The fact that he walked away from the crossword puzzle..tossed it into the trash, did not attempt to finish it or solve it, just chunked it....not like our Grissom of the past. That was what I took from it...that he has changed..he is not the same man anymore.

I agree with beachbum's comment about Grissom and the crossword. But after reading the posts and thinking about the title of the episode, "19 Down, " I'm going to have to watch that scene again and see if any words from that puzzle jump out at me. Yes, I overanalyze every scene and the dialogue but that is part of the fun of watching "CSI."

I'm taking a wild guess. Do you think that the word is "change"???I did not see the letter "f" as the second letter. If there was an "f", there are not many words that go " _fa_ _ _"What do ya think?

when I went back to look at the crossword, my husband commented that it wasn't the crossword that was important, it was the fact that he could let it go unfinished.

I agree about his not finishing the puzzle, uncharacteristic. However, the key to the episode and perhaps the story arc is the answer to 19 Down. I couldn't make it out.

I could tell you all but I would have to kill you!!!Just joking. The words are as follows. Solute, Trends, the A was free, emGe, spIlican, and helL. You get the name STAGIL.Or if you were to pronounce that you would say STAY GIL. Yee Haw.

Brilliant! And he threw it away because he doesn't want to stay! How did you ever work this out? Are you a writer for the show? Or do you just have a big brain like Grissom?

The name of this episode was "19 down..." The name of the Jan. 15th episode is "One to go." Put 'em together, and you have "19 down...one to go". I think this refers to the countdown to Grissom's departure. If he gave 4 weeks notice, that's 20 working days. "One to Go" will be Grissom's last day.
