How many of you were brought to the show thru the marathons on the USA channel? I for one can admit wholeheartedly that those reruns of great episodes won me over....What did you love about those episodes? How has it changed how you view them now...the new episodes? Are they ringing true to our characters or are they trying to change the characters around...leaving out what brought us to Tuesday nights at 8:00pm?

.....

1. Angry Gibbs...we know what the second B stands for!

.......

2. Protecitive Gibbs, the man who always watched over Abby and Tony.

.......

3 . Goofy, yet smart, street wise Tony. The man who would put his life down for any of his team. The man who loves all women...especially if they have a heartbeat.

......

4.Our dear Ducky and his great stories.

.....

5. Our sweet Palmer and his naive way of seeing life and his close friendship with Tony.

.....

6. Abby...period.

......

7. McGee as the clumsy NERD and computer geek who always seemed to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

.......

8. And Ziva as a Mossad officer....who only filrts with Tony.....and that is all.

.....

I know..... I will get slammed, and maybe I should, but this show is not what I saw on the USA channel...it is attempting to change characters, make McGee a Tony wanna be and Ziva a diva. This isn't appealing for this viewer. I know I tuned in late but I came for a reason...to see the characters that I fell in love with on the USA marathons. I hope SB does read this...he needs to wake up or he will lose all of those who has given him a chance to redeem these characters and allow them to be the charactyers we grew to love....not the new and improved (and I laugh) characters they want us to swallow.

Sounds to me like you've nailed it. NCIS*isn't* what it used to be and that's very sad. I, too, found the show by way of the USA marathons. I was lucky enough to get sucked into an S1 marathon and after about 8 hours hit the web and bought all the then-existing DVD sets. Oh, man, that was fun! How awful these past two seasons have been in comparison. There've been some stellar highlights, but just a handful.

My name is NICKSFROEND and I am an NCIS addict. I too bought all the DVDs...every season...every one. I write NCIS fanfic in my spare time and at night I dream about our team... now that is an addiction !

....

But I can/ will change my addiction if they don't come up soon with a remedy for this insanity they want to call NCIS! Tim ain't Tony...so stop it! Ziva is a diva don't get it in my book! We need to make some changes....back to the old chemistry and stop trying to change what already works or did work!

I too became a fan of NCIS from USA's marathon. My fave seasons are 1 & 2 & most of 3 because the team actually investigated & solved crimes that involved Naval/Marine personnel on military bases, recruiting centers, on ships, submarines - all military installations. I also want to add the following to your list: I miss the mystery of Gibbs. I miss him building a boat in his basement. Does anyone else? We haven't heard anything about The Kelly since Abby cut her up in In Laws & Outlaws. He spent 7 years building her & now, nothing. I think that's so sad. I miss him drinking his coffee. I miss the mysterious red-head. I miss him bringing Caf-Pow to Abby. Heck I miss Abby.

I hated what they did to the Kelly. I feel like it was disrespectful, for some reason. I don't think SBrespects the show and appreciates that it gave him a chance to produce his own show.

Yeah,I miss Gibbs being more of a mystery. Iwouldn't have passed on meeting Jackson for anything, but we certainly didn't need to get the rest of what's been given. No clue why they trashed the boat theme, either. It was great and Ido miss it.

While dismantling the Kelly was perfectly in character for Gibbs, I do think you've pegged it. It was an opportunity for Shane Brennan to continue dismantling the show. He has never shown any respect for it or for the fans.

Great points!

.......

Let's add another point: The term Probie was a Gibbs thing under Franks.....and Tim's rank and affectionate term from our Tony......Ziva is much as much a Probie as I am a goat ...and I am not a goat.

I miss what the show was about in the early seasons. It was fun with a sense of humor and they all had chemistry together. The head writer should look at the first three seasons and go back to the old ways. They are not writing the characters the way they should be. Gibbs with mystery, McGee being a cute geek and Tony being a charming womanizer. I dont like Ziva to much focus on her the last 2 seasons. Time to give Abby and Ducky some focus./ Or just balance the show and not be so much Ziva. I think I much prefer Kate who I think was more likeable. The stories now are not interesting and hard to follow. and I especially miss Palmer. I do like that Tony has grown and is not such a womanizer but I dont like him lovesick over Ziva.

I for one love NCIS and I think if it has changed, it has changed for the better. I love Gibbs' sixth sense and his gut and his ability to lead his team in such a way that they love him, even when he slaps them upside the head. I love Abby's quirky sense of humor and how she cares for everyone on the team. I love the way Ducky commands everyone's respect with his wisdom and his well-spoken stories. I love how McGee is always trying to improve as a field agent, and is such a great geek, and how he gets along well with everybody. I love how Ziva holds her own, especially with Tony and matches him wit for wit. I love how Tony is goofy and cheeky but does what needs to be done when the time comes. I love NCIS!

Except... you don't get to see GIbbs' gut much, he's not leading his team the way he used to. You rarely get to see Abby now, same with Ducky. McGee doesn't get along with everyone, he can be downright rude and nasty to Tony. Ziva doesn't use wit, she uses insults and disparaging remarks. Tony is mostly goofy these days, where he used to be a good agent, his boss' trusted second who could be goofy at times. You're pretty much saying you love the old NCIS and the Ziva from Season 3.

I too came to love NCIS through USA marathons. Honestly I fell in love with the NCIS seasons I first saw, and these were all with Kate. I felt the team was much better, more chemistry there, and yes believe it or not, Gibbs was smiling and energetic. This season Gibbs gives the impression that he's just there. It all has to do with those new writers. I'm not blaming the characters.

Well, McGee isn't always that bad, but he has his bad days and Ziva encourages him. I liked overcaffeinated McGee, he was kind of funny. And sleepy McGee. I wonder how long he was asleep before he woke up and saw Gibbs, Fornell and Werth staring at him.
