I agree, heart211! Ryan hasn't really been getting much attention lately. And neither has Frank, either, for that matter! Ah well...I'm sure the writers will come up with something good. And hey...since I'm catching up here, with the previous seasons...I would like to know something. Does Ryan have a child? I only caught a few seconds on the intro to "Power Trip"...and I saw Ryan dropping off a little girl at an elementary school, and watched as she went in. What's the story, here? How far out of the loop am I?

Gidzmo...thank you! Now, I saw part of that episode but not all of it. (Ryan canreally throw down)! What I'm referring to is that very first opening sequence of "Power Trip" (which I only saw on-line). In this sequence, we are being shown what each CSI is doing when they get paged to come to a crime scene. Eric's in the shower (/drool), Calleigh's running and Ryan's dropping off a little girl...about age 6...at an elementary school. He watches her walk to the doors, very much like a father would watch his daughter. I think the episode still may be viewed on-line here at the site, but I'm not sure. It'll be in repeats and on DVD, so we'll be able to see it again. I wonder if this was a teaser for a future story arc?

Gidzmo...thank you! Now, I saw part of that episode but not all of it. (Ryan canreally throw down)! What I'm referring to is that very first opening sequence of "Power Trip" (which I only saw on-line). In this sequence, we are being shown what each CSI is doing when they get paged to come to a crime scene. Eric's in the shower (/drool), Calleigh's running and Ryan's dropping off a little girl...about age 6...at an elementary school. He watches her walk to the doors, very much like a father would watch his daughter. I think the episode still may be viewed on-line here at the site, but I'm not sure. It'll be in repeats and on DVD, so we'll be able to see it again. I wonder if this was a teaser for a future story arc?

OH! OKAY! I really didn't know this! See, I do not have satellite or cable (and refuse to!) and my local CBS station has terrible reception for my apartment. It wasn't until I purchased a new antenna that I was able to start picking up this channel, as well as I am now. My old one "died"...it came with my television set, and this new one is much stronger with it's longer antennas and the circular tuner (?) in the middle.

So, short story long, I have only been able to watch this season since about January...missing quite a few key episodes. Thanks for helping out!

Okay...this was more than a little mean. It's okay if you don't like a particular actor or his/her methods...but now you've gone and crossed the line. This whole "ready to cry" look is genetic . People ( especially those of a certain European descent) who have down-sloped eyes do have a tendency to look sad. It's NOT something we can help! So the next time that you feel the need to disparage someone's facial features, DON'T. Nobody is perfect, nor does one single person on the face of this planet have the "perfect" face. What you said was just downright mean.

I have very similar eyes to Jonathan...and that's why I like him so much. I also happen to appreciate the intensity that he brings to his character. And the "sad" (down-sloped) eyes are not a very desireable feature for most productions for just that reason - the actor looks "sad". Just as an example: I alsodid a few plays in college, which were recorded, and saw the same reaction. I had to work hard to make my eyes work for my characters.

I'm not usually so expressive and passionate about subjects that are posted on-line, but this is one that I felt really needed to be defended because I know that there are others - not even registered here - that will read this and be hurt, also. And yes...I am one of the many who have had to endure being hurt because of their looks...especially by those who were supposed to be closest.

That's all I have to say on this subject right now. It's more than a little upsetting.

He wants his crack team of pros to emulatea professionalism as he sees it. That is the reason Horatio calls Ryan - Mr.Wolfe.This gives Ryan status over the other team members as it should be. Well, technically Eric could have lost his badge due to the fact that he and H took revenge for Marisol's death.Calliegh could have lost her badge for telling her father to take a drink after he admitted to her that he thought he hit someone with his car. The writers are trying to give conflict to each of the characters and it is supposed to help them grow. I, for one, believe it makes the characters more complex, more real because without conflict, the characters are boring. And who wants to watch a boring CSI?

That's unfortunate,but I see a lot more Ryan bashing in other post,almost no matter what the subject. The subject may have nothing at all to do with Ryan and the posterwill end the post almost as an after thought to add a Ryan bash.For some reason people just see the need to bash.I'll ask the same question,isn't possible to like Cal, Eric etc. without bashing Ryan?

I would think both and all would be possible. I don't know why the writers are making Ryan so controversial lately for not following code. When he was Mr. OCD and by the book, they made him somewhat controversial, but still could be respected because what he was doing was the right thing to do technically. And the show was fine and he was too. So why did they have him do a 180? I think that is what has some of the members (myself included) up in arms. Whether you liked him or not, you had to respect his work. Now, those of us who like him (myself included), find it hard to respect him as a worker, and that is upsetting. This is not a bash, to make it clear, it is just the disheartened feeling we are having about his character at the moment. I would feel that way if it were any of them. --Had to edit a misspelled word, oops!

It's unfortunate isn't it? I've seen the insults fly both ways by fans of both on different boards.The fans of both characters throw the insults around.It's not only done by Ryan fans.I'm a fan of most on the show,but I've seen at times when something is being discussed that has nothing to do with Ryan,but a negative remark about him is thrown in as an after thought.The insults are made by a few,not by most of both Eric and Ryan fans.

Why Eric?, because Eric's fans are insult Ryan normally. In the show Eric and Ryan showed rivalry, it's normal the fans of each one face up. I thimk that Ryan is the best character on the whole show because he doesn't allow anything to affect him that easily and plus he's sexy.I'm not saying that he's never had low moments but he rarely ever shows it.What I would like to see on the show however is some more romance for him,at least a kiss !

Maybe Ryan might have a girlfriend in Season eight, who knows? The writers have been terrifically quiet for the moment. I think one of Ryan's lowest moments was the storyline where he had been fired and was working for reinstatement (Episodes #522-606). Horatio and Natalia do help him in different episodes, and Ryan acts as a bodyguard in another. One of Ryan's 'inbetween' jobs (when he's on television) causes trouble--but the past experience does help him later in season six ("To Kill A Predator" .

Look at how great they get along now.Calleigh was smart to make Ryan work with Natalia despite his anger.Now they can work together and they seem to do it well when poor Natalia gets a scene or two.

IIRC, that was in season two--Natalia was still working cold cases and grantwriting for the Feds then. She didn't start CSI training till season 5. I don't know when she made the transition from FBI to MDPD, though.

Nope,wasn't her. It was just a blonde.A poster on another board was able to aska writer on the show that just recently left about Erica's no show.The schedule didn't work out for the actress.If you check IMDB she has not been in any episodes for a a long while.

Erica seems, in large part,to have used Ryan for information. His relationship with her only seems to get him into trouble with Eric and Calleigh. Note the lab scene in 'Three-Way,' where Erica shows up to talk to Ryan about the recorder. Seems he's broken it and owes Erica money over it. Of course, Eric and Calleigh know nothing of this and only see Ryan talking to a reporter. Ryan could do with someone who cares about him as a person. She might be on the force, even in the lab--but if she is, they'll have to keep Rick from finding out.

'Fraternization' hasn't been allowed onlysince mid-season six. Eric has been interested in Calleigh long before that--he's just had to compete with Jake to win her attention. It's only been in the last two seasons where Eric actually expresses his feelings for Calleigh. And, since none of the team is particularly fond of Rick, they will find ways to keep him from finding out what they're doing--or let him speak his piece, then ignore him.

O.K.!! Another newcommer that shares my exact feelings--the only CSI really worth watching, Ryan, of course. I was glad too to see Speedle leave and introduce Mr, Wolfe. The show now has beauty & talent. But you're right- we need more eps with Ryan's personal background and plenty of drama. Let the brilliant minds at CSI Miami do some magic this season

It's been awhile since i've had anybody worth posting about so i'm a little rusty . Ryan is the most human and almost fragile character on there to me, which definitely makes him the most interesting in my opinion. Yet he seems to get left behind when it comes to building his character and i'm almost afraid as a newcomer to the show that it's a bad thing. I saw the interview he did just before "A Wolfe In Sheeps Clothing" so I know his character was actually written for him. Seems they would of had more in mind as far as his background than what has been shown. Not to mention serious lack of love interests there. I do agree though, I like Eric,Calleigh, and even Natalia and Horatio as well as Frank but if Ryan were to leave, so would I. I'd be content with catching every last old episode I had missed with him. Unbelievably thats already not that many in a short amount of time. I'm really hoping he gets some front and center attention this next season despite Eddie's addition and I'm a huge fan of Eddie. Oh and I also completely agree Johnathon adds both major beauty and talent to the show. Afterall he got me back into forums and I didn't think that was possible! lol

CSI: Miami Gets Hotter as Eddie Cibrian Joins Cast

Eddie Cibrian will be joining the cast of CSI: Miami as the popular CBS procedural enters its eighth season on Sept. 21.

Cibrian will fill the series regular role of an officer from the Hollywood division who joins Horatio's team in Miami, says the Hollywood Reporter .

There you go. I haven't seen anything else and as I reread this I realize it does say Delko will be back but it doesn't say he won't replace anyone else? As long as Ryan stays I'm good. I'm really hoping his arrival won't mean someone else is soon leaving. Anybody hears anything please post it.

CSI Files: Of all the episodes you've written for the show, do you have a favorite, or a few favorites? What makes those episodes stand out for you?

Miller: I definitely have some episodes that I look back on fondly, for different reasons. I'll always have a soft spot for "Tinder Box" , since it was my first. I like how "Under the Influence" turned out because of the emotionality, because of the huge personal stakes for Calleigh when her father came to her, believing he killed someone while driving drunk. I like the visceral quality of "Nailed" , and because of how twisted it is. I think "Triple Threat" is just fun to watch. It was fun making "Going Ballistic" because I felt like I was actually on the set of a Jerry Bruckheimer action film. But I think my favorite might be "Wrecking Crew" , first because I loved watching our amazing crew pull off the crane stunt in the teaser, but also because I think it's just a nice story with a good balance of emotion, spectacle, and mystery, which I think is the best template of a Miami episode.

CSI Files: You were instrumental in the development of the character of Ryan Wolfe ( Jonathan Togo ), penning the episode that introduced him and several other important ones for the character. Are you pleased with his arc throughout the series? Is there a particular direction you'd like to see him taken in?

Miller: It was great for Marc Dube and I to have some part in creating Wolfe, in "Under the Influence." And then for me to have a hand in shooting him in the eye with a nail gun a few years later. I joked with Jon Togo, "I brought you into this world, now I can take you out of it." Wolfe has definitely been through the ringer on the series. A lot of credit has to be given to Togo himself, who told the writers early on that he wasn't afraid to be wrong, or to be a hothead, or to be fallible. He may regret having ever said that, but we always looked at Wolfe as the odd man out. Even though he's a great CSI and was instantly a strong member of the team, I do believe he knows that he was living in Tim Speedle's ( Rory Cochrane ) shadow for a time. And that Delko ( Adam Rodriguez ) resented him for "daring" to take his place. I do think that Wolfe has had a decent arc over the years, as procedural shows go, but one thing I think we should have explored more were his quirks. He was introduced as being OCD, and a little off beat, but we trended away from that a bit. I also really wanted to have had the chance to explore his family life. We literally know nothing about him, except that he has an Uncle Ron ( "Crime Wave" ). But hey. There's always season eight. Ha. (LOVE that he says there's always s8 and he too wants to know more about Ryans family, so it's not just us!)

CSI Files: After several seasons that were mostly episodic, CSI: Miami really delved into several arc-based stories this season--Delko's heritage, Delko and Calleigh's romance, Ryan's friendship with his Gambler's Anonymous sponsor and his son. What was the impetus for that?

Miller: There are a few reasons. First, it being our seventh season, we felt we earned the right to open up the characters some more, and finally break the old CSI mantra, "Never go home with them." Doing so opens up a ton of story possibilities, and re-energizes the show. Secondly, we also feel like it revitalizes the actors. It's hard to play similar "look what I found" evidence scenes over and over again. So delving into their real lives helps them explore different sides of their characters, and the show is so much better for it. Shows need to constantly grow and change in some way, while staying true to the basics that people expect. All the writers are avid television watchers, and we know what brings people back every week is not just their desire to be entertained, but to continue the relationship they have with the characters they love. So giving our characters more personal stories helps that relationship not grow stale.

CSI Files: Ryan crossed the line in a pretty major way when he falsified evidence in a case in "Wolfe in Sheep's Clothing" . Will he end up paying for that down the road?

Miller: As for direct ramifications, we don't get into that by the end of season seven. The main thing we wanted to do was show how the Russian Mob could get to our people and try and divide them. It wasn't about Ryan getting reprimanded for the tenth time. But I do think that Ryan will carry that experience with him for the rest of his days, wondering if he did the right thing. I do feel like he goes with his gut instincts very often, which can get him into trouble.

Here's to Season 8 getting into this character's soul and not just under his skin. Let's give Ryan a story line that actually delves into him, and doesn't involve him getting in trouble or betraying anyone's trust.

Can someone tell me when exactly it was that Ryan lost that innocence he had at first? He got hard, secretive (being H's mole), not fitting in with the team, etc. No wonder CAlleigh holds him at arms length; and his relationship with Eric has always been on the edge from Speed's death, to Ryan's lying to the team. He had OCD in the beginnnig, when did that turn into a gambling habit that forces him off the team for awhile?

He is the most intriguing character because you get the sense that there is so much more to him that isn't being shown. A glimpse of some of his background might help fill in some of the blanks.

My son and I are hoping somebody can help clear up something for us. In the season 4 episode Urban Hellraisers they show Erica and Ryan talk before he goes into the bank. A little later Horatio says to Ryan he got a call from Erica and Ryan assumes it's becuase he wouldn't give her a quote. H says it wasn't about that and then says you know what,don't worry about it, I'll take care of it. Does anybody have any idea at all what that was about? My son and I kept waiting for it to come up again and we only have 3 eps left. Does it ever come up again or was that it?

That would be nice. I mean we know Horatio was an abused child,Calleighs dad is an alcoholic,Eric's family is quite complicated and Natalia had an abusive husband. Like somebody else said, I wouldn't mind knowing a little more about Valera either, like why she would go out with somebody she knew went to prison for abusing a co worker? There's quite a few questions where Ryans concerned that i'm sure the writers could explain possibly with one or two things from his past or family as to why he does the thing he does and why his attitude is the way it is. I know this is a procedural and character development is not high on the agenda but at least give us the same little tidbits on the other 2 characters that have been around for years like they have with the others. I have a much better understanding of why they do the things they do just from what little we've been given. It would be nice to have that with Ryan and even Valera as well. Heck even Frank.

I kind of like Ryans haircut and personally whatever he wears works for me, but integrity and a non multiple personality would be nice.

I really like the hair-cut Ryan has now. He looks really mod with it! I definately would'nt change his personality either, it's what makes Ryan his quirky awsome self! His clothes could go back to the jeans and casual shirt look, though.

Frank does have some backstory; it's just not mentioned on the program inextensive detail. He was married; that ended after 'Bait,' but isreferred tobriefly in 'Sex and Taxes.' I haven't heard any children mentioned, but he was attacted (very briefly) by a lady who had come in for questioning in 'Chip/Tuck.' He does inquire about Yelina when H is framed by Walter Resden in 'Under Suspicion.'

There was the problem with the gambling (seasons 5-6, and mentioned briefly in 7). And Ryan wasn't exactly welcomed with open arms at first, as he came on very soon after Speed's death. Calleigh warmed up to him at first (after he helped show that Kenwall didn't kill anyone). It took a little longer for Ryan to get on with Eric; that improved after Ryan got a nail in the eye. Same with Alexx: not such a good relationship at first; improves with time. Perhaps the writers will do something more with Ryan's backstory in the coming season.

Yes. the main storyline for Eric at that point was his trying to helpMarisol (he hadn't told his teammates that Marisol had cancer). However, that would very nearly cost him his job and his freedom when a dealer rats him out in 'Nailed.' It is Horatio who finds out what had been happening, meeting Marisol and learning of her plight in the process. Stetler is foiled when Horatio points out (in front of the State's Attorney) that his information came from a convicted felon. Case dismissed--but Horatio does warn Eric that it couldn't happen again. Ryan doesn't always hide things. Ionly know of his having done so three times:once in season five (Burned),the two-parterfrom seasons 6-7 (Going Ballistic/Resurrection),and once in season seven (Wolfe in Sheep's Clothing). The first time cost him his job for a bit. In the second, he was working with Horatio and an ATF agent. In the third time, he 'slowed down' an investigation to save the life of his sponsor's son (and he eventually did tell Horatio about it).

I can forgive the character of Ryan,I don't find him anymore annoying than any of the other characters.At times I find some of the others a lot more annoying.He has made some mistakes,some big ones.I do think the writers could do a much better job and wonder why the need to what they do, they obviously want him to look bad.A lot more can be done with the character.

Can you respect people (like me) love Ryan and don't insult him?! I can pull out several faults of others CSI and mistakes they've made, for example Eric, Calleigh and Natalia. So, but Horatio, apparently he's perfect, of course. I don't know when call him rat what you mean. I think you don't know what mean this word. In Spain means stingy, and your country?. If only you get annoyed with the phrases Ryan says with the examples you said, I think you get annoyed with silly things.

I beg to differ-Ryan is a substantial part of the team and the show would not be the same without him. I do like his dress and hair style, it is very chic in today's lifestyle. You are right as far as Ryan is concerned. They do need to develop the character better this year, and hopefully make him a hero to viewers. He doesn't.need any other controversial story lines. The show will always have soapopra contentto keep viewerswatching.

I just looked at this episode,no mention of an aunt. It was on wikipedi that the brother was a race car driver(don't know if it's still there),so never really confirmed.

Thanks for the update on Ryan's family. I must get so involved in the story that I miss the small details like family being mentioned! I do vaguely remember an I-Pod being bought by calleigh. I forgot who it was for,though. But I don't remember an "uncle Ron". Who is he?

For the flashback portion of the premiere episode,Ryan was going to be shown as a chubby teen on a tour with his class. Don't know if that will still be part of the flashback or not.There has already been changes to the story because Rory Cochrane(Speed) will not be appearing.Chubby teen Ryan was originally going to be shown talking to Speed.The information is found at a legitimate and reliable site.

Ryan is going to be played by a different actor for the flashback part of the episode,someone younger.The Ryan in the flashback portion will be 17 .It is the 17 year oldRyan that is heavy,not the present day Ryan.

It's right, You don't know differentiate to actor of the person. Jonathan Togo is a actor (great actor) and you can't insult cause you don't know him. Ryan's role dislike you, and Jonathan plays so good his role, you think he makes the same mistakes that Ryan. Several actors should be jealous of him.

No there is not. I agree, each character has their own little idiosyncracies. That's what makes CSI Miami what it is. You forgot Frank and his "Trippisms" - that's my favorite! 8-)

All of Ryan's actions were supposedly able to be undone if when necessary,but still it was a bit much even if Ryan was apparently ready to give up everything important to him(career,probably freedoom.)

I don't think Eric (and maybe Cal) won't ever really trust Ryan because of the 6.21/7.01 deception. He was just following H's orders. But they were really hurt by it. I really don't know what Ryan could do to earn their trust back, or show likeability to the fans. Some like him, some don't. It is what it is. I agree pickle, first valid well-formed argument by Mo. Nice to see. I will try to resopnd in kind in the future.

M - I agree, Frank is all those things that Ryan is not. If I had to choose my favorite on the show, it would be Frank (yes, I know "hands off" ; loyal, trustworthy, and strong.

Calleigh, Alexx, and Eric have been there since the beginning. Horatio always called Speedle 'Speed.' Those four were the core group, with Calleigh as Horatio's second-in-command. Ryan enters in season 3, Natalia in season 4 (maybe a little earlier). Valera isn't in every episode. The other techs (Jensen, Cooper, and the others) were in as needed.
