BUILDING AN ALLIANCE After the first three groups leave their nests and go inside, Josh lays the groundwork for the first House alliance. He tells the other five that if they stick together, they can control the game. He suggests Marcellas as the first evictee. The rest of the group agrees, noting the "negative energy" Josh claims Marcellas brought to the House. In the nest, Danielle worries about their food spoiling and leaves, taking her partner Marcellas with her. Marcellas protests, saying he's only leaving for the good of the rest of the House. Inside, Josh approaches him in a friendly manner, but Marcellas claims to see through the gesture, saying, "I gave him as little info as possible. I want people to underestimate me." Meanwhile, Roddy stands up in his nest, disqualifying himself and Tonya, in retail sales from Las Vegas, Nevada; the winners of the weekly cash prize are Jason and Lori. Jason recognizes the gift and the curse this represents. "This puts a bullseye on us," he says. HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD As the HouseGuests wake from slumbers to their first full day in the House, some roles are already taking shape. Danielle and Gerry are being pegged as the Mom and Dad in the House, with Danielle cooking breakfast for everybody who wants it. Actually, she says, she was cooking some for herself and didn't want to be rude and not offer some to the others. Jason reveals his "get up quick" strategy to make sure he gets enough hot water in his shower, while Josh tells everyone he chose to sleep on the floor rather than in his uncomfortable cot. The power structure in the House begins to take hold with the first Head of Household Competition. Each week, this competition will determine which HouseGuest earns the coveted Head of Household position, which earns them their own room, and the responsibility of nominating two of their fellow HouseGuests for possible eviction by the rest of the House. Posing a series of questions ("Which HouseGuest is most likely to pose nude?"; "Which HouseGuest is most likely to donate their winnings to charity?") a HouseGuest gets the opportunity to pick two people in each round. They spin a wheel containing all the HouseGuests' names to determine who will then eliminate from competition one of the pair whom they do not want to see eligible for this week's HoH. The two finalists are Lisa and Lori for the first HoH title. Taking a full vote of all the other HouseGuests, Lisa wins in a vote of 8 to 2, and becomes the HoH, gaining access to the locked, stocked private bedroom. She enjoys the privacy, the large bed and the CD player she now has, but will she enjoy having to nominate two of her fellow HouseGuests for the first eviction? And who will her choices be?
