At 3:58 am, a confident Chris & Alex were the third and final Team to leave the Pit Stop. Chris noted, "We're just gonna go about our business, and once we get out in front, we're gonna stay there and take this whole thing by storm."
As Chris & Alex made their way toward the monument to Sir John Logan Campbell, Tara & Wil arrived at the Auckland International Airport. Unfortunately for the separated couple, they soon learned that all the airline counters were closed for the night. Tara decided to try to arrange for a flight over a pay phone. "I'm trusting you with my life here," she told a ticket agent as she booked a plane ride to Hawaii.
Blake & Paige were the second Team to make it to the monument. They ripped open the clue and were thrilled to learn they were headed to Maui. "Awesome, I've never been to Hawaii," shouted Paige. "Hawaii here we come," Blake added. Heading to the airport in their taxi, Blake & Paige gained confidence as they looked forward to the end of all language barrier problems back in the United States. Chris & Alex arrived third at the monument and picked up the clue envelope. "Back to the States," they noted, confident they could catch their competitors at the airport.
 Their assessment turned out to be accurate, as all three Teams ended up booking the same flight to Maui. To get there, the Teams would first fly to Sydney, then to Honolulu before making their final connection to Maui. During the long flight, Blake and Wil, staying true to the competitive spirit of the race, used the time to study up on Hawaii. Meanwhile, Chris & Alex and Wil's teammate Tara did their best to try to use the downtime to relax and have fun.
Back to the U.S.
The flight landed in Maui at night. "I don't know if Maui is ready for us," joked Blake as he and Paige worked their way out of the airport terminal. Chris noted, "It's good to be back on U.S. soil." While Blake & Paige searched for taxis, Tara & Wil found one and took off.
The Teams' first challenge was to locate a nearby sugar field and find a clue box hidden somewhere amongst the ruins of an old sugar mill. Tara & Wil's driver didn't know the location of the old sugar mill ruins and had to stop and ask. Chris & Alex also got into a taxi and headed off. From their taxis, both Teams studied their maps in search of the mill. Blake & Paige were the last to make it out of the airport.
