Outstanding Drama Series Winner!
THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL received the Emmy® Award for 'Outstanding Drama Series' at the 36th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards last night at the historic Orpheum Theater. This marks the first win for THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL in the series' 22-year-run on the CBS Television Network.

Created in 1987 by legendary television producing and writing couple, the late William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, at the invitation of CBS, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL is now helmed by their son, Emmy®-Award winning Executive Producer, Bradley P. Bell, who also serves as the Show’s Head Writer. “I’m thrilled to have won our first Best Show Emmy in 22 years,” said Bell. “It was wonderful to have my mother, co-creator of B&B, next to me, and I know that my father was there with us in spirit. We could not have accomplished this win without the hard work of the cast, crew and staff of THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL and the support of the entire daytime community.”

It was Bell’s inherited writing talent, along with his esteemed writing team, that scripted the Emmy® Award winning episodes involving the troubled and emotionally-wrought “Stephen ‘Storm’ Logan, Jr.” (played by William deVry) and his ultimate sacrifice to save his youngest sister, “Katie’s” (played by Heather Tom), life by taking his own, and donating his heart to her.

In addition to Bell, the other B&B producers who received an Emmy® for “Outstanding Drama Series” are; Rhonda Friedman, Supervising Producer; Ron Weaver, Senior Producer, Cynthia J. Popp, Producer, and Adam Dusevoir, Coordinating Producer.

All five producers took the stage at The Orpheum Theater, along with the four original cast members Susan Flannery (“Stephanie Forrester”), John McCook (“Eric Forrester”), Katherine Kelly Lang (“Brooke Logan”) and Ronn Moss (“Ridge Forrester”) together with the entire cast, crew and staff of the Show.

Additionally, THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL also received the Emmy® for “Outstanding Achievement in Hairstyling for a Drama Series” at the Creative Arts Emmy® Awards, which took place on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at The Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles. Emmy® recipients in this category were Hairstylists Carlos Pelz, Kathy Weltman and Linda Dalbec-Rasmussen.

City in Italy Bestows Honorary Citizenship on Jennifer Gareis
The City of Militello Val di Catania, Italy, on the island of Sicily, held an official public event on May 8, 2009 to grant honorary citizenship to actress JENNIFER GAREIS (Donna) and her family.

Gareis stars as “Donna Logan,” the wife of “Eric Forrester” (John McCook) and sister of “Brooke Logan” (Katherine Kelly Lang) on THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

The ceremony was the culmination of three days of festivities organized by Sicilia Mondo, a worldwide organization devoted to the promotion and preservation of Sicilian culture. It was officiated by the city’s mayor, Sindaco Antonio Lo Presti, and attended by thousands of members of the public and numerous local press. A celebratory procession through the streets preceded the ceremony, with the Gareis family riding on an ornate horse-drawn Sicilian cart, accompanied by the music of a traditional Sicilian band and a medieval flag-waving troop.

During the procession, Gareis and her family were besieged for autographs by the throng, and many handed their small children to Gareis to hold for photos. After the ceremony, Gareis saluted the crowd with cries of “Viva Militello!” as fireworks lit up the sky.

THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL is the most successful foreign dramatic serial in Italy, broadcast weekdays on national Italian broadcaster, Canale 5. The series and its cast enjoy high-profile celebrity status there, owing to this phenomenal long-lasting ratings success.

Gareis and her family made the trip to Italy in order to get reacquainted with their Sicilian heritage. Following an investigation some time ago by Gareis’ mother, who with the help of locals, traced family ancestors back to Militello, the family was able to find and contact descendents of Ms. Gareis’ great-grandmother, Sebastiana Tringali.

While in Militello, Gareis visited a local bakery, where she assisted with the baking of local specialties, and spent time serving the locals and getting acquainted with her relatives at her uncle's local café-bar, Bar New York.
