Because the producers thought they needed a "star" to carry the show without William Peterson. I guess they didn't have confidence in the regular cast.

I love his acting but I don't like his character on the show. Is he a CSI or work in the morge?Stick to one job and not act like a know it all.

I think Laurence is doing a fantastic job on CSI, he brings new and exciting personality to the show. I thought I would miss Grissom, but I don't!

We are still watching the former CSI, now known as The lawrence Fishburne Show (LFS) and got several movies Fishburne has made in an effort to "like" him. He is a very good actor (Duh?? award winner) but he is not making the transition to television. He conveys nothing, na-da, zero, on the small screen.

There are actors that go from television to movies and movies to television, but Fishburne has not shown he can do that with CSI. I think we are seeing a real struggle with the other characters because they realize this. Also makes me think that Eric/Greg might have said something to this effect, thus putting Greg in a corner all season (not on screen).

sarapals, i do agree with you, I have noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of screen time for Greg and some of the others, that does disappoint me.

Wow, you can see that?! I must need new glasses and/or a new TV!

Sure can--look atthe cast of CSI--very rigid, stiff in delivering lines, how they 'stand back', no flow to their actions--as there was at one time, even in season 1. This season we see some fake, scripted pats on the back, but it is just flat.

Check out a few of LFishburne's movies--he has a great animated face, he's very fluid in his acting, in different characters--not just one role. There is a tremendous change in what he does in movies and what he's done on CSI. So maybe you don't need new glasses but a bigger screen television?? Better yet, watch with a couple of friends so you can get several opinions.

yeah, the biker show really proves this show is going down hill fast. fishburn in biker gear? WHAT THE *@^%? that was the lamest thing i ever saw. i didn't know whether to laugh or cry. are there new writers too because the story lines are getting worse every week. well, it was fun while it lasted, i'm going to miss this show when it doesn't return next year.

LF is a walking zombie whose expressionless face leaves everybody on the cast cold. The new floozie is rather ridiculous. I have not watched an episode since ten and from what I have read in this little cute discussion, I have not missed a thing. CSI is doomed and 2009-10 will be it's last season.I would like to congratulate the writers for royally screwing this show up and the producers for choosing LF. It seems weird to ponder what they were thinking (or hoping) when this season began. WP really left the show with nothing left. He got out and LF came in, marching like Julius Caesar. I think I will turn the channel to Dragnet with Jack Webb. He was more animated than LF.

It is odd that LF gets top billing in the credits and, yet, his character is low man on the totem pole. In fact, the first few episodes saw him being mentored by Nick. Another thing, he was a doctor and a college professor right? How did he become so adept with a gun? Is part of being a CSI, Forensic or whatever labelled jacket he wears on a crime scene, having to learn to shoot a gun? I mean the others carry them. But, still, that's pretty quick learning for a beginning CSI. I don't even remember Grissom using one. Only Horation Caine does lab work, detective work, go on police raids and shoot his gun but that's another story for another message board and we know H doesn't hold a candle to Grissom, either as a CSI or an actor!
