Why does voicing an opinion have to mean someone will stop watching the show or hates the show or isn't a real fan of the show? This is a forum to discuss the show, and part of discussion is people having differing opinions. Usually when two main characters get together who weren't together at the start of the show it signals the beginning of the end. Will this happen with CSI: NY? Who knows. But I, for one, like Mac and Stella's dynamic the way it is and think a romance would just screw it up.

Ok, I agree with that BUT real drama{marriage/sex/relationshi p} between two characters who are not planning to leave the show has never really worked out for any show, viewers end up hating one or both and the show goes down the tubes, especially if they are main characters not day players or none contract.The problem comes from not setting it up properly and taking the time to build the characters relationship OUTSIDE the office, not give them a strong background, not just one explained through flashbacks because the writers decide to just throw the two together for ratings sweeps week.That is not creating drama within the scurcture of that show, that is just trying to get huge enough ratings so the show will be picked up again and or so they can sell advertising at a higher rate per minute for that show.

I am glad that they have finally brought MAc and Stella together. As i said before with the Flsck and Angel thing that today many crime fighting shows usually have partners that are guy/girl and they always have this tension between them and is always there. They know every little secret about eachother but they cant reach out and kiss them. Peyton didn't work in the lab. She worked in the Medical Examiner, not the lab. So technically, they weren't co-workers. I didn't mind that relationship because of the fact they didn't work together. Mac and Stella together as a couple would just be too much, especially as long as they've been friends and Melina herself said they'd never get together unless it was the last season.

I am glad that they have finally brought MAc and Stella together.

well, to be honest with you when i first watched the show i thought that stella and flack would get together,

I think Stella and Mac would make a great couple mainly because of what they have gone through together. I do, however, believe that the dynamics of their working relationship would have to change. Mainly because Mac will not do anything that is not above board or that would jeopardize the lab's integrity. So I envision a scenario where Mac or Stella gets promoted... something happens that they would no longer be partners.The truth is, a large number of coworkers end up in relationships. As for the relationship angst that would surely follow, all relationships have drama. I think it would be a credit to any writer that could actually have two main characters in a relationship that didn't blow up (especially around sweeps month) or get too sappy. But I don't think most viewers really want to see happily ever after on TV, otherwise there would be a successful drama on TV with a main character in a happy relationship. There is an angst whore in all of us. We love the drama.

Does anyone know what happened to the lady who was in one episode - there was a running joke about coffee and checking schedule? At the end of that show Mac says something about "she looked back, nice." Who was she supposed to be? Mac's superior or an HR type? It would be better if he had a romance with someone like that who we just saw occasionally, maybe meeting up at the foot of those stairs and walking away snuggling?That way he and Stella could still interact as 'working couple' and not get overboard with entanglements. He can play family with Lindsay and Danny, ... be seen at beginning of episode eating in fancy restaurant with fancy lady, planning a date or - - - and his phone rings; "sorry sweetheart code ??? on 54th street." At the end maybe Stella walks into his office and says "I'll finish the report, don't keep her waiting Mac" and kisses the top of his head. As for Stella she should have a bookish type who brings her flowers, poetry, and smaltzy stuff ... lines like "you are too pretty to be getting pushed around by bad guys" "I wish you would quit chasing guys like that, you are going to get hurt" and treating her like princess which totally torques her off. "I can open doors for myself" "I can get up without your help" All while enjoying the attention.

Stella was there to be happy for him when he decided to take his own destiny on his hands. I cannot speak for other people, but i myself don't watch shows merely for the crime, i watch it mainly for the characters. If wanted to watch a show just for the crime procedure itself, i'd be watching Cold Case Files, America's Most Wanted, FBI Files, or stuff like that, not CSI. The greatest thing of procedural shows is the ability to mix intriguing, mind boggling crime stories along with the characters and their personal lives. Without the crime, it would be just soap-opera. Without the characters, it would be just a crime documentary. There's a balance that should be achieved. I guess Stella and Mac relationship fit perfectly within the show, and making it work or not is the writers responsability. They wrote in D/L wrong. It would require very bad writing to screw up Mac and Stella, reckon their great chemistry. I agree their relationship should start subtle, low profile, just like you said. Now i'll cross my fingers in hope TPTB give Mac and Stella a chance.I heard Melina is writing the season finale, hopefully she'll be generous smacked wise.

If Stella wasn't a cop, she wouldn't have a gun, so she wouldn't have killed her boyfriend. She was just defending herself, and that's why she didn't get charged with murder. I'm sure the same would apply to someone else who wasn't a cop, becasue otherwise it would be a violation ofthier rights.

I am highly disturbed by a SPOILER I read concerning them and the finale, about there being some heretofore unrealized chemistry between them. I swear to god if they kiss, I am not watching this show anymore. Isn't it enough that we have to put up with Danny and Lindsay? If they hook up Mac and Stella as well or even just hint at it, this show is going to turn into a goddamn soap opera. And that is not what I'm looking for in a detective show.

I agree with you to a point. I believe in a man/woman friendship, I like the one between Gil and Catherine (CSI), never wanted them paired as a couple. I, also like the brotherhood type between Morgan and Penelope (Criminal Minds) and can't imagine them as a couple.

But (there's always a but ) since the begining of CSINY, I noticed a certain chemistry between Mac and Stella and as, it very often happen in RL, people meet at work and couples form, that's why I'm into SMAC pairing on CONDITION that it must be smartly written, not lame and DEFINITELY not a soap opera type.

I trust CSINY's writers to deliver a smart, à la SMAC detective way relationship.

I Don't think they would work out for various reasons i know Mac was devistated when Payton decided to stay in London but he has to get over it and Stella and Mac look to eachother for support but i don't see any chemistry between the two i you know what i mean.

That may be a huge condition for the writers. If they do commit to Smack, controversy will undoubtedly follow.

Yea i believe the same thing, Not EVERY man and woman that works together MUST get together as a couple BUT i really do believe its not wrong for fans to want them together because they DO have chemistry on screen and it makes the fans wonder..they have all these little moments between them that the producers tease the fans with so i really do hope they end up together even though i really doubt anything is gonna happen like NOW!!!...its def gonna happen throughout the show though, there is NO way the producers are gonna ignore that!

I personally think that their friendship will not be effected if they started seeing each other outside of work. These two seem like the type of people that would be able to keep their professional lives and love lives totally separate...plus, they've known each other for so long and they seem like the two closest characters on the team. Sure they have the occasional fight, but don't the best of friends fight every now and then? They have wonderful screen chemistry and lots of "unresolved sexual tension". *Puppy eyes* PLEASE let them be together, dear writers...Mac and Stella deserve each other...no more freaks like Peyton or Frankie (or Drew to that matter) or else no more Ms. Nice Miyukiseta!!!!!!!!

They would totally work in a relationship. But, I don't think either charater is ready yet. We saw that with Mac when he called Peyton "Claire". And, when he still talked about her, and how he still feels her loss every day. And Stella. After Frankie, she didn't trust Drew(Thank God) or anyone else who has flirted with her. The only men in her life are her co-workers. She hasn't made an effort to make any other friends since Frankie. I do think they will end up together. They have what it takes to make it as a couple. They helped each other through all the tough times they had, and never (really) doubted the others judgement. I can't wait to see what the writers do. One week until the season finale.

I totally agree rachbeall. I thought this episode was perfect. I loved the cute little moments between them. They have such a great chemistry together, which makes it so fun to watch. They don't even have to have a romantic scene/exchange or whatever written for them, because the way that they look at eachother during those little moments (like tonights episode when they were sitting on the couch in Mac's office) says even more than words can.

I loved this episode, and mostly for the Mac/Stella moments as well. I always thought those two had really good chemistry, and their connection just grows and grows every season. I thought she did a pretty good job with the story, kept me interested through the whole show. Consider me a SMacked fan!!

As a side note, I don't know if I'm feeling the name Lucy for the baby. Where did that come from?

I love their chemistry, and they just fit together like a jigsaw puzzle! lol

When I saw 5x24, it was amazing..The whole Mac andStella scenes in Greece, and back in the lab, and my favorite bit was when she read the grounds, and she told Mac, that "S is for Stella, the women in your life that you adore, but can sometimes really annoy you...." Awwwww! SOOOOOOCUTE!!!!!!

Can't wait to see more SMacked moments in Season 6, and I really want to know our team is okay after all being shot at in the final moments of the Final Season Episode! Bring on the new season already!

And yeah, whats with these finales?I watch Grey's too, and I watched it right after the CSINYcliffhanger, then i was like "what?!?" lol.

Yeah, Ihate it when they end it like that and makes you just want to know what happens next like now!! I still think Snow Day was the all-time best CSI NY finale. It just had everything and a happy ending.

I agree 100 percent with martinamfan. It is quite obvious to me that they are meant for each other and there is no need to wait until the final season. Danny and Lindsay worked well together in a relationship and that didn't affect the show, so why can't Mac and Stella?

Their different views on life would cause lots of fights.
Stella: Playful, loving, caring, nice, outgoing, talkitive, wild, open, pretty tolerant of things & people, careless/care free, lives life on the edge, likes danger, partier, drinker, free spirited, confident, strong, tough, pretty, fashionable, young, dresses revealingly, trendy, behavior can be a bit slutty (I DON'T THINK SHE'S ONE, her behavior & the way she carries herself has slutty traits however. like how she acts around guys, & how into guys she is, & how she kisses guys all the time.) [[i love csi: ny & stella! i didn't mean slutty in bad way!]] she has that attitude which guys find sexy, she's well liked by everyone (including guys) and everyone is always commenting on her looks which would probably cause a problem with Mac.

CSI:NY didn't air its first episode until 2004, and its only been on for 5 years... lol. So, like me, you've been waiting 5 years for them to get together.And how can you mean slutty in any way other than a bad/insulting way??? I think Stella is an excellent rolemodel for women. She's strong, brave, and independant, but is still very feminine, and beautiful. I for one think she's AWESOME, and probably my favorite female character on tv.

PS -Mac & Stella's chemistry is undeniable and I hope they get together in season 6!!! And I agree with "Flack4evr" they already pretty much act like a couple, so what would make it so "weird"?

I agree with your assesment of Stella's character. Although I don't always care for the revealing tops the wardrobedept puts her in. After all, most of us couldn't (and shouldn't ) get away with wearing something like that. Other than that I do like her character. As for her and Mac, I think they should stay just co-workers. Although it may not be 'weird' having them be romanticly involved, it would just change the dynamics of the show too much. Maybe some day they could get together for the series finale....many, many, many years from now.

I agree. The fact that the lets the characters have personal lives is half the reason I watch it. Both Stella and Macs characters are very complex, emotional people. I heard that the new season starts september 26. I hope there is more smack

I think CBS is waiting to long for their relationship to grow. If they wait any longer the whole Mac/Stella relationship thing will get pathetic, and when it does finally get to the point where they're finally together nobody will be interested because CBS waited to long and the viewers lost interest. Thanks to your indications: that it was the coffee shop shoot -out' episode, I found it.

It's S01E23, two minutes before the end and Stella looks stunning in her evening dress.

Mac and Stella were getting, subconscially, smacked. I love it.

Well, this is my first post, and my first time on CBS community, but here is my opinion.

Though I'm a HUUGGEE lover of Smacked, if they get together, IMO, it might become boring for the show, because the bomb exploded for Mac and Stella being together already, and then that's it. So probabl if Mac and Stella get together, the writers might have to end the show.

But don't get mad at me, ILOVE the chemistry between Mac and Stella, even Iwant them to be together, just not too early. IDK, I might not know much, because I only watched season 1 and half of season 2 only. Need a lot to catch up on

About Peyton, I don't really know much about her, because I didn't watch any episodes of her yet, but at least she kept Mac happy for a while

Gotta agree with you about M & S getting together. Good for the chemestry of the show but don't really wanna see them get together.....maybe for the final season it would be okay.

Apparently Christina Murphy is casting to be Kaye Sullivan the new series regular. She looks like a younger Melina.K and her character's description is as "a young, attractive risk-taker whose personality has elements of Lindsay, Dr. Peyton Driscoll and ADA Natalie Greer".

Do you think that means troubles in SMAC paradise?

I like the dynamics as it is. I seriously don't think Stella and Mac 'need' a romance at this point. After all we are stuck with Lindsay and Danny. If anything, bring back Peyton.

IMO, Mac and Stella definitely need some romance in their lifves.

Count on CSINY writers not to let Danny and Lindsay live happily eever after.

i seen an interview (stella ) was asked about a relationship between her and mac she stated they have more of a brother / sister relationship and if it ever did it would have to be the end of the shop since there both leads, i like the fact my self that two people of differant sex can be close friends and nothing more, why ruin a good thing

I think maybe, they will get together. But something Big will have to happen. I mean, think about it. Almost everyone else has "gotten it on" with a Co-worker. Danny-Lindsay Mac-Payton Don-Jessica And ya never know, maybe Adam-Kendal. Why NOT Mac-Stella? I think maybe Mac will say something that, at the time, seems romantic, but after you think about it for a while, it will just seem corny. Then Stella will do something that hides the fact that she feels kinda insecure right then, Mac will see it, and...Boom.

The way i understand it stella wasnt intrested in the 333 stalker he was presuing her, ya she shoot the other 3 times , Maybe mac& stell get along so well because of the respect , history, and deep friendship not every friendship that is great should end in a romance, I do agree if they ever decided to bring them together the shows over i personaly dont want to see that happen,

I wish people would stop acting like a man and a woman cant just be friends! Dont get me wrong, i do think that Mac and Stella would be a good couple, but if they get together the show will probably end soon after or one of them will leave the show whch wont be happening anytime soon! Think about it, if they get together before that what will happen if they break up? The show is a drama so theyre not just going to be a hppy couple and if they break up it will probably be a pretty bad break up and then after that there will be a lot of tension and awkwarness between them. I do like the idea of Stella and Mac dating, just not each other, i think they should both date people outside of work. For now at least.

Especially when they talked about how they had kissed while he was married to Claire.WTF?I wish they didn't bring that out, I can't believe Mac would do that Still, I love Mac so I'm gonna go ahead and blame her for it. LOL

Oh I remember her. She's such a flirt, I dont like her either... She was talking about the past, and I dont think that's a right time to talk about that=V= Ella...that's one last scene showed that Ella wrote on a card that "I'm gonna make him love me"(sth like that) I'm wondering that "him" would be Mac. She is too young and too aggressive. Quite a dangerous young girl. Flirty Mac @v@ That's the scene that made me unlike these two guys being together lol haha
