CBS.com: Congratulations on your nomination.
TRACEY BREGMAN: Thank you so much!

CBS.com: Tell me where you were when you first found out.
TRACEY BREGMAN: I was in my bedroom. I was watching the New York feed of The View. And there's a fire out in Malibu so it was one of those mornings where both kids were not in school, my husband was home and I was so nervous that I didn't tell anybody that today was the day [of nominations]. I didn't want that pathetic picture of a family surrounding this television set and we're like, "Ohh." So, I didn't tell anybody and my little son, who's nine, came into the room and said, "What are you doing?" And I kind of copped it to him and said, "It's the Emmy noms." He goes, "What?!" He crawls into bed with me and when it came to my category we both stood up and we held hands and they said the girl's name Jennifer Ferrin [plays Jennifer on ATWT]. I thought it went alphabetical. So when they said Ferrin I went, "Oh honey, I didn't get it." And I didn't realize it was alphabetical by show. I was the last one. I was kind of waiting to see, "Oh did Judith get it." I had kind of let it go for me. I was done, I was waiting to see if Judith got it. And then when they mentioned my name we both went [Screams]. My husband literally walked through the door as they mentioned my name. He was just coming upstairs and he was like, "Oh my God!" Then my other sons downstairs were like, "What's all that noise?" I said, "I didn't tell you but I got the nomination!" It was really cool that everyone's been with me all day.

CBS.com: What scene did you submit?
TRACEY BREGMAN: It was the proposal.

CBS.com: Did someone help you with your choice?
TRACEY BREGMAN: Yes. That was not my first choice. When I watched that show Christian was so amazing in it that I considered it his show. I never thought of it for me because I just loved him so much in it. But what was really cool about the entire process was that Christian [LeBlanc], and Sharon [Case] and Michael Graziadei and Greg [Rikaart] and Kathy Foster and Marnie [Saitta, Casting Director] and I all watched each other's work. We watched all the potential and especially even one night we all sat around in a conference room. We watched everything and that's how it was chosen and everybody chose that for me. I was like, "Are you sure?" [Laughs] So, I followed everyone's direction.

CBS.com: Was there anyone else that you called since you were with your family to spread the good news?
TRACEY BREGMAN: I called my mother. She was very excited.

CBS.com: Now that the Emmys will be held in L.A. will you be able to take your family?
TRACEY BREGMAN: Oh yeah, I plan on my sons and my mother coming with me.

CBS.com: What do you think about the Emmys being held here for the first time?
TRACEY BREGMAN: Very interesting. You know I've had a series of firsts. I was the first actor to ever win for The Young and the Restless. I was the first actor to ever win in the ingenue category because it was brand new. So, hopefully The Young and the Restless is the first big winner in Los Angeles.

CBS.com: Will you choose to submit something new this time around?
TRACEY BREGMAN: Well, I don't know. It's definitely going to be by committee again because they did really well the first time. And I'm just going to show a few people my shows and let them choose.

CBS.com: What will you do to celebrate your nomination?
TRACEY BREGMAN: Well, I went and had a tostada with my husband and a root beer. [Laughs] That was enough. Actually what's been so amazing is all the phone calls. That's been the most fun.

CBS.com: Have you spoken to any of the other Y&R nominees?
TRACEY BREGMAN: Absolutely. Greg [Rikaart] texted me instantly. I woke Graziadei up to tell him he got nominated. It was so lovely because a lot of the actors from the show have been calling me all day. That means so very much to me. I've even gotten phone calls from General Hospital people too. It's just tremendous.

CBS.com: It's great to know you have the support.
TRACEY BREGMAN: As I said, that moment that time with picking the show and everyone being there and every actor, not just the pre-noms, every actor coming up to me and asking "What are you submitting? This is the show I like." It was just so great.
