NUMBER ONE
Stepping onto the mat in first place, the very ecstatic Charla & Mirna received the good news from Phil that they had won a trip for two from Travelocity to Aruba. On their first victory in either season on the race, Mirna stated, "Just because someone's a little shorter or a little skinnier doesn't really matter. We work hard and we're a damn good Team and if coming in first lets people have a little more respect for us then that's a wonderful thing to accomplish."
With beauty queens Dustin & Kandice and married parents Teri & Ian wisely painting nails to claim second and third place respectively, the remaining four Teams struggled at the very large piles of coal to fill the ten required bags and sew them shut. Oswald & Danny beat the Guidos sewing the bags, joking, "We're younger. We're faster. We'll always beat them." The pair didn't live up to their promise however when Joe & Bill narrowly edged out the best friends in delivering one of the bags to the specified address.
As the Guidos and Joe & Bill returned to the cars, married couple Uchenna & Joyce and dating couple Eric & Danielle battled for last place. Uchenna & Joyce had a miniscule lead on Eric & Danielle by sewing the ten bags first, but they lost it when they couldn't locate the house to deliver their bag of coal. Employing the services of some local children, Eric & Danielle successfully delivered their bag first, but Uchenna & Joyce remained hot on their heels by finding their house moments later.
RACE TO THE MAT
After Oswald & Danny claimed fourth place, life partners Joe & Bill ran into some trouble when the taxi driver they hired to lead them to the Pit Stop had difficulties finding the fort. This allowed dating couple Eric & Danielle to show up at the entrance to the fort at the exact same as the Guidos resulting in a spirited footrace won by Joe & Bill. Joe commented, "Eric & Danielle are kind of like competing in a footrace with Olympic athletes but we outran them." A disappointed Eric remarked, "I think we should've beat them. The Guidos remind me of old women who are past their prime. She got beat by a bunch of queens."
Stepping onto the mat in last place, a thrilled Uchenna & Joyce received the very good news that this was the first non-elimination leg of the race. While the threat of elimination now hung over their heads with a 30-minute penalty assessed if they don't win the next leg, they still counted their blessings to still be running the race. Uchenna said, "I don't like being in this position. We need to rock and roll. We just have to keep our intention right and stay forward." Joyce added, "Given the competitive people here thirty minutes could be pretty disastrous so we're gonna work like hell the next leg to come in first. We certainly can make miracles happen. We did on the last race." |
