Are the teams always this annoying?

This is my first time watching The Amazing Race all the way through. I caught an episode here and there in the past and I knew I would like it and now I am totally hooked and haven't missed an episode. While I love the show I have to say that now that the geeks Mark and Bill are gone I don't have anyone to root for. Every other team is just so aggravating and annoying. I guess Dallas and his mom seem like good people but outside of that I just want the rest to lose! I realize that something like this would really be stressful and I'm sure that they focus on the most dramatic parts (which are often when people are freaking out) but seriously, everybody that's left is just a ridiculous snapshot of the worst America has to offer. Terence & Sarah--He has to be the biggest douchebag I have ever seen. At first I couldn't understand why she was with him until her annoying side has come shining through.Frat boys--Lame and patheticAja and Ty--sometimes they don't seem so bad and then it goes really bad.Nick and Starr--Did somebody say spoiled rotten? And something just not right is going on between them.Kelly and Christy--I can see why they were dumped--vapid, delusional, paranoid, and the epitome of pampered materialists. I'd bet they're exes were VP's of Lehman brothers.Marisa & Brook--Pretty much a ditto of Kelly and Christy except with a slightly lower IQ which means they come across sweet instead of paranoid.and finally Ken and Tina--many posts on these two, no need to beat a dead beeyotch horse, and Ken is the stereotypical jock narcissist.Do they always pick suck shallow, annoying people for contestants in the past or is this just an off year. They are the reason why America has such a lousy name around the world--and CBS is sending these a-holes out to back up that fact.

I don't think Ken is that bad, but he does seem to be overdoing it a bit in kissing up to Tina. And I am really liking Sarah now after having my doubts about her in the first 2 episodes.Aja and Ty--Still no real "feel" for them. I don't think they'll last long, although I hope they do because you're right, unless Toni/Dallas make it to the final 3, I don't know who else I'd want to win.And for me, Season 10 had a pretty weak cast, althoug I did love the Beauty Queens. The rest of the teams that I thought I would like from that season all met an early demise, kind of what has happened this season.Last season was a great one, in terms of casting.

What exactly is so "awesome" about them? The red head (Andrew?) doesn't have a backbone and the other one is confused and annoying (Sorry to keep using that word but there isn't a better one for most of these people--at least not a word that I can use in polite company).Glad to hear that this is probably just a weak cast, gives me hope to watch future amazing races but I'll still continue to watch. I guess I'll have to root for Dallas/Toni but I fear that his mom just isn't going to be able to keep up. Then I'll watch just for the hope of a catfight between Starr and the divorcees. "Ca-Ca-Ca-CATFIGHT!!" ~Kramer from Seinfeld.

Re:Are the teams always this annoying?

Yes I know the producers referr to them as "the frat boys" my point is that no one calls them by thier right names they just say "the frat boys". And they are aweosme cuz I think they are awesome...they are funny, they make me laugh. And I just like them. I do admit that Dan does get a little annoying. And yes Andrew does have a backbone...if Dan would let Andrew get a word in edgewise you would see his capabilities. And plus they never show any of the exciting things with them on the show...but if you watch the videos that got cut out you would see. For example when they got the flat tire. Dan would have never been able to fix it if Andrew wasnt there to fix it. Maybe I should rephrase it and say its Andrew I think is awesome. And plus I think Andrew is a cutie.

There have been some outstanding people in the past seasons. "The Hippies" come first to my mind and Joyce and Ushenna (sp). I don't appreciate the cattiness we are seeing. It seems many shows on TV and even the US news media are catering to that and sensationalism. I want to see where they travel to and the different cultural challenges they face. I don't want to see the conflicts they have at the airports. For Crying Out Loud!

Are the teams always this annoying?

I think the point is to keep us watching, so the more annoying, the better in terms of the producers minds perhaps. We keep watching, we keep complaining, so their casting must be working. The truly annoying people season was the family edition. That mother and her 3 kids should have received a consolation prize for being the most whiny, annoying, lying bunch in the race ever.

In response to "Are the teams always this annoying?", the answer is yes. If you are new to the show and you think this season has too many annoying, bickering couples, then check out Seasons 5 and 6. Terence and Tina are very annoying but I think Jonathan, Colin and others from those seasons were far worse.

Re:Are the teams always this annoying?

This is absolutely the most annoying cast of all time. I swore before the show started this evening that if Kelly and Christy won I would never watch again. Thankfully they were eliminated! What happened to the people and personalities that you could root for?! Instead of picking a favorite to win I find myself rooting for the next most annoying couple to be kicked off. Thanks to Dan's arrogance and idiocy I am sure that he and Andrew will be the next to go, but really what's the fun in that. I would like to see people with some sense of integrity on this show. Of course we want the drama too but please you don't have to go so far to the bottom of the barrel, it makes this show much more like Real World Road Rules than The Amazing Race. America is a joke to the international community and these cast of characters simply add fuel to that fire. I have about 2 hours of t.v. time a week and I won't be wasting an hour of it on Amazing Race if things don't change. On a side note : Thank goodness for Christy and Kelley's departure this evening. Karma's a bitch and so are they! I bet their Ex Husbands are watching and congratulating themselves over and over again for divorcing these two. They are trash through and through and their actions on The Amazing Race stunk worse than an street in India ever could.

In my opinion this is the worst Amazing Race ever, there are no teams that I am rooting for or despise as in previous "Races". I hope it doesn't mean the end of the show. The Amazing Race is my favorite show on TV. I think the casting directors dropped the ball this time. I was glad to see the team of divorced girls eliminated last night. They never read the clues and wasted so much time. My sister and I vow to always read the clue thoroughly if ever given that chance! Still hoping to be chosen with my sister! Better look at previous applicants. They acted like they were helping out Dallas and Toni ONLY to save face and because they would not have been able to get away with it. That speaks volumes to me as to who they really are as people. How people interact and handle competition gives you true insight into their values and who they are as a person. I don't think anyone should be rewarded for such behavior.

The Amazing Race is by far the best show on TV. I always look forward to it, I have been a fan since season 1. I agree that this season has to be the worst cast by far. I wish someone else would come in first besides Nick & Starr or Ken & Tina. Let someone else win the first place prize. I hope Toni & Dallas win.

I don't think anyone should be rewarded for such behavior.

I thought they did exactly the right thing. They are a couple of nice kids. Too bad you can't see that.

I agree with you. Lying in this game is telling someone the clue is over that hill when it is the opposite direction. True, saying "I haven't found it yet" is a lie, but in the game saying "Yes, I found it" gives the other team information (which way you just came from is the right way to go) and is therefore hurting your cause (which, by the way, is to win a $1M). This lie is "You have to find it yourself without help from me".With regard to this past episode: Nick and Starr were heading back to the task start flag after figuring out what the tags looked like. That obviously took a few minutes. Yes, they understood that telling Toni and Dallas they had not found anything would gain them nothing as the pair would just see where they were looking and follow along. Had they already been halfway down the road with the proper numbers written down, I'm sure they (and I) would say 'no' and look busy until T&D were out of sight before they continued. As it was, the teams were 1 & 2 and they HAD to know it. N&S started 7 minutes ahead of K&C, 15 ahead of T&D and 36 ahead of T&S in 4th place. You KNOW they pay attention to how long it takes each team to get to the mat after they finish a leg. They both went through the 'paint ceremony' really fast and didn't see K&C at the 'telephone tag' task so they knew K&C got delayed somewhere. So it was the better STRATEGY for Nick and Starr to hook up with Toni and Dallas DURING the roadblock and pretty much insure a proper set of numbers the FIRST time so they could keep their lead. You notice no one suggested hanging together for the trip to the mat.Now it will be interesting to see just how aggressive Nick really is in the next episode with the clue grabbing. The previews can be intentionally misleading. Does he intentionally steal a clue from the Frat boy or are everyone's hands all grabbing at the same time and he just happened to grab one that someone else had just pulled? Think about it, other than the places where you pull a number to get in line, getting something 1/2 second before someone else isn't going to gain you any time in the race.

Re:Are the teams always this annoying?

OK, enough with the Nick and Starr are mean liars. Just watched the "The Amazing Race 13 - Deviously Brilliant" and "After you, I insist" clips. Starr actually asked Nick if they should let Toni and Dallas get to the mat first. Sure it is self serving, she wants people to like them and they have been first 3 times. But still, she does care about what people think! Nick, of course, said no. If T&D get there first he would be happy for them, but he is a competitive person and 'throwing' the leg win isn't in his plan. I suspect T&D wouldn't really want it given to them either. If you are racing, you want to WIN the leg, not be given first. On the other hand, Kelly and Christy were talking about how 'deviously brilliant' Kelly is because they got a map of New Delhi in the Bangkok airport and then hid all the other maps so no one else could get one. Now THAT is 'lying'. Being lucky enough to get the last map in the store is one thing, but intentionally hiding them is beyond 'strategy'. Oh yeah, and there is a clip with Ken and Tina. Looks like they TRIED to help K&C with the phone line tags but they didn't WANT any help. They just figured Tina was trying to cheat of their WRONG numbers. Guess that wasn't the best decision they made on this race. Then again, I just watched "Through Sarah's eyes" and she is saying N&S have done something to annoy at least one team every leg and always end up apologizing at the Pit Stop. Who knows, we only see 40 minutes a week of 48 to 72 hours of the race.
