CBS.com: Congratulations on your nomination.
MANDY BRUNO: Thank you so much. It’s wonderful!
CBS.com: How exciting it is for you, being a first time nominee?
MANDY BRUNO: Oh, I was thrilled. I, never in a million years dreamed that this would happen. I woke up this morning; it was my big day off today. I slept in. I woke up and thought, oh, The View is on, they’re doing the nominations. I should watch and see who gets nominated. So, I just turned it on just to see who got nominated this year and lo and behold, they said my name and I freaked out! I started crying and I called my mom right away. She was like, “What’s wrong? What’s wrong? Calm down, I can’t understand a word that you’re saying!” I finally tell her and she starts screaming and crying. She tells my dad because she’s in Oregon, hurry up and put on the VCR! We have to tape The View!
CBS.com: Was it special that your on-screen dad Frank Dicopoulos [Frank] was the person who said your name at the nomination ceremony?
MANDY BRUNO: Oh my God, it just means that much more to me. It was such a cool thing.
CBS.com: Have you given any thought to what you’ll be putting on your Emmy reel?
MANDY BRUNO: I have no idea yet. I said, today I’m just going to celebrate, tomorrow we’ll get to work because there’s still a lot of work ahead of us.
CBS.com: Any thoughts on what you’ll wear?
MANDY BRUNO: I have no idea yet. We’ll see. I have so many different ideas. I have a really close friend who is in the designing business who of course, the first thing she did this morning was call and say, “I’ll do your dress!”
CBS.com: Do you have a good luck charm that you might carry with you on Emmy night?
MANDY BRUNO: Oh, absolutely. I have a rosary that was my grandfather’s [that] I keep with me all the time. My grandfather was my biggest fan and my biggest supporter, right next to my own parents. And when he passed away that’s what I was left. So, I have that of his and I always keep it with me on important days.
