited. I still am. I'm still trying to absorb it all.

CBS.com: Especially because you also just got nominated for an NAACP Award. What does all this mean to you?
BRYTON MCCLURE: It's all a little much for me. All I can say is that it's just an honor to be recognized among so much great talent within all of Daytime television especially on my show. I go to work with some of the best of the best. I'm relatively new to the Daytime scene. It's only going to be the start of my third year on the show. I spent nine years doing primetime so this is all new to me. But it's definitely an honor to be acknowledged for it. It's also a push to want to continue to try and get better and better and improve with every day at work.

CBS.com: What scene did you submit for consideration?
BRYTON MCCLURE: I submitted a scene with Victoria Rowell [Dru] and myself having a one on one speaking in the coffeehouse. It was me speaking about my mother and her going through rehab and getting clean. I was talking about memories I had of her in the past. It was a real genuine scene that I thought was not too bad.

CBS.com: How did you choose that scene?
BRYTON MCCLURE: There were a few shows throughout the year that I keep in mind and like to tape myself to just look over and learn from. When I found out that I was prenominated that one stuck out in my mind right away. I didn't spend a lot of time going through a lot of tapes. It just kind of stuck with me throughout the year.

CBS.com: How will you celebrate your nomination?
BRYTON MCCLURE: I'll just go out for a nice dinner tonight and just kind of take it all in. Like I said, I'm still a little speechless about it.

CBS.com: I bet your phone has been ringing off the hook.
BRYTON MCCLURE: It has. A lot of people from the show and people from the daytime world congratulating me. It's been unreal, but it's a lot of fun.

CBS.com: What do you think of the awards being held in Los Angeles this year?
BRYTON MCCLURE: I think it's great. I think it's going to give a nice Hollywood flare to the whole scene. New York is always nice to visit too. I've been there many, many times, never for the Emmys but for this being my first one, I think it's kind of cool to be at home.
