as the world turns
CBS.com: Congratulations on your Emmy nomination.
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: Oh, thank you, I appreciate it.

CBS.com: How does it feel to be a first time nominee?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: It's really crazy; it actually hasn't [sunk] in yet. It especially feels good after such a long and intense summer.

CBS.com: ATWT swept the younger actor category.
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: It's really awesome. It's great to acknowledge all four of us, and it's great to be a part of it. They are all so talented.

CBS.com: Where were you when you found out?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: I was at work. It was actually kind of anti-climatic because they didn't announce my category on The Early Show, so they said look online. I was with Jesse Soffer [Will], but nothing was online yet. We were in the make-up room and then we were called down to the production office and they put Alan Locher, our publicist, on speaker phone. He was like, "Congratulations on your Emmy nomination." We were like oh okay, we just got nominated. It was kind of a bummer. I think it would have been a lot more exciting to hear our names live on television.

CBS.com: What scenes did you submit?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: I submitted the episode where Maddie is telling Henry about Louis, and how he raped her. It was a bunch of scenes in the limo.

CBS.com: And now you have to select another episode.
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: I do. I was in today speaking with the producers getting their feedback. I need to figure out what I am going to submit. I think I want to go in a different direction than the limo scenes. Something funnier, cute, maybe something with Casey.

CBS.com: Did the producers help you pick out your scenes in limo?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: Well, they compile a list of your episodes, and that one was on it. But I made the final choice, and I really liked those scenes.

CBS.com: Who was the first person you called?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: My mom. She was really excited. Then I called my dad at work and he was flipping out.

CBS.com: Did you do anything to celebrate?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: It just worked out that my two best friends from back home were coming up for spring break Wednesday night, so it was just great to have them there. It was nice to share it with them. We went out and had a great time.

CBS.com: Are you excited to travel to Los Angeles?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: Of course, it's great to be out there. It's going to be crazy this year.

CBS.com: Do you have a lucky charm?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: No, I don't. But I am going to bring my parents, so they are my lucky charm.

CBS.com: Have you given any thought about what you'll wear?
ALEXANDRA CHANDO: Not yet, I have some time. Last year I wore a printed kind of funky bright dress. And I think this year I'm going to try to go a little more sophisticated and plain.
