NCIS

This is a thread for those who don't want to see any romantic pairings on NCIS. No McAbby, no lawyer woman for Gibbs, and definitely no"TIVA". Here we can concentrate on the plots, the characters, and the show, without it all being gobbled up in some long ship discussion. This thread is for those people for whom "NCIS" does not = "TIVA". It's for those who think romance is best left to fanfic and who much prefer the show to provide subtext for all and text for none. It's a thread for those who found that the Jeanne/Tony and Hollis/Gibbs scenes in S4 slowed the plots down and were boring - and also meant we had less time with the rest of our fabulous ensemble cast. Ditto the silly Tony/Ziva restroom scenes.

I totally agree about Mann and Jeanne. I found S4 really boring and kept wondering WHY when I'd loved S1 and S2 (and to a lesser extent S3) so much. Then I realised it was because they had to keep inserting little shippy things like Gibbs and Mann at the baseball practice, and Tony romancing Jeanne with dinner from the back of his car. Nothing wrong with those scenes per se - but they weren't what I was watching NCIS for and they ruined the pacing. Jetlag had some of the same flaws, and I know that if they made Tiva canon I'd stop watching because I don't find watching romances on this show remotely interesting.

I'm not keen on watching ANYof them having romances, not even Ducky/Jordan though I have no objection to Ducky saying occasionally "I'm having dinner with Jordan tonight". I'm just not interested in SEEING any of those scenes. I WANT the team interacting and having fun. I WANT team chemistry. I long for some good old Abby/Tony friendship and Abby/Ducky friendship etc. I loved the friendship between Tony and Gibbs in "Flesh and Blood" - I want more of that and less coy simpering over coffee in cafes and arch, knowing looks about who slept where in hotel rooms.

The only good thing for me about Mann were complete Gibbs objectification. Him in the sweats in the baseball scene and him bending down when he was painting the name on the boat and they showed his rear end. Yep, completely shallow on my part .Jordan calling him Donnie even had me quietly cringing, but I wouldn't mind Ducky mentioning her once or twice a season..I want the same thing you do. I want Abby and Tony hanging out, I want McGee and Tony showing bonds of their friendship. Ziva and McGee seem to be friendly, show us that. Gibbs and Ducky. Heck, even Tony and Palmer.

I don't care if they have outside romances that we hear about in passing but I want the team interaction back. Not courting couples.

I'd love to see more Ziva/McGee - and Ziva/Abby friendship too actually. I'd particularly love Tony/Palmer and Gibbs/Tony and Abby/Tony. It's what irritates me more than almost anything else about romance scenes - it cuts the time any other members of the team can have interacting togethr and it was THOSEinteractions that made me love NCIS so much in the first place.

I know what you mean completely. I just MISS Abby in general. She seems to be the one marginalized the most in the storyline.

I've actually got to the point of wondering whether PPis ill (she's lost a lot of weight recently - I assumed she was just being fashionable or following Sean Murray's diet but who knows!). Or she asked for less screentime for some reason. Because if it's just because the show is so obsesed by Ziva and Tiva these days then that's a real shame when PP/Abby has so many fans. I could have done without all the toilet invasions in Endgame and Reunion and almost ALL of Jetlag in favour of more Abby scenes. Not *McAbby* scenes. Abby scenes. Jetlag would have been far more interesting if we'd seen TONY and Abby riff off each other, or Ziva and Abby for example.

I don't know how welcome I'll be in here as I enjoyed the Mann and Gibbs romance, it was nice to seeanother side of Gibbs. Although I am NOT enjoying all the tiva crap that has beenpushed on us. I have missed Abby and Ducky, Palmer I can take or leave. I miss the interaction between Tony and Tim, it was nice to see that they were getting cases done working together and didn't need the princess to keep the world revolving. I want Gunny Gibbs back , I'm tired of PODGibbs and him having to be everybody's daddy. I want Senior Field Agent, former street cop, Tony back, not PODTony that can't funcion without the princess being velcoed to his hip. I want smart, capable Tim back, not snarky Tim. I want forensic scientist and slightly excentric Abby back, not five year old Abby that can't put two sentences together without saying somethin moronic. And last but least I want the princess gone. She's become more of a menance to the team and the show then any bad guy. The writers are so busy pushing her in our faces that it has lost being NCIS and Gibbs' team to become ZIS and ziva only ziva.

I've never wanted romance between ANY of the main characters as it will take away what the show is... investigating Naval/Marine crimes. I like it all in the background, like the mysterious redhead.

YAY! Thanks for making this thread! It's not that I'm anti-Tiva persay (although I am as long as Ziva has those unresolved issues that she needs to 'fess up to and make up for), but against onscreen romance.

I'm with woodcatz about not minding romance offscreen - after all, these people are human and deserve a little lovin' - which is how I saw Gibbs/Mann for the most part. I didn't like Mann in her first appearance very much, but later, I loved her.

Hated Jeanne because she was so not Tony's usual type. It's hard to fast foward through those scenes because Tony was there and Michael was so good that he outacted ST.

I've been wondering that too recently. It's a little scary to look at Pauley Perrette from even just 2 seasons ago to her now. Her hair's thinning out too. It's really noticeable when it's in pigtails and not braids. I'm assuming that it's from all of the dying/straightening for the past seven years, but who knows? We haven't had a good Abby-centric epsiode in a LONG time! I want to see an episode that's Abby and Palmer teaming up. They've both had the short end of the stick for entirely too long!

I won't mind Gibbs with the lawyer... if it's more of a physical thing than a "romance". I can see either/both using the physical attraction to their advantage...
