Matt-I agree they need to pull out all the stops if this is the final season. Even if this isn't the final season they better tell the REAL goat story this season. If there is another season i dont want Marshall to use his final two slaps just yet.I have heard some rumors about then at least touching on (bringing it up at some point) Lilly getting pregnant but I cant confirm that.

After watching Cobie Smulder's appearance on Letterman, she DOES NOT, say anything about the show ending. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v
=uOUhZ-9
- yXQ)Further research showed that when the show was sold into syndication (which wont start until the year 2010) I read this"Though it’s nice that fans will be able to see the show five days a week, the great news becomes apparent when you read the “fine print” of the syndication agreements. Mother’s four-year syndication contract stipulates that the studio will deliver 110 half-hour episodes in the year 2010. At the end of the fourth season (which kicks off on Monday), only 90 episodes will have been produced. That means that, under the syndication deal, the studio is obligated to deliver at least 20 more episodes, ensuring Mother will get a fifth season."Also the syndication has the right to 8 seasons. Also in an interview with the Chicago Tribune Craig Thomas had this to say about the series (article is date July 19th, 2008 )"However he did reveal that more than two years ago, he and Carter filmed a scene that will air when "HIMYM" ends for good. With only the two kids who play Ted’s future children, a cameraman and executive producer/director Pamela Fryman present, they shot a scene that directly relates to the identity of the mother. That scene will be included in the show’s series finale, which Thomas said he hopes “people will see in 2012.”Matt-looks like your left testicle is safe for the time beingAny further questions? I believe you just got (as Marshall would say) LAWYERED! (sorry couldn't resist)

It is great to hear that the show still has time. I was happy to stumble on to this, a hilarious relief from all the reality stuff. It took only one episode to get my wife hooked. As for the mother thing. It is most likely not Stella. "No Tomorrow" falls between "The Platinum Rule", where Ted meets Stella, and "Ten Sessions". If Ted had already met Stella, and been out on the "not date" he would have recognized her at the club. To those that say she left before he got there, I reply with follow the umbrella. As Ted approaches the line everyone acts as if it has just stopped raining. And if the umbrella was left, I doubt the mother left before he got there. Also, I would hope that in the months that Ted has been with Stella she would have noticed he has her BRIGHT YELLOW umbrella. It has to have rained in that time.Probably not her. Just sayin'.

CBS is letting the writers finish the show on their own terms, which they have said will be 7 seasons. Therefore, there is no reason that mother has to be presented in season 4.So sit back and enjoy a great show continue its run. Another thing, I'm sure the mother is someone that the viewers do not know anything about yet or have even seen. At the St. Patty's party, I'm sure there is a scene where the mother is shown but we haven't seen it yet (and of course, Ted doesn't actually meet her there).

I dont think in the St.Patty's day scene they show the mother because that would mean they would have to cast the mother now. So my guess is if they show the mother at the club it will be much later towards the end, after we find out who she is.Agreed, in the meantime just enjoy the fact that we don't know and won't know who the mother is anytime soon. Let's face it based on this thread alone life is much simpler not having to try to figure out the mother.

I just hope they don’t do it like the sopranos! Something like Ted saying: “And when I looked to my left there she was kids, your mother…” – screen goes black for a few seconds – final credits.

Food for thought: Robin isn't 100% out of the running for the mother. All it would take for the writers to get Narrator Ted out of the references to "Aunt Robin" would be for The gang to befriend another woman named Robin somewhere along the line. The kids may be assuming the "Aunt Robin" their dad refers to is this other Robin, the one THEY know as "Aunt." The fact that the kids are being told this story is reason enough to assume they don't know all the details, or the true time lines of when everyone met each other. Also, the fact that the kids are just teens in 2030 would account for the years our Robin was traveling for work before settling down. But then, that's probably just wishful thinking on my part. I can't make the St. Paddy's day thing mesh with the Robin theory... unless someone knows of an hour or so of Robin's time that was unaccounted for that night.

Well here is part of my reason that it can't be Robin and sorta ruling out the idea of a second Robin. In the episode where Robin dates the guy with the kid that is in Lilly's class Future Ted says (paraphrased here) "but Robin did go on to be in some very important artwork....yours" and then it shows crayon pictures of Robin with two kids and the Title says "us and Aunt Robin"Really the whole Ted/Robin thing has been done already.

Barney is telling the story to his kids using Teds life to sugar coat his own. Barney is the one changing the way he feels right now. We know the wife wouldnt have liked him on st. patricks day, now Barney is starting to have feelings for Robin which eventually will be someone else.. But Barney is the one changing... Why I dont think it is Ted.. Why isnt his face showing in the wedding photo in the future? Both faces are cut off not just the brides.

yeah but they show ted's face and robin sitting there in the wedding flash forwards. that theroy doesnt make any sense, are you trying to tell me that barney had the meaningful reletionships with victoria or tried to make it rain for robin? sorry that theroy is reaching really far and doesn't work. it worked for that one episode where barney was pretending to be ted because the "ted" in that episode was being an a-hole.

Just to tell u that whoever it is they would have to show her around 2010 or a little further because the kids look like they are 12 or so. That means if he was dating the mom for about a year or so then they would have to show her pretty soon in a season or two maybe at the end of this one. i do also believe it is the girl he ran into at the party. guess we will find out pretty soon.

My husband is certain that the mother is the waitress, has says that she keeps turning up outside of the bar. Of course, that would mean that the meaning of the word 'met' would relate more to 'becoming acquainted' rather than being introduced to someone for the first time. It's an interesting theory.
