why do so many dislike Rossi? I really do miss Gideon but I never felt that he came in with an attitude or that he was going to replace him. He kind of hovered and made his points without trying to one up everyone and... he did show alot of compassion when they solved his 20 yr. old case. Any thoughts?

He was stand-offish at first, which is why I didn't like him early on. But he has definitely gotten better, I just like the others more (I feel the same way about Rossi as I do about Reid, just for different reasons. I like Rossi and Reid, just not as much as the others).

Well, I can hardly speak for why so many people dislike Rossi. I dislike him because I find him smug and because he treats Garcia like an un-glorified secretary. Because I felt he was shoved down my throat. Because he leered at JJ. Because of the little grilling session he gave Reid about where he was when he came in late from his clean cops meeting. Clearly Reid's "I was at the movies" was code for "I don't want to talk about it." And, Rossi's a profiler and supposed to be a legend, so there's no way he didn't pick up on that, so asking him what the movie was about was pretty much calling him out on it and trying to find out where he really went, and it was none of Rossi's dang business, and I don't buy that he had any great concern or anything. Just nosiness and pushing it beyond the bounds of normal teasing. And, various other incidents, but those are just a sample. Because people seem to automatically connect any dislike of Rossi to arbitrary reasons that essentially make him out to be some perfect guy that no one could possibly dislike unless they're being unfair and won't give him a chance. Like, assuming the dislike has to do with him not being Gideon. Or, assuming it's because he's new. I'm not saying everyone has to dislike him or even see him the same way or see the same flaws I do, but if every flaw or possible unlikable all because he's new and just hasn't gotten used to the team, well once he's no longer new (and for some that time has already come) then that means all his flaws are gone. Which makes him a Mary Sue, and I hate Mary Sues. I don't buy that his character traits were all just because he's the new guy. Not if he's a well written character. And, I rank him above the unsubs (no evidence that he killed anyone). But, there's probably enough local cops and victims and victims families and people with no lines in crowds and random cats walking in front of the camera to fill up the spaces between Rossi and the characters I like.

Yeah, I forgot about him checking out JJ in that first episode until you mentioned it. That was very creepy/inappropiate, but she is a good-looking woman (though he should have kept that to himself) and if everyone was judged based on one thing, one statement, then a lot of people (including myself) would be seen as jerks when they are not. So I guess I've forgiven him for that, as long as he doesn't do it again (and I think he has learned to respect JJ and the rest of the team as the skilled professionals they are).

I seem to remember mentioning more than just one thing or one statement that I disliked about him in my post.
