Hey,writers! Get with the program!

First off, I LOVE this show ... I tape every episode that airs (at least 2 a day), and I can watch them over and over and still find them to be the funniest, best written shows on the air..... and that's why I'm so disappointed in the new season so far. They're just not as funny. Alan's character seems to be digressing, not progressing. And why have they aged him so much this year? His haircut is awful, and it's as if he's lost his charm. And he's my favorite character!Jake's tough because he's not the cute kid anymore, but how many food jokes can there be? Give the guy a girlfriend or something. And for heaven's sake, do something with Charlie's hair! Sheesh .... it's hard to even look at him with it hanging in his face like that .... Charlie Sheen is a good looking guy -- take a look at the middle years: he's so much better looking when his hair is off his face.I just don't get it: they've turned Alan into a 50 year old neurotic, Jake into a minor character, and Charlie's more of a dirty old man than a lovable lech.Writers: have you even SEEN the previous seasons? It sure doesn't seem like you wrote for any of them! This is a fabulous show with a great history. Don't you DARE ruin it this year!

I so agree. I love the show too and watch the reruns all the time. How many sexual fanasties can you actually make Charlie have that are still funny? Give Jake and Holland Taylor some more air time. They are two funny characters that I love to watch. Jake is in his teens now. How many fart jokes could actually still be funny with him? Give him a life. Yes a girlfriend might be nice too. I realize Judith needs to be in the show but she should be a minor player....afterall the show is called Two and 1/2 Men. We really don't need to see all the sides of Judith. Work on Jake, Evelyn, and Rose characters. While your at it put more of Berta in there....she's hilarious. Can't wait to see what you come up with.

my husband and I were watching tonights (10/20) episode of the show and frankly were appalled at the scene with Alan receiving a lap dance. there is a line between humor and bad taste, and this show has crossed it.

Hey Writers, why ruin a great thing. Tonight's episode, 10/20/08, was awful. I will watch one nore episode and if it does not improve, I will NOT watch again.TOOOOOOOO much sex. Funny hints in past seasons, but this did not leave anything to the imagination. Blatent I think is the word. I can get that on any other show on TV. I expected better from you. In past seasons, this show was just good comedy, but this is toooooooo much. Please, I love this show. Don't ruin it. I used to look forward to it but no more if this is the kind of poor material that is going to be presented. The character "Jake" is great, but too young for this. Leaves a bad taste to be presenting, and involving, this kind of bad stuff to chldren his age.I am sincerely disappointed. I won't even watch reruns.Sincerely,An X Fan

I could even tell the actors didn't approve because their hearts were not in it. You could see it in their eyes. It was even poor acting.

I only agree partly, last nights show was not that funny. I only found two lines in the whole show funny, that is when is when Jake stuck his head back in the door and said"he drinks" . The other line was when berta said "ut OH" As for the crazy screaming redhead she was just awful. she took up the position as Jake's tutor, and she comes dressed as a fluezy, in that cheap peek-a-boo outfit. That is really going to keep Jake's attention on the books. They neeed to make the show more funny.

Honestly, the show on Monday (10/20) was pretty disgusting! This is on at 8 pm in this area! That does not belong on normal week night programming. The usual sexual comments are tolerable, but this lap dancing scene is way over the top! Clean it up guys! We always enjoyed the show before - please don't keep it in the gutter all season.Thanks.Julie

I agree. The episode that aired 10/20 went too far. I was very disappointed. When they aired the lap dance, I switched to another station. This airs in our area at 8pm also. That is too early in the evening to air the kind of things this one showed. I will give this show another chance next week because I think it is normally very funny, but if it is as vulgar & in your face as it was tonight, I am switching TV stations for good.

I PVR the show every week so that we can watch again, this one I deleted. I don't have kids but still was put off by this episode. Did they change writers? It is still a great show, but maybe go back to the 10pm slot and get the original writers.Jake is a great character and great child actor, give him something real to say and do. Teens do more than fart and eat. Even missing Judith!

Re:Hey,writers! Get with the program!

I and many of my friends were appalled at the episode involving the lap dance. It's so ironic that individuals in Hollywood purport to have social consciences yet they feel no sense of responsibility to families. Do they not have children or at the very least, judgment? Many people don't intentionally allow their children to see this show, as it is consistently inappropriate for the under 18 crowd, but it happens particularly since the show airs at a fairly early time (and reruns run as early as 7 pm) and I know the reality is that there are many parents who don't restrict or monitor the shows their children watch. Unless you want to battle a backlash of increasingly frustrated and concerned viewing block, clean up your act. Anyone can be smutty, but it takes real finesse and intelligence to write with subtlety and taste. Hasn't television been dumbed down enough? Is that the legacy your writers/producers want to leave? It's just another form of pollution.

My teenagers watch it once in a while....they laugh, and move on. It's TV!! NOT REAL LIFE! I am soooo SICK of EVERYTHING having to be politically correct ALL the time!! TV is an escape PEOPLE!! I'm glad to see a show that crosses the line. It's different, shocking...unpredictable. I tune in because I can't wait to see what's next!!
Re:Hey,writers! Get with the program!

I am finding the same thing this year as most of you are. It just doesn't have the glow it did the first few seasons. Alan has been made too old. He was Duckie in Pretty In Pink and until this season had not lost that boyish charm which is so lovely on him. Charlie has become just too dirty. He looks haggard and isn't the adorable cad like before. Unfortunately children grow and Jake is but he hasn't had a real front row seat this season. Ryan Stiles used to be a lot funnier on Drew Carrey and Who's Line Is It Anyway. Even Holland Taylor is not as ascerbic this year. I hope the writers do an about face and get their acts together or two and a half may equal zero next tv season. Be really sad to see it go, too. I think they have many more storylines in them if they work it right. And I love Concheta Ferrel and seeing her weekly is a lot of fun. I love her lines.

Yes, Berta is too funny. She has said that she has 3 daughters, so that means we need to see one more. I think they are actually reading these messages and paying attention as it has mentioned to get Emilo Estevez on the show and is will now be on an upcoming episode. They need to give Jake funnier things to do, when he was a kid he was funny and into poker like Charlie, lets make him like that again, he doesn't need to be the "typical" teenager. The kid has talent, let him use it.

Hey,writers! Get with the program!

I totally agree about Jake. He can be so funny and his one liners are classic. I was wondering, too if he, Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer actually sing the theme to the show. I am actually hoping that Rose and Charlie get together. I'd like to see someone come on to be a foil for and ultimately the main love interest of Holland Taylor on the show. I'd like to see Berta have a date or few and I'd like to see more of Alan's office life maybe incorporating some funny patients into it. It's out in California. They could have some well known guest stars going for chiropractic treatments. And for goodness sake, let Ryan let his hair down and whoop it up like he did on drew Carrey. I would like to see some of his cohorts like Wayne Brady, Drew and Colin make some cameos.

Re:Hey,writers! Get with the program!

I've been watching Two and a Half Men since day one. I've always enjoyed the show! I'm very disappointed this season. I'm not sure whats going on with the writers. Are there new ones? Charlie has always had a drinking problem and definitly a sex addict. This season he's just a lush and a dirtly old man! I wish he could clean his act up a little. (or more). His hair is gross! He makes a lot of money so spend some of it on a stylist! His clothes - Who dresses like that and still gets women? Alan - oh my! He's in his forty's and still doesn't know how to interact with the world. He's a dork! I really was disappointed in the episode when he got a lap dance. My husband and I used to watch this show with our kids, which are older. But not anymore! We were all "red" during that episode! Then last Monday when his ex went down on him at the dinner table! There's really nothing left to the imagination anymore. And Jake, what a cute kid! I know he's growing up but Charlie needs to tone down his conversations or remarks to Jake. He's a kid! Jake's his nephew!!! If I were Jake's mom in real life, I'm not sure if I would let him stay on the show. I would love to see more of Jake. Maybe get him a girlfriend. Charlie doesn't need to give him advice on girls either. I don't care too much for Judith. She's creepy! If I were Alan I would take her back to court. I miss the mom and I wish Berta was on there more! She cracks me up with her "few words" of humor. Really and truly I love the show but it has to much "SEX" and "ALCOHOL" in it and considering lil' Jake, you really should clean it up!!! I'm not sure if the writer's read the reviews that we write on here but I think the census is CLEAN IT UP!"

Ok, my first comment would be, doesn't EVERYBODY age? Jon Cryer did Pretty in Pink yearssssssss ago. Of course he's lost his boyish charm, he's NOT a boy anymore. I have and continue to be a fan of this show. Every show has a bad episode or two. This show since the begining has crossed a line or two, or ten. That's what makes some people watch it. Fan's always talk about networks being loyal to fans, I think the fan's need to show their loyalty at times too. This show is WORTH all the loyalty the fans can give it. Life these days is hard enough, it's nice to turn on your television and escape reality for awhile and laugh at these, 2 and a half men.

I have been a fan of two and a half men since day one and I am disappointed with the current season. What I felt was that, currently the new season is not going anywhere or should I say it is not going to some place where it has not been before. It seems like there is no surprise so far in this season, everything we have seen and they have done before. Alan got thrown out (again); Charlie is ruining his and Alan’s life (again). Things just did not change at all!! I was hoping for something new in this season, I was hoping that maybe Charlie and Alan suddenly swap their life style with each other, a day in Alan’s office, Jake’s day in school, Alan got a stalker of his own or even the house became Alan’s instead of Charlie and we see Charlie sponge off Alan instead. So much can be done to this series and yet the writers choose to travel the safe route.

Hey,writers! Get with the program!

It appears the writers here like on Ghost Whisperer must either be out to lunch/out for a drink/drug or quickie..I think they have gotten lazy. The acting is great. Let us see more of the repartee between Charlie, Berta,Jake and rose where is rose...? Time for cleaning up the show. vulgarity may sell at sleezeyeey dives, and porno shops. No lap dances, no vulgarity. It is a shame that the writers think the characters are devoid of any human growth. Are they trying to get fired..hmmm live in Mexico? hmmm Maybe it is time for the brothers to find real love, have one lose it, have Rose pop in to wake them all up. Candi is a good character for a quick laugh, have her beg to be part of the family so she can enter a beauty contest for moms...

New show dynamic

I agree that the writing has become uneven and less funny. I think it is partly because it is harder for the writers to create new unexplored story lines. Because of this, I believe it is time for the show to evolve. That is of course if Cryer and Sheen are willing to stay on for a few more years. I believe one new character needs to be added. One of charlie's old flames meets an untimely death and leaves him with a new addition to the house, a 6 year old daughter.... call it Two and a half men plus one. (I think someone could come up with a much better name.)The Odd couple parnets of Charllie and Alan dealing with a little girl and the problems and challenges she create would add a wealth of new story lines and potential plot twists. Let your imagination take it from there.

2.5 Men is by far my favorite show. I actually make a point to be home for every new episode... and even some of the syndicated re-runs on the CW network. My wife and I also have all DVD sets released. Yeah, I'm gonna have to echo the sentiments of quite a few posters and say that yes, the writing seems to be a bit un-even this season. Heck yeah, I still get quite a few laughs from the show, and I still enjoy it.. I just wish they would tighten up a bit with some of the story lines, give the supporting cast more screen time, and reel Charlie and Alan back a bit. I find them almost cartoonish this season... a carry-over from the second half of season 5 in my opinion.I see a lot of people complaining about the Miss Pasternak episode. I wasn't too squeamish about the lap dance scene... i just thought it wasn't a good episode in terms of bringing back a character from season 2, and then making everything so unbelievably goofy. I was disapointed.

I own all the dvd sets. The best stuff on TV. Now... lose Jake the "little Charlie". Jake needs to go to off to college, or Iraq, or the Hudson River. He's not funny any more, he's cynical and mean. A new little kid might be good, like the illegitimate child of one of Alans escapades. And how long does it take to write Judith out? She could go off to Tibet with one of her lovers (male or female, doesn't matter). Berta's great, maybe more interaction with her world. And last but not least, get creative, not repitative! More blatent sex is not the answer.

I just watched the Jan19th episode and had to comment. I was very upset by the homophobic writers use of the word "gay" as a negetive expression and also of the slur "mo" in the character "Jake's" lines. Why was this necessary? Are they just too stupid to think of entertaining scripts? The entire story about "Charlie" in Bangkok was unnecessary and offensive. This show has gone down the drain. It isn't funny in the least. I will not be watching this show anymore. My hope is that others will express their concern and these "writers" will be fired!

whitelorelei wrote: First off, I LOVE this show ...

I totally agree, as Charlie looks so much better with his hair slicked back

This show is hilarious. My husband and I have a good laugh every time we watch. I am amazed at how critical people here are. Writing is very difficult and all shows have their "slower" seasons. Like Seinfeld and the Simpsons. This show is still pretty funny in my opinion. And as far as Alan's age, I have not noticed. I am in my mid 20's and I think he looks great and doesn't seem old at all. And the show wouldn't be half as funny without him no matter what his hair looks like you weirdos! For all of you who are upset about the lap dance scene- I don't understand. This show is about sex!! Just record it and watch it after the kiddies are in bed! Seriously, how can you pick out that one scene and rant about it??!!

Re:Hey,writers! Get with the program!

Hi writers, actors, producers and all involved in this great show. I adore the psychiatrist scenes, it's good to see a woman besting Charlie and scoring a few points for womankind. More Berta, more Alan and more Rose please. A real romance for Rose and Alan (together) would be brilliant. Maybe the show can move into "Two and a half men and a baby"..... girl? (Later to become a little lady) a la Tom Selleck and co. When Rose has Alan's love child she is initially involved in her daughter's care but has a post natal crisis, she then moves back home, next door and is a parttime Mom, as she chooses to step aside and relinquish the raising of her baby to Alan and Charlie. They are besotted with this tiny cherub and become doting fathers wrapped around the baby girls little finger. As she gets older some hilarious material could develop when she goes to Creche and Charlie has "flash forwards" of her being a ditzy Rose/Alan type teen/ blossoming young woman, with him fending off low life males much like himself. This can be instrumental in helping Charlie to at last modify his behaviour towards women when he becomes traumatised at the thought of Charlotte (Charlee Junior) being at the mercy of this type of guy. He can also use her as a chick magnet. Lots of material could be generated with maybe Alan and Roses' baby having playdates with Judith and Herbs' baby (boy?) Jake of course would also play a part in his sisters upbringing. Think of all the great poopy jokes from Berta etc....Best wishes and Many thanks for this light relief Kind regards Lindy Monrad

I love this show, it's my favorite show ever. I've only seen a few episodes of the current (the 6th) season but so far it seems fine to me. Jake needs more lines, and more funnier ones. He's not the cute kid who makes fart jokes all day long anymore, unfortunately. I agree that Jake should get a girlfriend. Wendy Cho, anyone? They should get married when they're older - and then Wendy should dump Jake. Just like Alan Jake will turn out to be a complete and utter failure!Hopefully this wonderful show will continue for a few more years. I know that it eventually will die, two and a half men isn't like Simpsons. And that's a good thing imo! Don't replace any of the main actors/actresses - that would be a fatal mistake. The day when Sheen says he doesn't wanna do it anymore - or when they say he can't do it anymore - that's when it's time to end the sitcom of the sitcoms - Two And A Half Men.

first of all i love this show, and i watch it every time it comes on.

i agree that the quality has declined this season but one thing that annoys me here is that people keep whining about the lapdance scene... come on people it was2008!!! come out from the middle ages and stop freakin whining about stuff that dont matter!!! that episode was one of the funniest this season.

but back to the season. i agree that Alan and Jake should be brought back into the show a little more. i dont want this show to be cancelled and there is still a whole lot of great stuff that can be done with it. One idea i have is to make an episode in a "twilight zone style" where Alan is like Charlie and Jake is smart or something like that.

the worst thing about this season is that Charlie has become such an insecure looser. i think we all loved the good old confident Charlie. Alan is no longer focused on at all. i think he should move on a little from Judith and get out there and do something, Alan style . and the part about giving Jake a girlfriend is also a great idea. there is a whole lot of stuff that can happen there.

another idea i think is pretty good for a few episodes is this: Carlie suddently gets a wisit from a long lost son who is about 22 years old, and iswery muchlike him, so Charlie gets a little competition.

there is a lot of good ideas for the show yet so please writers, open your minds a little and start thinking about what you write again.

Suggestions for new show ideas. You reallyneed them. I think that Charlie is looking worn and tired. Try tomake him more upbeat and doing more things like surfing or walking on the beach enjoying his life. Give him a job in a band as either in a wedding band or in a bar band. He would fit in there and the things he could do there would be so funny. Put rose in competition with another stalker and bring her more into his life. Have Charlie go into roses house and show us her world and what she does on a daily basis. Have Charlie go along with her on a day of her life because he is bored and have him try to help her see her crazyness. As he is shown his own craziness. Have rose show him where he is not all there too. May be fun to see them analyze eachother and find they are not that different. Jake should get a girlfriend who is roses younger sister and is alot like rose and let him experience his first real kiss and add a econd girl who he has to choose crazy and fun or stable and cute. Might be fun. Show Jake at school in his element and show his daily stuggles. No drugs, just him trying to understand what he is learning. Have a guidance counselor test him and find he could be the next President, aLeader or even an astronaut. It would be funny. Alanneeds to bemore manly andshow him trying to fix a car because he is having hardtimes or even getting into watching sports. That would be funny and unexpected. Have berta getbring men she is dating into the fold. Someonewho is stable and verygood looking. Shock the audience. Havehiminfer to how much of a great lover she is. Maybe John O'Hurley from the Family Feud. He is classy, odd and would make a great guy to compete against Charlie. Make them both the same and keep him in the show as Bertas squeeze and have him help berta clean the house dockers pants rolled up, dress shirt and barfoot trampling around in the house. This would funny as hell. Just some suggestions hope they help.

Re:Hey,writers! Get with the program!

New to posting...first time. I have to agree with the "not as funny" posts. Hubby & I noticed it after the writer's strike, and it just hasn't come back from that. We watch the reruns, 2 a day, and sometimes, Monday nite is a let-down. I realize it's hard with a kid that's growing, but agree with everyone that Jake needs to evolve. We always said that it was so perfectly written, and wouldn't be the same without any one character. They need Rose back. They need more of Berta. I love how they make her seem like a lower working class at times, and yet, make her quite intelligent. I have 2 all-time favorite episodes, and neither are this year. One is Evelyin getting the fat from her **** put in her lips ("take care of your mother&quot , and the other is "Why didn't you just call THEGUY??" My heart broke when Rose left, & it sounds like it was her idea, but now that her new sit-com didn't pan out, the people would love to have her back! I would have to decapitate someone if they ever take this off the air...let's follow Jake through college....(yeah, right...ok, vocational school). But, I'm not sure I like the "Charlie settling down" road they are on right now. I know we all grow up, but not Charlie, please! Maybe a different type of evolution, because if he would settle down, Alan & Jake would HAVEto move out, and that would be the end of the show. It just hasn't been the same for awhile, but taking it off the air would NOTbe the answer. The writers just need to watch past years to remind themselves how funny it can be. I'm not sure why some continuations of story lines work (like the Courtney and Teddy thing, or the Mia thing), and some don't (like this Chelsea ordeal). I don't know....we all need to laugh, and Monday night is my Laugh Time.....I just need to laugh harder at my favorite show.

I was just reading a post that talks about people being upset with the lap dance episode. Are you kidding me??? I got my mother, who is 70 to start watching the reruns first, and now she stays up on Monday nights to watch the new season. She got my grandmother, who is 93, hooked on it. They love ALL the episodes! Now, if seniors can get into it and think it's funny, why are younger people complaining? TV is TV.....you have a remote. If I don't like something that is on, I change the channel. I realize people have different ideas of what is humorous, and that's fine. But life is too short to complain about stuff.....just turn something on that you don't want to complain about. "Nuff said!

They should dump Sheean

Charley Sheean is dragging down this wonderful show. Every time I see him on screen I think of the crap he does offscreen. He's as much a sleezbag off screen as he is onscreen. They had some wonderful writing in the past - that's what kept the show afloat. Did they fire those writers and get another group in at a cheaper rate - sure looks like it. It would be a shame to see that show go because of Sheean and poor writing. The supporting cast is superb - I hope they have their resumes ready because I see this show going under water unless the producers do something and quick. Sheean's latest outrage at the Plaza only emphasizes the need to dump him.

All I read is disappointing comments Writers come on where iare those the talent scripts and comic timing your fans love. Is Mr. Sheen's personal life upsetting your focus? No one looks happy even Berta isn't shining. Walking throw the glass door come on. The blonde wig, please. The advertisers are going to run away. Jake has no character left in him to grow on. You are re-using old material and bits and pieces from past shows. This audience is not fooled and the rating are dropping for good reason. In respect for a once funny entertaining show make this the last season. And Mr. Sheen get into rehab, stop working, straighten your life out.

Hey,writers! Get with the program!

The writing is spiralling downward into boredom for this fan. The alleged comic lines are now silly where they were once witty. And the humour has deteriorated from clever repartee full of inuendo to frat house fart jokes. Seems to me that Two and Half Men is going the way of Will and Grace: tacky and tasteless. Too bad, because the show has such great bones. Chuck Lorre, get over yourself and fix this mess!

Hey,writers! Get with the program!

I think I only semi agree with the topic at hand. I mean, I still think the show is hilarious, whether u think its bad taste or not, i personally dont give a crap. But I think they need to do a few things. One, bring in more of the best character on the show....Jake! Second, bring Rose back, I want to know what happens between her and Charlie since we know her wedding was fake but he is yet to figure that one out. I dont care for Courtney, I think that in the "Ow Ow, Dont Stop" ep she should have ended there. She is just a user and is making Charlie kind of look bad. I dont see any changes in Alan since the beginning of the show. He has always had bad luck yet tried the best that he could. I think its good that he is with Lindsay tho, I think its best if he has an ongoing love interest, like with Kandi. But I think they focus a lot more on Alan than the rest of the cast. I want more Jake definitly, Rose to come back, more Berta side comments, and Evelyn. Charlie is doing just fine. I actually liked him better the last ep or two, seems like a lot less scenes of him drunk and more scenes of him with witty lines to throw at his brother and nephew. Just take Courtney off and replace her gold diggin a** with Rose!
