brytonthe young and the restless
CBS.com: How does it feel to be nominated?
BRYTON: It's an amazing feeling. Second time, it never gets old. It's a very big honor. CBS.com: Did you have a restless night anticipating the announcement? BRYTON: No, you know I slept really well. I had to come into work early today so I got in about 7:00 [am] and I ran into Kristoff [St. John, Neil] at the Artists' Entrance and he was like, "Congratulations!" I had no idea. I was like, "Oh, I got nominated?" [Laughs] CBS.com: When you hadn't heard early this morning were you thinking, "Oh maybe I didn't get nominated." BRYTON: Well, you know to even be in the running for it, to be pre-nominated by my castmates is always a great thing to show that they appreciate your work and they think it's worth being up there. So, being nominated or not, I wasn't really working myself up about it. CBS.com: When you found out did you call your mom? BRYTON: Oh yeah, I called my mom, my whole family. My whole family is really excited. I've been getting congratulations from everyone on set. CBS.com: Does it become this highly energetic day for you? BRYTON: Yeah, because all these people are just coming up to you saying, "Congratulations, congratulations!" It's cool. CBS.com: What show did you submit? BRYTON: I submitted the show where my biological mother left. It was her last show back in early 2006. CBS.com: Did you have help choosing the show? BRYTON: You know what? I kind of always had that scene in my mind for a long time. It was actually one of those days and I didn't really expect because I was feeling so horrible when I was taping those scenes. I was sick as can be and I didn't think they were going to come out that great on my part. But they were really good scenes. I love them. CBS.com: What's the next step in this process for you? BRYTON: I'm trying to think [of what to submit]. I thought I had it in my head of what I wanted to submit if I were to get nominated but now I'm kind of going back and forth. I don't know what I'm going to do. I'll get the people's opinions. CBS.com: Knowing how big a part your mom has played in your career, do you go to her for advice on things like this? BRYTON: Yeah, of course. Always. Your mother will always be honest with you. She'll always say what looks the best. Both my parents, my mom and my father always have been so supportive of what I'm doing and they're behind me. CBS.com: Does that support mean she'll also give harsh criticisms at times? BRYTON: I think I do that enough myself. I'm very critical of myself. I love to watch the show and learn from other people and see how I did in the scene and see what I could differently. This whole experience for me is about learning. I enjoy the process of learning about acting more than anything. CBS.com: That's great. When you first started you said that this was a good learning experience for you and it's nice to hear that it still is. BRYTON: Oh yeah. I think with anything, no matter how many years in whatever profession you're in, if you don't enjoy growing in it then you shouldn't do it. That's how I feel. CBS.com: What will you do to celebrate your nomination? BRYTON: I haven't even thought about it yet. Maybe go out for dinner or something like that with my family and just enjoy the day. |
