I don't understand, why is he on the show? Since the beginning of TBBT they always make fun of apple and they are right, as good geeks they use non-closed source software. We know that Sheldon use Linux and windows and I don't remember the name of the episode but he said he loves Ubuntu. Linus Torvalds would have been a better choice. However, I hope that this picture means that Sheldon doesn't want to meet Wozniak in person, and I hope writers will remember that Sheldon, Leonard and Howard don't like Apple. It would be so disappointing to see guys saying they like Apple just because Wozniak is on the episode.

Absolutely, hope it involves some discussions of his old hacks - blue box would be interesting. Though dancing with the stars references would be awkward.

The problem is most people who watch the show don't know who Linus Torvalds is (probably including 99% of people who use Linux). It would be a lost reference.
Woz is at least "just recognizable enough" to people who watch the show. Just like Wil Wheaton. And he hasn't worked at Apple for over 20 years. I'm sure Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, and Rajesh would still appreciate the significant advancements to personal computing that Woz contributed to.
I'm embarrassed to ask... when did they specifically make fun of Apple on the show? I thought I knew the show better...

Sure looked like they were using iPhones in some of the episodes, and do I remember an iMac or Macbook in the background in an episode (product placement)?

well Idon't remember the dialogs exactly but I remember that Sheldon uses and the guy uses PC's (linux for Sheldon, he said that several times and we can see that on his computer screen). Raj is the only one to have a Mac and an Ipod. By the way Sheldon criticize this Ipod on the episode "The Staircase Implementation".
On an another episode when Sheldon is sad (I don't remember the name) Leonard and Raj asked him to go with them to the Apple Store to laugh about salesmen to cheer him up.
Finally, on the episode "The Einstein approximation" when Sheldon is working with Penny, he said exactly :
"I asked myself, what is the most mind-numbing pedestrian job conceivable, and three answers came to mind: uh, toll booth attendant, Apple Store genius...[...] and I refuse to contribute to the devaluation of the word "genius"
I know it's only little details but since the beginning of the show we learned that they don't love Apple. It's the only thing that bothers me, I hope this episode will match with the rest of the show.
And rothgarr, I think if people know or recognize Steve Wozniak that means that they are geek-enough to know who is Linus Torvalds. I tried to show TBBT to non-geek people they didn't like it because they didn't understand the jokes. So I really think that people watching the show and understanding all the jokes are geek-enough to know major contributors to the IT world.
Ps : yes, it's "just" a sitcom but a sitcom of geeks for geeks and you know what a geek is? it's just natural that we are passionate about this show and we want everything to match perfectly

If you pay more attention, you'll notice that in the corner of their apartment is a iMac sitting there but it's never used.
Also the cast have made fun of Apple on various occasions including the time when Sheldon was stuck on a problem and was looking for a less mentally challenging job. He said he didn't want to be an Apple Store Genius because he didn't want to participate in the degrading of the word 'genius'.

The apple haters are almost as bad as the fanboys.
"OMG I saw the name apple! This person was (Note: not since 23 years ago) associated with apple! I'm going to assume that he's exactly like apple as it is today, an enemy of geekdom!!!!!"
The guys liking wozniak would not at all be out of character. He is a geek icon.
If it was Steve Jobs appearing, then yeah I would hope the guys dislike him.
