- Eligibility: Open to legal residents of the 48 contiguous United States or the District of Columbia at least eighteen (18) years of age (or age of majority if greater than 18) or older, at the time of registration and are registered users (i.e. successfully obtain user ID and password) ("Registered Users") on any one or more of the following Web sites: CBS.com, CBSnews.com, CBS SportsLine.com, upn.com, NFL.com, SuperBowl.com and/or pgatour.com. Not eligible to enter are employees or agents of CBS Digital Media, a Division of CBS Broadcasting Inc. ("Sponsor"), BP America Inc., and their parent companies, subsidiaries, divisions, affiliates, advertising and promotion agencies, (collectively, the "Sweepstakes Entities") and members of their immediate families (spouse, parent, child, sibling and their respective spouses) and those living in their households.
- To Register for Game Play: You must register to play the Amazing Race 8 Fantasy League Game ("Game".) If you are not a Registered User, you may register for CBS.com by going to http://cbs.com/sponsors/bp and completing the cbs.com registration form by providing the information required. To obtain a user identification ("ID") and associated password ("Password"), you will be asked to click on the link to "sign up free" button and fill out the registration form. There is no fee to become a CBS.com Registered User. The "Registration Period" begins on or about 1:00 AM Eastern Time ("ET") on 10/5/05 and ends at 8:00 PM ET on 10/18/05. Game begins at the start of Episode 4 of Amazing Race 8 currently scheduled for 9:00 PM ET on 10/18/05 and ends at approximately 10:00 PM ET on 12/13/05 or with the conclusion of the East Coast broadcast of the final episode of Amazing Race 8 whichever occurs first ("Promotion Period"). Promotion Period end date is subject to scheduling changes in which case it will be posted on the Game Website. To register for the Game, visit the CBS.com Web site anytime during the Registration Period, click on the Amazing Race 8 Fantasy League Game icon, and complete the online registration form. You will be required to pick any one (1) team from the available Amazing Race 8 teams as part of the Game registration process. A "team" is defined as a group of four family members. Once you have completed the information requested, click on "submit" to submit your registration and team selection. Each Registrant must complete entire online registration form and successfully submit his/her team pick in order to be eligible to play the Game. NO GAME REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ALLOWED AFTER 8:59:59 PM ET ON 10/18/05. The broadcasts are subject to preemptions and scheduling changes. If such changes occur they will be posted on the Amazing Race 8 Website. The use of automated or third party software or Website to register or select a team is prohibited. LIMIT ONE GAME REGISTRATION PER REGISTERED USER. Releasees (as defined below) assume no responsibility for incorrect or inaccurate registration information, human error or technical malfunctions, lost/delayed data transmission, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, line failures unauthorized access of any computer equipment or software, or any combination thereof. Registrations become the property of the Sponsor. Participants who submit inaccurate registration data and/or exceed the registration limits may be excluded from participation at any time during or after the Game. By registering, Game registrants agree to be bound by these rules & consent to use by Sponsor and its designees of their names &/or photographs for advertising or publicity purposes in any and all media now or hereafter known throughout the world in perpetuity, without further consideration, notification or permission, except where prohibited by law.
- Game Play: The Game begins at the start of Episode 4 of Amazing Race 8 currently scheduled for 9 PM ET on 10/18/05. Following successful registration, a player ("Player") will have one (1) team associated with his/her entry per week. Episode 4 of Amazing Race 8 will be the first episode used to determine whether or not a Player remains in the Game. For example, if a Player selects a family that loses in any given week and is eliminated, all Players who had selected that family will be disqualified from this Game and such Player will no longer be in contention for the prize drawing. During "Team Freeze" a Player may not change his/her team selection. A "Team Freeze" is in effect from the beginning of the East Coast broadcast of a new Episode of Amazing Race 8 until 4 hours after the end of the broadcast of that Episode on the nights a new Episode of Amazing Race 8 is broadcast. If the team selected by a Player is not eliminated and the Player wants to change his/her selection, Player will be required to change his/her team selection anytime after the end of the Team Freeze on the night of the broadcast of a new episode up until the start of the next new episode on or about 9:00 PM ET of the day the episode airs. A Player may use an active team a MAXIMUM OF FOUR TIMES during the Promotion Period. Each new episode starting with episode 4 will count as a one-time use of an active team for the purposes of counting the number of times an active team can be used. Use of an active team a fifth time will result in the Player's disqualification. Players must monitor their team selection and strategically select teams to avoid being disqualified. The Game will not be conducted on nights when a new episode of Amazing Race 8 is not broadcast. All decisions regarding whether or not a player remains in the Game will be made by a CBS.com representative whose decisions are final on matters relating to the Game.
- Determining Winner: All Players still in the Game following the finale will be placed into a random drawing to be held on or about 12/27/05 to determine the grand prize winner. Drawing conducted by Marden-Kane Inc., an independent judging organization whose decisions are final on matters relating to this Game. Sponsor will attempt to notify potential grand prize winner by one or more of the following methods: email, phone or mail. Potential winner will be required to sign, have notarized & return to Marden-Kane an affidavit of eligibility/release of liability within 10 days of issuance of notification. Failure to complete and return the documents in the time noted will result in the disqualification of the potential grand prize winner and an alternate winner will be selected and notified. Guest of Grand Prize winner (or if minor, his/her parent/legal guardian) must sign and return publicity release (unless prohibited) and a liability release prior to issuance of travel documents. Minor guest must be accompanied by his/her parent or legal guardian. Odds of winning depend upon number of eligible entries received.
- Prize: One (1) Grand Prize: A Pacific Northwest Adventure Tree House Resort Vacation. Prize includes: round trip coach airfare for winner and guest to and from a major U.S. gateway within the 48 contiguous states to destination; 4 nights Suite accommodations at the Treesort in Takilma Oregon; daily breakfast; tree climbing and rappelling class; winner's choice of whitewater rafting (8 year old minimum) or horseback riding (6 year old minimum); rental car for duration of stay (driver must be 21+ and other restrictions apply) Approximate Retail Value: $5,000. Trip must be taken within 1-year from date of prize notification. Prize does not include any transportation to or from a qualifying departure airport. Complete terms and conditions of Grand Prize trip will be furnished with prize notification. Travel arrangements must be made through Sponsor's agent on a carrier of Sponsor's choice. Winner and guest must travel on the same itinerary and provide travel documents suitable for travel. All other expenses relating to acceptance of Grand Prize not explicitly stated herein, including but not limited to taxes, meals, beverages of any kind and gratuities are responsibility of Grand Prize winner and guest. Travel subject to availability and confirmation of reservations a minimum of 60 days prior to departure. Certain travel restrictions may apply. Prize is non-transferable; no substitutions or cash equivalents allowed, except at the discretion of the Sponsor. All details of prize not specified herein shall be determined solely by Sponsor. If prize is unavailable, a prize of equal or greater value will be awarded. Taxes are the responsibility of the winner. Each Player agrees to release, discharge, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor, its parent company, and their affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, including Marden-Kane, Inc., and all of their respective employees, directors, officers, shareholders & agents (collectively, "Releasees") from any & all claims or liability in connection with participation in this promotion or acceptance or use of any prize.
- Internet: If for any reason this Game is not capable of running as planned due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Game, the Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Game. In the event of such cancellation, termination or suspension, Sponsor shall post notice thereof at game website. Should the Game be terminated, Sponsor reserves the right to select winner in a random drawing from among all eligible, non-suspect Players participating in the Game as of the action requiring such termination. Releasees are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer on-line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Sponsor on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in this game or downloading any materials in this game. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE GAME IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, THE SPONSOR RESERVES THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES OR OTHER REMEDIES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON (S) RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ATTEMPT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a winner based on an e-mail address, the winning entry will be declared made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at time of registration. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
- Name of Winner: To obtain the name of the grand prize winner, available after 1/1/06, mail a SASE to: Marden-Kane, 36 Maple Place, Manhasset, NY 11030 Attn: CBS Amazing Race 8/Season. Requests received after 2/28/06 will not be honored.
