I think Lily and Cane will survive this. The storyline is tiresome to watch especially since we often see Lily and Cane behaving out of character in order for Chloe's antics to succeed. Paternity scam dramas are not interesting to watch because most of the manipulations used to perpetuate the fraud are easily exposed in 2008. The s/l is simply ridiculous and predictable and screams 1980's or 1970's. We need some modern drama. I think Chloe needs to be hooked up with her real baby father. Her lies should be exposed as soon as possible and when she finds out that she cannot have Cane or the baby's father, she will choose to abort the baby. I really don't care what happens to her afterward, as long as the storyline ends soon, it is getting more boring by the day.

That was during the Dark Ages, before DNA Testing, when men still felt a bit obligated to marry someone if she became pregnant! Kate, I agree with everything you've said. None of us want to see Trick on our screens and the sooner TIIC (they will remain The Idiots In Charge until they scrap this s/l) realize this the better it will be for the show.

crystalnikki: To me the point is how ridiculous some of the storylines have been lately. We already have Gloria, Phyllis and Victor who can get away with murder with repercussions. Chloe's character is what Phyllis use to be, or still is. Another good example would be Amber. My little brother and I have watched this soap for over 20 years and have always praised the show for maintaining some realism. I for one liked that Lily and Cane were a couple, and a happy comfortable couple the way Victor was with Sabrina. They complemented one another and it was not all about lust, or angst. It was refreshing to see stable, mature, adult relationships that exemplified the kind of HEALTHY relationships that are lacking on television right now. The Chloe/Cane story just perpetuates chaos and we have enough of that going on in other storylines...a little reality and stability would be nice... I think

It is quite telling that the writers had to strip Lily of her strength to give Chloe an edge. The writers shot themselves in the foot with this one. If they wanted to go there, then at least have the intestinal fortitude to let the characters bring everything they have for a battle. MAB &Hogan cowardly and uncreatively scripted a schizophrenic -laced angst storyline . They shamefully, put the characters Lily and Cane in a handicapped position from the beginning. Who wants to see a battle when one of the opponent is stripped of their resources. It would have been more intriguing if Cane and Lily were allowed to use every resource available: legal, Bas testimony,etc, Allow the cat and mouse game to be fully played out. MAB should view Alfred Hitchcock work before she use the description "psychologically intriguing." Cane is worldly, experienced, and was a bounty hunter. He could read people. He had access to the best lawyers. He knew Chloe's drinking habits and that could be a factor to the pregnancy. Yet, stupidly, MAB & Hogan decided to have Cane marry Chloe when she has not completed her first trimester. Cowardly, the writers put the sham of a marriage as Lily's request. They so conveniently made Lily the fall guy. They gagged Cane so he could not protest. MAB & Hogan stripped Cane of his wisdom, leadership, and decisive nature. Like oxen led to slaughter, they butchered all characters in this bloody and embarassing mess. Shame on you Maria! Shame on you Hogan! You two have made Cane a walking contradiction. You don't depict a character as unresourceful, indecisive, and gullible then turn around and try to convey his sharp instinct for business endeavors. Uhm NOT! Uhm NO!

I stopped watching DOOL because the story lines dragged on for years; too many things unreal (ex. Stefano having more lives that a cat); becoming bored to tears. The writers of Y&R insult the intelligence of individuals who are trained professionals: a. Chloe and Phyllis tampering with DNA tests and no one at the hospital realize file were hacked. (b) Gloria tampering with the face cream and the detectives of GC were too stupid to catch her. (c) questions about the paternity of Summer and Lily. No couple is ever happy or stay together. I'm surprized Mike and Lauren are still together. I guess Jack and Sharon are on the skids. Phyllis and Nick are a joke - she's too old for Nick anyway. Phyllis should be charged with statutory rape. Look at the storylines that are in play now: Mike, Eden, Gloria and River; Gloria, Katherine, Jeffrey and Kevin trying to play Katherine; Lily, Cain, Chloe and Billy; Victor, Vikki, Nikki, Nick and the ADA who should spend her time trying to find the killer of Palin. I hope when Victory returns he will destroy her. The storyline of Jack and Adam trying to bring Victor down is tiring. Adam made a fool of himself, let him live with it.I'm only saying there are to many stories with no end in sight. The show is for entertainment but the storylines are bizarre, stupid storylines and an insult to fans' intelligence and professionals intelligence. As one post stated showing that if you're dishonest, deceitful, scheming, devious a person can get what they want, irregardless of whose hurt or destroyed, and live happily ever after. I don't like that Chloe ruined what Lily and Cane had, but Lily did give him to her. I'm not going to give up on someone that I'm truly in love with to someone like Chloe. I don't think I'd be able to forgive and forget the way they have - but there is something admirable about it to me. I think your right that cane should have done more - but we all make mistakes... he believes that he was taken advantage of and that he is the babies dad - it's extremely strange that he would marry chloe and then warm up to the idea of them having a family... but like I said he's overly idealistic and forgiving...I agree he should have tried to proove in court that chloe was unfit and that she took advantage of him and that he rather than her should be the legal parent...if in fact the baby is his - but he didn't.Also I like it that we knew before the characters did - It reminds me a little bit of the old Greek plays where the audience already knew the whole storyline.I can't wait for it to come out that billy's the daddy - after lily and billy are more serious and cane and chloe start to warm on each other... then BAM! But what I would really really really like to see is chloe start to have some self respect. It would shock everyone if she did a self inventory and came out and told the truth about her lying - that she knows billy, that cane isn't the father - that she set him up and they never had sex, that billy probably is the father and they definitely had sex. Then after telling cane and lily all that she apologizes and asks for forgiveness and makes plans to be a healthy happy single mom. I don't know what would motivate her to do that though - she's obviously in complete denial of her rottenness.

I feel exactly the same about Cane. He is a stupid weasel. I understand y some people might like chloe. She sort of reminds me of a Devil wears Prada girl. She doesn't look at all like creepy Esther. I know Esther is a sweet little maid. But, the woman doesn't have the brains god gave a piss ant. I don't think Cane and Lilly are all that bright. I liked Lilly alot better when she was with Daniel. I've listed all the 'Reasons I don't approve of Cane for Lily' on the old board and as much as it distresses me to rewrite the same paper once I have handed it in....here goes....Cane is a weasel because if he truly loved and cherished Lily, he would have loved her forthright from the beginning and protected her integrity. It's for that I love the Lily's character she looks like very much flesh and blood ... because she just lives and goes to her senses that's it ... it makes me laugh than a lot of people want her just to feel lonely and not get her life I don't see anybody in soap that's stay alone more than two days, the girl has been single for months and even there when she takes the chance of a new relationship people think she goes to the wrong way , that sound crazy ... anyway it's a kind of seeing the storyline ... I saw more Chloe has phyllis bis, the one who would get the redemption road, that will make all the bad things she's done good soon for some reason ... she didn't touch my soft spot yet ... but I have the feeling than the writers try to push her more in the storyline as the main element , that sound that the writer will always put the winter as second best what i think a kind of boring, and déjà vu.

ITDA! He didn't leave his wife, because it was the right thing to do, but they also commented on the fact that she was the LOVE of his life. I actually commented about this in another thread. The writer where trying to say that no matter that they where apart you knew that they were still in love with each other. He may have not left his wife, but S&H had an open affair for years. One thing not like Lilly and Cane (as far as I know) is that his wife didn't lie and tell him that she was having his child when she knew damn well that it was his brother's.

There is a novel idea. Get them away from each other for a while. Go silent on their arses(Chilly). Let them wonder what is going to happen next. Chloe knows she has done something dispicable and she also knows what goes around comes around she just won't know when. Them after a little while drop the boom on them.There is no way they should not feel some pain. They should not just live happily ever after.

I HEAR WHAT YOU ARE SAYING ANDI HAVE ANALYZED THE SITUATION IS ITS ENTIRETY AND I STILL CAN NOT AGREE WITH CANE'S DECISION TO FIGHT FOR CUSTODY FOR THAT BABY. CHLOE AND BILLY ARE NOT FIT BUT THEY ARE THE PARENTS AND THAT IS UP TO THE COURTS.

It's already been believably explained. Chloe just wanted what was gonna be best for her baby. And she wanted her baby to have a daddy and a family that she never had. She knew Cane wanted a baby and had lost a baby so he was an easy target and he was related. She didn't start trying to steal CANE away until she was **** and she was desperate. She knew Billy wouldn't settle down and was scared of the way he might react....Plus, I don't think he was living in GC when she found out she was preggers. She wanted a nuclear family. She loves the baby. Family courts don't take away babies from mom's who love and care for a child just b/c they married another man. She wasn't after MONEY like some try to say.
