Here is a copy of a reponse from The FCC:Thanks for contacting the FCC via the online inquiry form, with yourinquiry (designated IC Number: 07-x1327xxxx), regarding the ''reality''show ''Big Brother.'' We will close your inquiry IC Number:07-x1327xxxx with this response:A "game show" in which selected contestants (vs. members of thepublic) participate is governed by Section 509 of Title 47 of theUnited States Code (USC), and regulated by the Department of Justice. However ''Big Brother'' does not appear to meet the definition of a"game show." Rather, it is a ''for entertainment only'' program, somewhat similar to professional wrestling in that it is apseudo-contest in which the outcome is fully, or in some measure, predetermined.

Yeah, that's not really news. All reality shows are considered "entertainment" shows. It gives the producers the ability to guide the show towards better ratings. This does not imply that they are "pre-determined."

202-418-2662CDBShelp@fcc.gov Ask for yourself. www.fcc.govIt's not really news? wow, it's news to me buddy. I am personally really disgusted because they bill this show like it's a free-for-all

It bothers me only because the implications are that this show is entirely, 100 percent, a toss-up. That the house-guest that plays the best game can win. It's just shady. It bothers me because of the way the show is advertised. If they told me upfront, that the producers influenced the show...I would not even watch . So they sneak around the fact. Shady.

Instead of voicing it on this message board, get a pen and paper, write down all the sponsers of the show and write them a letter. That would be proactive.

That'll work too, big. But, believe it or not, the sponsers do listen.

This shows outcome is NOT predetermined. The house guests ARE sequestered from the public and they DO play the game. Most people who have watched this show KNOW that the producers DO interfere with the game play of the house guests because they manipulate them by the discussions they have in the D.R. Most people know that the producers try to influence the House Guests according to ratings, but overall, the house guests DO play the game and DO make the decisions without a predetermined plan from the network.JUST because the show falls under the definition of a "for entertainment purposes" program, it doesnt mean it HAS to have a predetermined outcome. It just falls under th same category with the FCC.Let me guess; the person you wanted to win has been evicted, right!?

here we go again with the whole "rigged" stuff. in my opinon the producers can interfer with the game all night and all day but when it comes down to it, the cast are the ones that make that move. for all we know they could zone out where their talking to the producers in the DR. if some1 was telling me what to do i would. so to say its rigged, is to me just bull. and if it is so what? it entertains u dont it? and if not find another show to wacth and leave us with our happy lives and the "rigged" BB

It upsets me but it doesn't surprise me, I don't care who wins this season anyway, I dislike all of them, it's just a question of who I dislike more.

I think some season Grodner has pushed the envelop more in the "pre-determined" winner angle than in others and possibly in this season...not at all? Greater interference might have kept Jessie and/or Libra in the house and given us more drama. As it is, it is turning into the snooze-fest with both of them gone.

Of course they influence how the game goes. Have you never watched Big Brother before? They are constantly calling people into the diary room to "chat" and they have the ability to introduce any kind of challenge at any time depending on what happens in the game. They do the same thing on Survivor. They never have a "set-in-stone" schedule for what games they are going to have the contestants do; it changes week-to-week. On top of that, they introduced "America's Player" this season 3 or 4 weeks in, when they could've easily done it from the get-go, and they only had America's Player for one week this season, and they had the public vote on who should be that player. So, if you don't think the producers have a lot to do with what is happening in the game, and I mean this with all due respect, than you're just being ignorant.Cheers.
