OK, so, I know it's just a TV show, but tonight's episode was offensive!1. Penny went into Sheldon's and Leondard's home, ate Sheldon's food off of Sheldon's plate, sat in Sheldon's favorite spot, then had the nerve to get angry with Sheldon.2. Then, when Sheldon went to the restaurant where Penny waits tables, Panny took it upon herself to deny Sheldon food service. When she was compelled by her manager to take Sheldon's food order, she brought his food and dared him to eat it, obviously impying that she had done something to his food that violated health codes.3. In the end, Leonard violated his friendship with Sheldon, used Sheldon's mother to emasculate her own son, and the episode ended when Sheldon apologized to Penny!?!Again, I know it's only a TV show, but the writing this season is clearly aimed at making the super-intelligent Sheldon the object of Penny's community-college-dropout riducule, not just a socially uncomfortable, quirky genius.Yes, I like the Sheldon character. Yes, I respect intelligence. Yes, I respect boundries in a society in which most people don't. The series was clever last season. It has dumbed itself down this year.Sorry.

Can't disagree, but i think it is supposed to be that Penny is trying, in her own little way to help sheldon, and the guys in general, act more... normal. In her view she is trying to break down Sheldon's walls and help him in his own growth as a human being. or not.

I was far more offended that the HDTV is connected to things using component cables rather the HDMI.. I mean, anyone with a very basic uderstanding of electronics would grasp this... We're supposed to believe that two guys with the intellect that Sheldon and Leonard have would settle for poor picture quality?

Honestly, I thought the episode is quite funny and cleaver. So it's ok to frankly run over everyone and dictate how all the other characters act in the apt.?? No, every friendship has an ebb and flow, I sit in the comfortalbe chair today, yet let my friend have it tomorrow. I thought it was about time that the "ALL Mighty Sheldon" was brought down just a touch. Also I mean come on, it's Penny, HELLOOOOOO Penny!! She can eat where ever she wants I don't mind.....hahahaha

Have you guessed it yet? My bet is that "romance is in the air" for Sheldon and Penny. ho-hum. Too bad the writers are so formulaically lazy this season. What happened to the acerbic wit and clever delivery from the rest of the ensemble that made the first season so funny?

Penny should hook up with Sheldon. So much sexual tension there!

The episode is fairly funny.Although I like the "adult" Sheldon (intelligent, insightful and highly rational) he behaves as a despotic child with everything related with his rules. Penny would have had to avoid the escalation but she tried to apologize with the onion rings (apologies he doesn't even consider). When they go to the restaurant Sheldon should have apologized for banishing (banishing!!!) Penny. She should have not started behaving in the same childish way but then Sheldon worsens again the situation when he complains to Penny's manager (and you shouldn’t play with your friend’s jobs). And Leonard uses the only mechanism he knows to control Sheldon's childish attitude, her mother.I expect the writers don't consider a Sheldon - Penny romantic relation. It would be difficult to explain why the difficulties that Penny saw with her relation with Leonard would not apply to Sheldon considering that in his case those are more extreme. The writers would also have to perform some drastic twists to fit the situation.

I agree with the OP with the observation of the show being 'dumbed down'. It seems that the second season plays too much to the idiosyncrasies of Sheldon. I hope the writers give us of an ensemble experience before they milk the teat dry.Was there a change in the direction or writing? What I loved about the show initially was the "Geek Accuracy" and a balanced roasting of all the characters. I hope the show stays in its niche, and doesn't try to go mainstream. I'd rather watch 'Chuck' and the Nerd Herd for that.

OMG I hope Sheldon does not hook up with "PENNY" that would be OUT of character! He needs to find a girl who is smart enough to put him in his place! Penny is pretty but not up to Sheldons standards.

pixnation is right. Sheldon need to hook up with someone as outspoken as he is and just as smart. Maybe Leslie Winkle. Now that would be funny watching the fighting and sexual tension between the two of them since they currently hate each other.Sheldon doesn't mean to be rude or offensive. He is gifted intellectually but an idiot socially. He is more evolved mentally and like a child socially. Leslie could keep him in line.

i agree with the last two comments - that sheldon should get together with a smart girl. Leslie Winkle? Maybe and i totally agree with this - sheldon is very ntelligent but in the same time a "social invalid"...with every episode he learns how to approach to ppl in different situations. ( Example - his famous "there, there" when somebody is sad). His approach is not everytime the right approach but its his own way to say "dont be sad" and stuff like that. In situations like in this episode he gains everytime social experience that he uses in his own funny way...sorry on my bad english....

Holy cow - talk about being sensitive to an episode!Because Penny wasn't taking the same crap from Sheldon that everyone else does, it's offensive? She put him in his place, big whoop. Yeah, like 5% of the population may have been skeeved out by the onion ring thing, but that's how "buddies" learn their boundaries and, yes, Penny has let herself become immersed into their group on some level. Sheldon's whole 3 strikes, having to take "his course" routine was more offensive than anything Penny or Leonard did.Not that I minded because it made for a humorous plot line.

You can't possibly mean to say that you think it's Penny's fault. Oh, no. It's Sheldon! She deserved the apology that he finally gave her. He is so fussy and overbearing. He's like a two-year-old when it comes to being social! He just doesn't know how to deal with people. I was glad that Penny put him in his place. I mean, I love Sheldon, but it was about time that someone stood up to him!

This episode was probably my favorite of the season so far. I'm definitely jumping on the Sheldon/Penny bandwagon, not even necessarily in terms of shipping or whatever, but just in general. I love watching them interact. They have great chemistry. They're so different, but they manage to get under each other's skin so well. Sure, he and Leslie trade insults, but Leslie's so dry with it, which is funny, but I like the way Penny and Sheldon got all fired up at each other. They were both so devious and underhanded and awesome.

Yes, this episode was offensive. Penny was invasive and lacked any consideration or respect for Sheldon's space. If she's more "socially capable" whatever that means, she should behave accordingly. Instead she was a total jerk.
