dare2cc wrote: ok - point taken - but nevertheless - do you honestly think they'd make eating pork any part of the race if they had Jewish contestants?? So true...God forbid if someone's arbitrary religious rituals are offended by a healthy food such as pork but it's ok to threaten someone's health with sheep's lard. ahahah, so you obviously know nothing about kashrut. (eating kosher)It's not about being healthy, (although it is healthier) it's about being holiness, and following Jewish law...so, it's a little bit more important that being a vegetarian, I think. Besides, who says andrew and Dan even follow kashrut...not all jews do.

I also know about not eating meat on Fridays during Lent, and a variety of fasting rituals in many cultures and religions for a variety of man-made reasons and "laws". The fact that people think these arbitrary rituals are more important than health is what I find appalling, and is my precise point.

Of course they find it more important, it's their religion. Besides, what makes you think that the sheep they were eating was so bad.

Just curious....why were the frat boys allowed to go back and do the last leg over instead of being given a 30 minute penalty?

This episode was soooo sad My favorite team gone, and they tried so hard this whole leg even after they knew they might be out... I really thought they had a chance to catch up. CBS, you SUCK!!!!1) making a vegetarian eat meat (they didn't know it was an eating task, they were guessing along the way there)2) making the FF so far away that an AWESOME, STRONG team couldn't catch up3) not having it be NELI am not even watching the rest of this stupid season

Sad to see Sarah go but glad Terrence is goneWell my teams came 1,2 again...so yay for thatBut seriously people....the eating challenge...for any fan you know every year they have a fast forward or roadblock that invovles something (to most) disgusting but is a part of that countries culture. So for all those up in arms about it heres a couple reasons to get over it1) Its a tv show2) They sign up knowing what they are getting into3) The challenges are already made up WAY in advance (im sure CBS didnt go hmmm Terrence is a vege so lets do a FF that makes him eat meat so he cant do it)4) They couldve turned around as soon as they got there5) Seriously....is it that serious to get up in arms about? 6) Dandrew made a great point by saying...2 teams left for the FF only ones going to get it...so lets not go for it and try to get a cushion up on the other team who doesnt get it I do feel bad for Terrence...i eat meat and even i couldnt stomach to think of eating that. But dont make it a religious debate that CBS is doing this to get rid of teams...seriously...what about the season that the FF was drinking a glass of blood and Lori and Bolo did it. Does that mean they catered to the vampiristic religion? (and yes there is such a religion)I do think theyre something fishy though with Dandrew not getting a penalty...because if they couldve gone back why couldnt Mark and Bill? If youre a fan of Terrence and Sarah why not focus on this...they made up time because Dandrew...well arent the fastest team on the race

Without having read the "official rules" for TAR, using only logic and reason, here's my guess as to why the boys were given a "redo" instead of a penalty:It has to do with at what point the offense occurred. If it happens right at the end of the race leg/episode, and they have the ability to go back and do it again, then they will be told to do so. Otherwise a time penalty.Since Dandrew took the cab to the pit stop, it is easy to just make them go back to the beginning of the cab ride and walk to the pit stop. In the case of Adam and Jamie, er..., Mark and Bill, their offense had taken place much earlier in the leg/episode, so it would be impractical to make them go back and do it over, hence the time penalty.I vaguely recall an episode a few seasons back where the teams had to bring something (a Travelocity gnome?) to the pit stop and one team didn't. I don't remember what happened to them, if they had to go back and fetch it or were given a time penalty or whatever.

This has happened at least twice before,In season 7 both Meredith/Gretchen and Joyce/Uchenna did not complete the task correctly,it involved moving downed trees in Africa,Uchenna forgot to pull the post at the beginning of the trail and Meredith completed the detour but failed to get the clue,on arriving at the pitstop Phil told them both to go back and collect the post and the clue before they could check in.In season 11 Dustin/Candace completed the road block after just stumbling onto it and were again told they did it incorrectly, thus having to go back and collect all the clues, same as in season 5(?) with Chip/Kim and the stupid twins...If the mistake is made at or near the pitstop teams have a chance to redeem themselves.

Very good explanation, pcgh. Just to elaborate, the beauty queens in Tar-11, missed the route marker for the detour. It gave them a choice of running the rapids or doing some rock climbing. They stumbled upon the river rafting put in point and so did the rafting. At the end, they got the clue to go to the Pit Stop, which the did. Phil made them go back and pick up the detour clue. Since the Pit Stop was only 10 highway miles from the detour marker, it probably cost them about the 30 minutes to return and get it. As to Bill and Mark, if Phil had made them go back to walk that particular stretch of the leg, I suspect the time amount it would have cost them would have been much much more. The late day traffic was killer and in all respects, they would have probably would have had a 2-3 hour penalty. Whichever the case, they would have still come in last and been eliminated. In Tar-1, the two female lawyers missread the final clue after the soccer roadblock in Brasil. It cleary said to "walk" to the pit stop, which was about a mile away, all downhill. They got a cab and were driving to the Pit Stop and reread the clue. Then in true lawyer fashion, they started debating the intrepretions of the clue. They actually asked their camaraman(as if he was a Judge) if it was okay and were told it was okay. The two lawyers got into a debate in the cab about the directions and intrepreted it to mean to "walk" to the mat, not "run" to the mat after they got out of the cab, which they did. They actually self-reported this incidence and in the end were given a 30 minute penalty and were eliminated. They actually had a sit down with the lawyers and the team that had already been eliminated at the end of the show to explain the penalty. So the 30 minute rule has been in effect since TAR-1. I think today, there is much more communication between the cameraman/soundman with "race control" and the mistakes are known to Phil when they step on the mat, which was not known in TAR-1 at the mat.
