Yeah! Penny is a "Big Ol Five" and it would be fun to see how she got that way. Leonards parents could be fun too. Could you imagine Roseanne Barr as Leonards DAD??!!? LOL But who could the mom be?? Leonard is so uptight it would have to be a wild, happy spirit like Ellen Degeneress (?). My kids get embarassed when I sing silly songs and do silly dances, so I can see them growing up like Leonard. On the bright side, Leonard is the closest to "normal" of the group. Sheldon pegged him as the veritable "Mac Daddy" and I recall, when Penny and her hottie friends popped in after dancing and said "we stopped by to have sex with you", Lenny is the only one to notice some disturbance in the force, pause the Halo game and say he thought he heard something. So close and yet... such a nerd.P.S. My wife is a Big Ol Five!! LOL

Laurie Metcalf does a great job as Sheldon's mother. She is the only one that can reason with him and understands his social retardation. Everyone else just kind of tolerates it, but she truly gets where he is coming from however she won't have any of it. Remember when she made him march back to the dean to get his job back. HOward's mother needs to remain faceless and somewhat of an enigma. Like Mr. Wilson on home improvement (i think that's the name of the show). I love hearing Howard argue with his mother on the phone!!!

I don't recall a mention of Sheldon's father being deceased. Do you know in what episode it was discussed? I was hoping they would get David Hyde Pierce to play him because he looks so much like Sheldon face-wise and Sheldon reminds me a lot of Niles from Frasier.

In the fourth episode when Sheldon's mother speaks with Gablehouser says he's deceased.

Plus one of the reason's Missy Cooper came to town was because she needed Sheldon to sign some papers for their father's estate.

There have actually been several references to Leonard's parents in past episodes. Apparently his parents are somewhat responsible for him turning out the way he did; they put him in AP courses, had him learn to play the Cello, and denied him Birthdays (The Hamburger Postulate and The Peanut Reaction). He also mentioned in The Grasshopper Experiment that his parents aren't happy with 'his limited earning potential'. It was also mentioned that his mother published scientific papers.I imagine Leonard's mother would be tall, uptight, and very Sheldon-like. In fact, she could be the character who actually likes Sheldon, maybe wishing Leonard was more like him. Leonard's dad would have to be short, nerdy, and lactose intolerant, basically where Leonard gets it from. They would both have to wear glasses, but his mother would be more formal and have her hair pulled tight and his dad would dress more casual, like Leonard. It would be a wonderful dynamic for the show!Well that's how I picture Leonard's parents, anyway... I'm sure that it will come up soon.

What about Leonard? We haven't seen his family on the show yet. Maybe Beverly D'Angelo but I liked the Bebe Newirth idea.
