I must admit I was surprised to read of another CSI joining the team as a regular. A cop from Hollywood. Sounds snobby already but I refuse to prejudge. A lot of you want a new FEMALE ME to even things out, and here we have another one in the lab who isn't-who can be viewed as a threat of some sorts to Eric and Ryan (he is in their age range). Plus, another regular equals less air time for the others. Some, okay a LOT of you, don't feel some of our other regulars are getting their fair share of airtime. So how can this help? I've only given two options on purpose because I want you all to consider everything when you answer, and then explain your vote to the rest of us. I'm REALLY hoping he isn't coming on because someone's leaving and it's a premeditated transition.

I'm glad that show is getting someone new.And personally,I think that Kyle has enough on-screen time,(usually more than Natalia)for someone who's not regular.Just my opinion

Isay welcome him. Think about thisway, A new CSI.....someone for Horatio to get back into the training mode with. Someone new does not mean someone has to leave, look at how many CSIs were on CSILas Vegas at one time....there were 6. On Miami, we only have 5...it is an uneven TEAm! You can not send out 2 teams to work cases when you have uneven numbers!! Think about the possibilities here.....they can work 2 cases at a time per a night, and they can switch around partners on different nights creating different work sceranios. Natalia is still Single......what if the new guy was a possibility for Nat?? Don't think of it as a threat, think of it as a opportunity for growth and encourage the writers to do the right thing with the character development and put in positive input.... Isee great things for CSI Miami with the introduction of new blood.....new fans, more ratings, more storylines, new storylines, and the opportunity to focus on creating opportunities for the characters that already exist (Frank , Natalia, and Ryan....just like we have asked). We just have to give the writers and Eddie a chance, is all

Pickle, I'm concerned too about them adding this guy. I'm not worried about this guy being a threat to Eric and Calleigh's relationship, because I feel they''ll be okay, but I am concerned about what it may mean to the other characters by the producers adding another person. It has taken Ryan and Eric several years on the show to finally get to a poin t where they are getting along good, and I wouldn't want to see a problem arise between them or any of the other characters because of the presence of the new guy. Beachbum081- I'm really trying to see some things from your point of view, but personally my thought on all of this is that it really just makes for a lot more questions and concerns for the roles of the other team members. I have a question also, Does anyone really know for sure if this guy will be playing the role of a uniform cop, the new ME, a detective, or an actual CSI team member? Because the answer to that question could answer a lot of questions, and help to put a lot of our minds more at ease. I'm like Pickle , I really don't think the show need another CSI team member, and I hope this guy is very temporary.

Well, I voted for the second option. . . even though I like Eddie Cibrian (loved him on "Third Watch" ), I am concerned about exactly what role he will play on the team. Is he a cop? Is he a CSI? I think I need more questions answered . . . but I am not willing to completely write him off just yet. I will wait and see what happens. . .who knows - maybe, like others have said, the introduction of the new character will provide for more scenes and storylines for some of the other cast members. We must remember, Natalia, Kyle, Yelina and Frank wereall "added" onceas series regulars . . . .

Eddie Cibrian will be joining the cast of CSI: Miami as the popular CBS procedural enters its eighth season on Sept. 21.Cibrian will fill the series regular role of an officer from the Hollywood division who joins Horatio's team in Miami, says the Hollywood Reporter.

The above was from TV Guide. Another source states... The search for a missing Delko just got a much-needed boost. Actor Eddie Cibrian is joining the cast of CSI: Miami , popping up in the crime drama's eighth season as a regular. He is set to play a police officer from Los Angeles who is moving to the Miami-Dade crime lab. In addition, CSI: Miami 's producers also confirmed that Adam Rodriguez , who plays the still-missing Eric Delko in the series--that, after the events of the cliffhanger season finale a couple of months ago--will be returning. No word, though, on the status of Megalyn Echikunwoke , who disappeared from the opening credits on the finale after her character hit the slammer. Source: The Hollywood Reporter

As much as I think Frank and Nat should get more screen time and even a story arc now and then; I had to vote for Eddie. Sounds like he will be a detective, perhaps instead of bringing Yelina back (which I would love forH). I don't necessarily see him as a threat to the C/E relationship (which admittedly appears like it could be on shakey ground); but I do see him as a good match for Natalia.

I like Cibrian so I voted for the first option. I'll reserve criticism or kudos until I see what the writers have in store for his character. It might be a plus for the show.

I'm caught in the middle here - sitting on the fence. I voted 'yes' for the sake of giving him the benefit of the doubt for now. I don't know who he is because I haven't seen Criminal Minds and only saw a few episodes of Third Watch (great show but on too late at night). If Eric is missing for a while, then it makes sense that a replacement will step in to fill the gap. If Adam Rodriguez is away for whatever reason then it is likely that he will not be filming any episodes showing what he is up to 'on the run'. I'm sure the team will be investigating his disapperance but I don't think any scenes regarding this will be done until Adam returns himself. Then they will probably show things in flashback format. Therefore, Eddie will probably take Adam's place on the team for now. I agree with Jen that it allows opportunities for new story lines and new character explorations - which is good to keep the show fresh - but I don't want this guy taking over the show and detracting air time away from the others. I suppose it depends on how popular he is with viewers. If he is the new "hottie" on the show then he may get lots of air time. We'll have to wait and see. Once Adam Rodriguez returns the new guy may fade into the background a bit or they may make the team 6 - like Jen said - and have lots more crime scene shots with 2 definite teams working - or maybe do the Vegas format where EVERY episode has two or three deaths to investigate. Miami doesn't always have that "two separate story lines" approach because they seem to have a lot more going on in the background with stories - eg The Russian Mob, Julia and Ron, the gangs etc. The other possibility of course is that he is "in training" to take over someone's place because someone is leaving the show. If someone is going it is my guess it will be Adam Rodriguez (rumours abound that he is leaving) or David Caruso (getting out while the going is good) or Emily Proctor (if thebaby rumours are true).

Well, I guess the writers will do a Raymond Caine role on Eric now huh. I certainly hope not, because in my own personal opinion I think the writers have been sort of unfair to Eric's character. Seems to me that even from the earlier seasons they've allowed his character to be cast in roles on the show that to me really placed a constant negative light on his character, in his personal life on the show as well as his professional life on the show, and there has been so many bad things that have happened to him on the show, and caused so much pain in his life. And his personality on the show is of someone filled with compassion and good, and always trying to help. I know it's just a show, but still , seems like the writers haven't been really fair to his character. I got interested in the show because of Adam and Emily, so if he's possibly planning to leave, then I really couldn't blame him, . I guess maybe I'll start trying to get interested in one of the other shows, so that i'm not so disappointed if he does leave. But I really hope he doesn't leave the show, it won't hold the same interest for me anymore. I just think he derserves more roles that will present him in a more positive light more often.
