CBS.com: Congrats Gina.
GINA TOGNONI: Thank you! CBS.com: Where were you when you heard about the nommination? GINA TOGNONI: I was downstairs in the makeup room logging on to cbs.com just to see who was nominated. We were jumping around for Ricky Paul [Goldin, Gus], Kim [Zimmer, Reva] and Crystal [Chappell, Olivia]. I was sitting there and our publicist Cristin came in and was like “congratulations.” I jumped out of the makeup chair and was so excited. I haven't talked to my brother yet. My mom called and spoke with our show publicist, so I have to call her back. I was nominated for the first time last year and I got an Emmy and that was really enough for a lifetime. CBS.com: How does it feel to be nominated again? GINA TOGNONI: It’s wonderful, nothing is really like the first time when you're nominated. It was such an exciting time and experiencing everything for the first time as a nominee really meant something to me. Now, turn around and be nominated again it really is a validation of writing and just a great team of people at GL. When you have a good show and get nominations across the categories it feels great. The tapes that make it and get nominated have all the elements - the writing, acting and the actors on point and the camera work and writing really click. And we have 17 nominations! It’s wonderful. I really think the show has just been blossoming over the years and I really have [Executive Producer] Ellen [Wheeler] and [Headwriter] David [Kreizman] to thank for that. CBS.com: What scenes did you submit? GINA TOGNONI: Scene when Dinah becomes unraveled after she believes Mallet has been dishonest. She’s at the bar at company and lets loose. She feels she can’t trust him she just lets it all go. When I saw what was written I got really excited for all that I could do “in the moment.” Dinah doesn’t give a damn and gets on top of a table and lets loose. They give me lots of leeway of what to do and that was good. It was a good tape, a good show. CBS.com: Are you looking forward to going to Los Angeles? GINA TOGNONI: Yes, I always have a great time and it’s a good excuse to party with the show. Our team knows how to party, and with Kim Zimmer leading the pack, you know it’s going to be crazy. CBS.com: Did you do anything to celebrate your nomination? GINA TOGNONI: I had dinner with friends in Hoboken and my boyfriend was with me. I may go out and buy something as a little present to me. I always get excited when I have an excuse to buy something. CBS.com: Will you have a good luck charm with you? GINA TOGNONI: I have a necklace that a dear friend gave me and I wear it everyday. It’s a crucifix. So I’ll plan on wearing that. CBS.com: Have you thought about what you will be wear? GINA TOGNONI: All I’m saying is that I am going to show some skin. I’ve been criticized for covering my body these past couple of years. I have loved my dresses but, I get critiqued. I’ve been working out and seeing a nutritionist so I think by June 15 I am going to be ready to rip. I just need to have a dress that doesn’t wear me. |
