[size=18][/size - If Michael is such a hot shot attorney, why doesn't he have an office? We only see him conducting business in his apartment or at the coffee house. It would appear that Lauren is his executive secretary. Which brings up another question -- If Lauren is the head of the Fenmore chain of department stores, who is running her business? From time to time, we see her ringing up a sale at the boutique, which is about the size of a small bedroom. If Michael is a hot shot attorney and Lauren is the owner of a chain of department stores, and if Neil is the head of Newman Enterprise, and if Gloria and Jeffrey are worth at least 50 million, why are they all living in little apartments and a poolhouse? Why do we have to endure storylines with Marge, Karen and Anna, the child singing phenom......boring.

I think that's just TV.Like how on "Friends" they had that ginormous apartment in NYC even when some of them didn't have jobs. And teenagers on tv these days always have these honkin huge bedrooms! Shoot, my bedroom was about the size of a large closet! lolNone of the sets on this show are very big. Crimson Lights & Restless Style may be the two biggest. And you're right about Lauren. I've been watching this show now for around 3 months and I've never seen her store once.

Soaps work on a foundation of belief that unless otherwise shown/told, the characters are going about their daily lives. So, it's assumed that Lauren manages Fenmore just fine. What possible S/L would need to show her at Fenmores all the time? Constant shoplifting? Employee theft? Why would Michael need an office when every time somebody calls they request he comes to them. I wouldn't have an office either if nobody came there. It's a different world these days where lots of people don't have office space. I work from home as well and travel to my clients locations.A similar discussion was had a bit earlier as well. Soaps are only about the dialogue, not the location where the dialogue is held. Soaps need to create situations where people overhear stuff and run in to people they don't like. You can't do that with 20 restaurants, 30 offices, etc.. etc. It simply doesn't matter if the conversation happened at McDonalds or Crimson Lights or Vickies office or the Break Room. The locations are completely irrelevant to the dialogue.

The apartment that Michael and Lauren have is supposed to be an expensive condo that Michael bought with the money Victor gave him years ago for the product placement scandal. But what does not make sense is that Kevin could rent in the same building. As for Neil, his is supposed to be a condo as well and they expanded it when he and Dru got married the last time.

Don't forget that Kevin won the lottery so he could have paid for it with that.

Michael and Lauren is rich. They own Fenmore's. Remember when Sharon fell over the cliff. Sharon was in the hospital and Lauren told Noah she would pay him $5,000 a hour to baby sit Fen for her. I made a post about it on the old board and said I'd baby sit for that any old day.

Yes, I wondered about Neil's small Apartment myself. He needs to get a Winter's Mansion!!! He is finally the top dog...flaunt it bc u deserve it.Why does it only take about 2 minutes to get everywhere in Genoa City? It's like one minute you are at the coffee house and then the next minute you are at Newman at your desk working...lol Why is Eve so COUNTRY and Why does Noah let her punk him. He needs to man up and say it is cool to be obedient! Nothing is wrong with that.

I always wonder how come we hardly ever see Summer, Reed and Fen. it's like their parents never have them even when they are all home. We never see them interacting with their kids. Oh wait. we saw Summer blow the "Bugs" cover up and saw Fen before River got arrested, and wow.. when did we see Reed last? hum... guess they have lots of money to have someone watch their kids al day and night every day... I know it's a soap, but be somewhat realistic.. I spend almost every waking minute with my son when I'm not in school..

I think it is ridiculous that Michael does not have an office and that we never see Lauren work or deal with Fenmore's anymore. There is suspension of disbelief and then there is stupidity. I think the sad fact is that Lauren and Michael are a low priority to the writers and so they have taken away their businesses and for awhile they weren't even showing their home. If a person was a new viewer they would think Lauren was a stay at home mom and not a CEO of a chain of department stores. The last time we saw the boutique was when Lauren hired Gloria for two days because it involved Gloria. I can't think of another time all this year we have seen the boutique which used to be a staple of the show. Michael is a lawyer to everyone and he and Paul can share an office yet the show would rather bust the budget making a new set for the favored Phyllis, Nick, Sharon, and Jack rather than bother to bring out Michael's old office. I guess they should feel lucky they still have their apartment.

This post totally made me You are all sooooo right! I was a legal secretary for about 100 years until I recently went back to college - and I can tell you one thing - a high profile, busy attorney like Michael would probably have more than one secretary toiling away in an office somewhere! The lawyers NEVER draw up their own documents - tee hee - makes me laugh again just considering it! And, not only that, I can see Michael running to meet with Victor wherever Victor is (because let's face it - money talks and Victor IS Victor), but most attorneys insist on their clients coming to them in their offices - not vice versa. There must be an old piece of a set somewhere that Y&R could "re-tool" into an office for Michael - poor guy!

That place used to be "the loft", where JT lived with first Mackenzie, and Kevin, and then later on with Victoria, before Fen was born. Very little was done to that set to turn into RS.
