Hi everyone, my dear sweet cat was killed on April 11th (he ran out of the house and was hit by a car). He was part of our family and weare deeply saddened by the loss. My question is: do you think pet spirits can stick around for a little while to say goodbye &comfort their human loved ones after death?I reallyfeltmy precious kitty's presence for approx 2 days after his death. For one, I was sitting on the couch the day after he died and felt warm fur against my bare foot - which was where he liked to be. I had to get up and walk around several times - it was THATreal. Also, he liked to cuddle close to my neck and face, and at times I would feel unexplained warmth against my neck and would get a sensation that he was there. I know this must sound crazy to some who don't believe, but really - has anyone had an experience regarding a departed furry family member?I am convinced my dear cat tried to tell me he is OK, as I haven't felt a presence since day 2. Thanks for listening.

That's not crazy at all. Pets still love you, even after death. He's just hanging around to comfort you, then he'll be on his way into the light

I'm sorry for your loss of kitty. Yes, I know the spirits of petscan stay around after they pass on to say goodbye or comfort us. I also belive that spirits of those we love are closer than we think. We can't see them but they are often there. I believe they can come over to visit. I often feel the weight of a ferret on my foot and know it's Zahn. Zahn used to love to plop down on my foot to rest, especially as she grew older. When the time is right, your cat will cross. But, don't be surprised if he comes back to visit every once in awhile!

Thanks, CorplAgarn and Ferretrunner. What you both said makes a lot of sense. Ferret, I'm sorry for the loss of your Zahn.

I know that animals are there when you cross over and they visit you as well after they pass on. I lost many close to me. I still see some of them when they visit me. I'll see my black cat Sebastion in the window staring in at me. I know its him and not another cat because our window is too high for any cat to look in. Also, when my rabbit passed it was hard on me. A couple days after she passed, I started crying, soon afterwards the radio turned on by itself. I looked to see if maybe it was an alarm that was set. It wasn't. I tried to turn it off but it was already on off. I unplugged it but it still played. I called out "Kali? "(my rabbit's name) and then it went silent. I wasn't scared. I felt that it was her message saying that she was there and she heard me and she knew I missed her and loves her.

That is so sad, please accept my condolences. Pets are such a big part of our lives. I do believe they can stick around. I have a ghost pet, not sure what it is but occasionally I will be in bed and feel something jump on the bed. I have a cat so I look to see if it's her and nothing. I owned several kitties when I was younger, not all at the same time, but often in the kitchen we would feel what felt like a cat rub up against our leg. Everyone in my family talked about this and asked if others had experienced it. I believe your little buddy is staying around for you.

Hello. I am so so very sorry to hear about all of your poor pets passing on, but I think it is VERYtrue indeed that they can come back for you. My pets are my life, and I have had alot of difrent pets, but I am devistated when they die. I have had my ownencounters with pets staying for us. One of them was my hamster Freddie. I know some people may think so, it's just a hamster but Freddie and me did evrything together, I took him to my friends sleepovers and evrything. He was practicaly my best friend (Along with all of my other pets ofcourse ) But one night I whent up to my room to get him back out of his cage, and found him lay breathing deeply. I stayed with him for hours, until I put him down for some rest and fell asleep myself. I woke up in the morning and he was dead. I was heart-broken, it was last Feb, but I still cry about it. I even criend two days ago thinking about him! But anyways, Freddie loved his hamster wheel, I meen LOVEDit. He even ended up sleeping in it! But a few weeks after he died and I had washed out his cage thouroly, I came in to my room to find his footprints freshly made all around the inside of the wheel! I was so happy to think he was still there, and sometimes even now I feel his presence, if that doesn't sound completly mental! Aswell, my friend Alicia's cat got hit by a car earlier this year, and the cat was gorgeouse, I loved it! But two nights after she died, I heard something ontop of my comupter and my dog Suzie sat staring at it whining non-stop. I also heard faint meows coming from there and little claws, I spoke to the direction of the comuter, adressing it as DreamDust (The cat.) and told her she needed to go home, to say goodbye, and when I finished talking, all of the noises stopped and my dog whent back to sleep! (I think my dad heard me and thought I had lost the plt though! :S) But yas, I definatly think you are right.

To evryones dearly departed pets, including my own... R.I.P, may you find happiness beyond the light, until we one day meet again with you.

Your little 'Hammy' sounded like a hoot. I was devasted when my budgie died. We got him/her was never sure the sex of it when it was a baby. Budgie, very original name, was only about 6 weeks when we got it. It was lavendar and white in colour. I never knew budgies could talk?? This one had a vocabulary of about 75 words. He swore like a sailor thanks to my Uncle and used to obey commands. If I said finger, he land on my finger, if I said shoulder he'd land there. One time when we were eating supper, his cage hung in the dining room, he walked over to his ladder/bell combination and kicked the bell. Because we reacted in histerics he soon learned to do it when asked. He'd sometimes say 'kick your bell' and wander over and kick it. Our pets that we love come in all shapes and sizes and I will never forget this funny little bird.

I've had pets all my life. Like it says in the poem "Rainbow Bridge," I believe that one day we will be with them again. As far as them being around after they have passed away, my closest experience of that was a white German shepherd named Chloe. She developed bone cancer when she was only 7-years-old. In an effort to save her life, her leg was amputated in December and she had several chemo treatments in the spring. Unfortunately, it was too late. She passed away in May. There is a magnolia tree beside my house that was Chloe's favorite place to lay when she was outside. It never has more thana fewblooms each year. The summer she died, it had between 40 and 50. I always said Chloe sent me flowers.

I am so sorry to hear about kitty. I am a firm believer that our pets know we love them and come to say good-bye when they have passed on to Rainbow Bridge. When my 2 dogs were poisoned (murdered) 2 days before Christmas in 2000, we were devistated. My daughter, who was only 7 at the time came to me the morning of the 24th and told me, "Sadie and Lucy are fine mom, they aren't hurting anymore and they are together." She went on to tell me that both dogs were in bed with her in the middle of the night to say good bye. They came to me later in the month, together too, to say thier good byes. Our pets know we won't forget them.
