As many of your know I am opposed to a romance and am very upset about the direction of the show. I thought the writers could have gone in so many directions with Hotch's character. When does Hotch even have time for a romance. He needs to spend more time with Jack and his team. As a result ,I am nolonger watching the show Criminal Minds. As a fan who never missed one episode and bought hundreds of dollars of signed scripts, I am disappointed with the direction of the show this Season. Yes Season 6 was bad but only because of JJ and Prentiss leaving and the poorly written Sever character. Some stories were at least ok.

ALSO, I am saying goodbye not only to the show but also to all blogs/twitter accounts affliated with the show. On this blog, I must thank everyone for at least being civil to me concerning my anti - Hotch romance opinions. Yet, on some other blogs it is evident that fans think only a few fans oppose a Hotch romance or only shippers. They think it is juvenile to oppose a Hotch romance and that Hotch can only be happy again if he gets a romance which I disagree with. Yes, this is their opinion, but I am allowed to have an opinion too about my favorite character. I am not a shipper but a dedicated fan of Hotch for over 6 years. He was absolutly my favorite character on TV. I collected signed Thomas Gibson Criminal Minds scripts and Hotch pictures from e-bay. I liked Hotch's quiet serious demenour and his loyality to his team and even Haley. I liked his work ethic and ethical values. I think a romance for Hotch is a wrong direction for the show and also divides fans. I feel that the show is now a bad nightmare that I must discard before it becomes unbearable for me to even watch the first seasons of the show or dislike the Hotch character. It makes me sad but I have to say goodbye to even this site even if fans have been much nicer to me than those on other sites. Thanks again for letting me post my opinions. Enjoy the show.

According to Rick Dunkle's Twitter site, it appears that Hotch's so called love interest will not just appear in Episode 7.10 (this was bad enough) but also in 7.14 and who knows how many other times this season. This follows the so called pathetic Garcia "shower scene" episode. Dunkle said Hotch does something that is NOT case related. I wonder what it is? It does not take a genius to figure this one out. I am almost 98% sure that he is referring to Hotch and his love interest. This really disheartens me. Messer said Season 7 is for the fans. Well, this season does not appeal to me. Yes, we wanted some personal tidbits but not all the fans want to see love interests. The show for me is now ruined and so is Hotch's character who has been OOC in other episodes. So I guess Hotch's romance is not just one date that he has. This Season is turning into an even worse nightmare by the minute. I would have been happy with the ok story lines of the first 9 episodes. Now we get a romance on Criminal Minds for one of my favorite characters. Maybe the writers can give Reid a love interest too since he lacks social skills then the show can officially turn into a soap opera not the once intelligent profiling show that it once was. I weathered the storm of last season even if I was not impressed JJ and Emily left. But, now my favorite character Hotch is changing.This is the last straw for me. I am 99.9% that I am officially done with the show. I did not want it to end like this and I would have rather the show ended before this happened. I wanted to watch the series finale. This is never going to happen for me. I enjoy posting on this site but cannot watch the show any longer. Maybe I should have never invested myself so much in a character or a show because now I feel like crying over a show which once gave me so much joy.

I noticed and realized that this is the second occurrence where the BAU center was penetrated by people with hostile intent. The first occurrence we saw this several seasons back and JJ saved the day. The second occurrence was several episodes ago and the perpetrator uses the badge of security personnel to access the unit and could have causes deadly consequences to the unit because he was armed with an automatic weapon. This is the FBI we are talking about; especially when their home base is in Quantico . I feel such display should not be shown because it hasn’t occurred in reality and I hope it won’t be. Thanks.

I have watched it for 6 seasons, never skipped an episode, collected all the DVDs, and bought scripts & pictures on auctions. This summer I wrote on several blogs/sites concerning Thomas Gibson’s contract. I wanted him to come back for Season 7 and spent hours petitioning for the signing of a contract. I was extremely happy when I heard the news in June of Gibson’s return as Hotch since Hotch is my favorite character on the show and on TV in general. I thought that the recent episode Painless was brilliant, and I wish more episodes were like this one. Yet, I think that the show is unfortunately going to change!!

I know that some fans will totally disagree with what I am about to say and I respect their opinions, but I feel that I have a right to state my opinions respectfully on this site. I am sorry in advance for such a long post but I wanted to express my final opinions before I stop watching the show. I have mentioned that I have been concerned about the general direction of the show since I read a few weeks ago about a romance being introduced on the show. My worst fears were confirmed a few days ago, when EW officially confirmed that Hotch is going to get a romantic interest whom he meets in a park. I am disappointed, saddened, & alarmed about the direction of Criminal Minds. I really did not want Hotch to get a love interest this season AT ALL.

I have always respected Hotch since he is generally portrayed as dedicated to his work, caring, loyal to Haley & his team, and is shown to have some morals. I am also dedicated to my work so I can totally relate to Hotch. I thought he was a great person!!! I do understand that Hotch might find someone again, but I think it is way too soon only 2 years since Haley was killed. I thought Hotch would struggle more with dating again!! I know that Hotch might find someone again, but I thought this storyline would be introduced in the last few episodes of the series. If the writers give Hotch a romantic interest now, how are they really going to develop his character in 3 seasons? Where do the writers go from here? In addition, some fans on other sites have argued that Hotch needs a love interest since he needs to move past Haley and be happy/smile again. Not everyone in a relationship is happy. Hotch does not necessarily need to find someone again to be happy. Some people do not want to find love again after someone has died. They find happiness through friends or family or other outlets. I wanted the writers to first explore more complex aspects of Hotch’s character. I would really like to see the writers explore Hotch’s interaction with his team, his son, and other personal aspects of his life such as activities. Also, I would like to learn about Hotch’s past!!! How does Hotch suddenly find time for his son, a new love interest, and activities in the park? To me this is a bit unrealistic for his character at the present time since he is supposed to be leading a team and taking on some of the work of Strauss. If the writers are giving Hotch a love interest then do not make him team leader anymore. Some fans on other sites have indicated that they do not want Reid to get a love interest since he is such a complex character. I feel the same way about Hotch, and I was hoping the writers and producers did not cheapen his storyline by finding a love interest for him. How predictable and boring!!!

Some fans have also stated that Hotch has to find love again since he promised Haley he would teach Jack about love. But, I did not take this literally since love can mean so many things such as love of family or friends. I know that love interests have been introduced on the show before for JJ and Garcia but to me this is enough romance for a show that is supposed to be mainly about profiling & team interaction. Why do personal storylines have to mean romances? Writers can introduce a plethora of other personal storylines concerning the characters. I know some fans indicated that they do not mind hints of romances for characters. While I agree that this is much better than an entire storyline on Hotch’s love interest, I still do not like the idea of Hotch getting a romance THIS Season. Let fans guess about the dating activities of the characters. It is much more fun this way and divides fewer fans. Even Shemar Moore said that Morgan does not have time to date since he is busy chasing criminals. I respect this comment. Morgan does not have time to date but Hotch now does???? We have all the team members back so why cause more tensions among the fans. I wanted all fans to enjoy the show. I have corresponded with some fans, and I know many do not approve of Hotch getting a romance. I think it is better that the writers not take that route for now. And, why did they have to announce a romance for Hotch? Why not just give Morgan, Prentiss, & Reid romances since they did not have many love interests during the 6 Seasons of the show? Why does it have to be Hotch who is my favorite character? This is not a very exciting storyline, and I am a bit shocked the writers would take this route.

I am also concerned that Janine Sherman Barrois is writing the so called 7.10 episode where Hotch’s love interest is introduced since I disliked the 13 th Step episode she wrote. This episode was too graphic (for many reasons) and inappropriate for the show Criminal Minds. I am also concerned that Barrois said we might see Hotch’s scars and he will be shirtless. I sure hope this means he is swimming or participating in a sport!! Another MAJOR concern of mine is what a spoiler announcement just said about another episode involving Hotch’s past. It indicated that Hotch will meet a former female student during a case who is now a detective. I hope this does not mean that Hotch is going to date many women or it is hinted that Hotch had an affair with her when he was still married to Haley. This would be terrible since I always respected Hotch for having morals and being loyal to Haley. I do not want his character to change. Yes, I do want him to be happy but why is happiness always romance. Too many shows take this route and to me this is the downhill of these shows. I always thought Criminal Minds was more unique and better written than most crime shows on TV. Now I am not so sure.

This is a terribly hard decision for me and I know it is only a TV show, but I am almost 99.9 % positive that I cannot stand to watch Criminal Minds anymore if Hotch’s morals change or he gets a love interest. I will have to watch my season 1-6 DVDS from now on. I am saddened by this, but I strongly feel that I have to finally say goodbye to one of the best shows and character on TV. I would have rather had the show end than to continue like this. Thanks for letting me voice my concerns & post my opinions on this blog during the past few months. In a great episode of Criminal Minds, Hotch once stated “sometimes the day just ends”. For me, sometimes a great show just ends…..

I like that we will learn more about characters such as Reid, & I AM VERY HAPPY THAT MESSER CONFIRMED THAT there will not be romances between team members ! I thought Episode one was great (although episode 100 was better).However, I did not like one comment that Messer made in both the interview and Twitter chat. It dashed much of my enthusiasm for Season 7, and I just might watch select episodes rather than every episode of the season. I know that some people will totally disagree with me, but I am still going to state my opinion. Messer indicated that there will be a Romance for one of the agents this season, but she could not tell people who it is. However, in another statement she strongly hinted that it will be Hotch since she indicated that we will see his character in a new light and he needs to move on from Haley's death & smile again. Also, Thomas Gibson said he wanted to see a romance for Hotch soon.I could be wrong but to me this defiantly sounds like we are going to see a romance for Hotch this season. I know many fans will be happy about this, but in my opinion I am NOT AT ALL IMPRESSED AND AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. IN MY OPINION, A MUCH MORE CREATIVE STORY LINE CAN BE WRITTEN FOR HOTCH IN WHICH HE STILL DEALS WITH HALEY'S DEATH .I want to see more about the personal lives of characters, but I do not think this necessarily means romances. I think writers can explore other aspects of personal lives. We already have enough romances with JJ & Will and Garcia & Kevin and maybe Rossi and his ex-wife. I was hoping that they would explore how the team helped Hotch to cope with Haley's death & wanted to see more scenes with Hotch and his son. In addition, I want to know why Hotch is so serious(I like that he is so dedicated to his work ). Maybe Hotch could get a date in the last few episodes of the series, but with at least 2 years left of the show I think it is too soon & too predictable. I agree with what Shemar Moore said in a recent interview that we would NOT SEE A ROMANCE for his character because Morgan is too busy hunting criminals ! Criminal Minds was unique in that we did not see too much romance for the characters over the years. I can watch any show if I want to see romantic story lines. I want to see more profiling & more team interaction !
