When Barney comforts Robin at the bar after Simon breaks up with her (again) because I think they make one of the greatest couples of all time... And in The Limo when Lily calls Marshall's name and he comes running through the smoke with Shot Through the Heart playing the background. Absolutely classic.

Cause even though we all knew and were told Robin isnt the mom, we were still pumped when Ted made it rain, and they ended up getting together at the end. But then, right in the middle of riding that big high and cheering for ted, all of a sudden marshall's sitting on the curb in the pouring rain holding an engagement ring. And ted doesn't even say anything, he just goes from super excited to super shocked and sad... just like we did watching the episode.It was just a really good moment

This is a tough one because there are so many. So I may give multiple answers.1. I was driving back down to college and I am on Interstate 80 and this old piece of junk cuts in front of me to avoid a semi and at first I was a little ticked off but then I began to laugh uncontrollably because a freaking Fiero cut me off. I actually started to cry from laughing so hard.2. Season 2 the episode where Barney goes on the Price is Right. That entire portion of the episdoe was hysterical. Him telling the crowd that they are all wrong, showing Bob his high school pictures, crying when Bob tells him he is proud of him and the best was the dance he did after he got the Showcase right.3. Season 2, again, the episode where Ted and Robin have the big fight about what to do with all his stuff from ex-girlfriends. The very end when they are sitting at Barney's one man show and Marshall gets up and just slaps the living crap out of Barney and just says, "Thats two." And sits back down.4. And of course Barney's liberal use of "Legendary."

The best moment in all of HIMYM history is without a doubt the end of the Slapsgiving episode. The countdown, it's gonna happen, it's not gonna happen, then it does and it's slaptacular, not to mention it's only slap number 3 of a series of 5 slaps (when are the next two coming? I'm dying to see it!) It's awesome that it's a continuation of other previous episodes' storylines, and a precursor for more to come. But back to the episode, it's amazing when the slap occurs, and then the song, OMG the song! Marshall actually plays the piano and sings his song and Barney chimes in with his "oh's" It's so pricelessly perfect, and that moment is major awesomeness! (Everyone in unison say "Major Awesomeness!" and salute)

It got me hooked on the show from the very first episode! S01E19 Mary the Paralegal - the entire situation with Mary is brilliant! S03E01 Wait for it - the beard + the Ga-el name dialogue + Marshall crush + the tramp stamp + the way Ted won the break-up is pure pure comedy! S03E05 How I Met Everyone Else
 - first of all because this episode is the corner stone of my theory of how the show will end! (but that is something for another thread) Plus the how Barney met Ted and the growing sandwiches is fantastic!

For me, the most well written part in an episode is the final minutes of "Life Among the Gorillas" from season 1. After all the scenarios Blauman and Bilson give Marshal throughout the episode ending with "Go"; turning the final voiceover into a real life scenario and cutting to a blank screen with the final word of the episode being "Go" was complete television excellence. I still get shivers.Another favorite is Okay Awesome because, even though it is meant to be over the top, it is so true to life. Everything from taking forever to order a drink to not being able to talk over the crazy techno music is so true about crowded clubs.

I think that captures a good "How I Met Your Mother" show. It shows the episode through flashblacks (classic HIMYM).It keeps the audience lured throughout the whole episode by wondering who really caused the late plane flight.It all started with just one pennyAnd it sums it all up with the mother at the end of the episode when future Ted says, "The guy ended up having to relocate to Chicago, and well, I met your mother" (something along those lines.

My favorite scene (and I don't know the episode name, sorry) is the one where Ted is asking his parents how they met, and they give him this "I dunno" type answer, barely an answer, and he's furious and says when he has kids he'll tell them everything about how he met their mom because it's important! LOL I've only seen that episode once, but I love that scene passionately!!It was like the third episode I saw, and it could have been a repeat for all I know (because I didn't start from the very beginning). I fell in complete love with the show at that moment and have watched it devotedly since.   • Well, the most funny moment that popped up in my mind is when Barney finds out that Lily got a tape from his ex-girlfriend Shannon, with him singing a lovesong to her, which we get to see later (S01E15Game Night).

I just love Barney's voice when he's asking Lily WHERE'STHE TAPE?, and then tries to act casual as if it was nothing special. The lovesong is also fabulous, especially the first time you saw it, being so unexpected .

  • My favorite moment would probably be the end of "Drumroll, Please" (S01E13), when Ted finds Victoria in the Buttercup Bakery. Victoria runs against Ted saying "thank god" and kisses him, while the song "Spits on a Stranger"is playing which just fits perfectly with that moment. It's a fantastic moment, since Ted had been looking for her through the episode, afraid of never having to see her again.

Both moments are from Season 1, which might not be as funny as season the other seasons nor as good overall, but there are some moments in S01 that are priceless, which the other seasons don't even stand a chance against.
