1) I live alone and have never been visited by spirits. My mohter passed away 10 years ago but I don't recall her presence being around. I have a friend who insists he smelled her perfume on occasion, and this was after his mother passed away.

Anyway another friend of mine insists I must have had some visitor and she would get a little flustered when I said no. She felt the presence of her great aunt around her. 2) Her response to mewas that I must close off that part of myself, to not allow them to come in otherwise I would sense them (or one). So, if what she says is true 3) does that make me a soulless person and any "spirits" won't come around because I close the door on themas it were? And, conversely, that would explain my friend smelling the perfume of his mother? Or, is it the imagination playing tricks with them?

4) I'm not particularily religious so could that have something to do with it as well? Please keep in mind that I don't necessarily beleive in this but I leave it open nevertheless.

1) You HAVE been visited by spirits. You just don't realize it. 2) You could have closed that part of your brain or soul off in childhood. Either that or you just never developed that sixth sense. You can do so now. Read about meditation. 3) No, you are not a soulless person. Spirits are with you at all times. You just don't know about it. Now that you know that they're there, you can try to communicate with them. Relax yourself and breath deeply and meditate. Speak out loud to them. Ask them to give you signs and then pay attention.Lookfor the signsas you're driving, working, house cleaning, etc. 4) Don't think of it as religion (dogma). Think of it as spirituality. You don't have to be religious, you should be spiritual.

Thanks for the analysis. Well thought out. I'm going to send your comments tothe flustered friend I mentioned in my original posting. As for #4, what if you are not spiritual in that sense? I wonder if a person who is not spiritual will be, essentially, abandoned by spirits (or whatever you call them). It's as if they came, saw, and said (after not being welcomed in) "later for him". You bring up some good points. A good discussion could be had with #2 with the brain or soul. The former is the logical side (that part not welcoming in the spirits) and the latter is the spiritual side. Two sometimes diametrically opposing forces. You hear that debate in religion regardingbelief.

Don't worry about not being religious. Spirits don't have human emotions like we do. The don't have jealousy, resentment, etc. They have forgiveness and love. They'll never abandon you even if you do bad things. Even scumbags have spirits from the Other Side around them. That was a hard one for me to swallow, but I now accept it. Everyone is cleansed upon entering the Other Side. If you don't go into the light after death, you're stuck on another plane of existencein which you become a ghost that's very close to our plane of existence. Actually, the Other Side is very close to our plane of existence, too. Anyway, try to open your spirit. If you want to go to church, that's fine. If you don't, that's fine. Doesn't matter. You won't be 'punnished' for not going to church or following the dogma of any particular religion.
