There were some funny parts but just not a classic HIMYM episode. This season doesn't seem to be as well previous seasons. This season's first episode was legendary but everything since has been mediocre. Ilove this show and would never want it to be canceled so that is NOTan option.

The road trip part was really funny but the rest was a little bit boring...Marshall and Ted were awesome. I love the stories from their time at the college Lily had no big role in this case but her annoying things at the trip were also funny.Barney sucks in this episode. He made some jokes about canadians, but nothing really special… Like every episode since the beginning of season Five. Thats the reason why I want back our good old Barney! Before this "Barney in love" thing he was legendary and now he is becoming boring... I loved him for what he was but they made him to a second Ted Mosby! I hope they bring him back soon

I share the same sentiment that many others have been going for here, season 5 hasn't been that great.

I personally feel as if the characters are more just becoming their quirks and less their actual characters. They are falling into archetypes rather than being uniquely who they are. Further the humor is all slapstick rather than reference based. The show has had a lot of strength as a continuous narrative and now it's sort of spirialing off into a show that you can just pick up everything on without having watched previous episodes ala "Two and a Half Men".

One of the best features of this show were it's inside jokes but they seem to be dying out, there are less and less in each subsequent episode. Also the continuity which the show was so excellent at previously is being broken quite regularly now. For example in the double date episode it was as if Robin and Ted had never dated while Marshall and lily were a couple. It would only make sense they had previously double dated and that topic would have come up before.

In the Duel Citizenship episode Robin wasn't so much robin as she was just some Canadian. Barney wasn't so much Barney as he was just an abrasive 'bro'. Lily was just an annoying girl. Marshall and Ted still played out their characters well though - though I personally don't like Marshall as much as a grown up as I do his younger 2005 self his character has gone through the necessary transformation.

Hmmm well, that whole episode was full of inside jokes. Robin being Canadian, the Fiero...

But overall not the best. It felt like the writers were like "we've been bashing on Canada too much, let's put a positive spin on them." Which doesn't make for the best kind of episode. Plus episodes work best with a group dynamic.

I think a lot of people are hating on this season because the character's group dynamics are changing. You want to hold on to good things, sure, but if it's always the same it gets boring.I think that each consecutive season from 1 - 3 were better than the last and they kind of dropped the ball early on in the fourth season [a lot of the dialog seemed out of character, i.e. Barney wanting to "sew [his] **** shut" when he ate a good burger; that's not how Barney speaks]. But with the stories having changed I think they're doing quite well this season. As for the continuity, it's just a part of sitcoms to have a few things change. It happened before this season too, for example when Marshall says he used to fight with his brothers; in a previous episode he says that he'd never been in a fight. It happens sometimes to keep the narrative going. Not to mention that older Ted is an unreliable narrator. He's telling a story from his point of view so what actually happened may be different from how he saw it.Overall, it's a great show and I'm happy to be seeing different sides of the characters and actors.

I love Robin and Barney couple, please don't stop.Barney lost in his new relation ship is hilarious and cute (and still awesome). He can't be a jerk for ever and I don't think he can become a jerk again.

I was a bit disappointed. I've never thought of Lily as the 'fuddy duddy' she was portrayed as on the roadtrip. Also I think the writers missed a great opportunity to compare road trips as Barney tracked down Robin. That's the road trip I wanted to see.
