HOWIE CONQUERS WITH COCONUTS
The first Food competition of the summer teams up the HouseGuests on two Malibu surfboards in a pool next to some coconut-laden palm trees. The array of itsy-bitsy-teeny-weeny bikinis makes for a happy Howie, who proclaims, "The BIG BROTHER selection of ladies this year took a big step up!" Julie Chen explains the rules of the competition to the two teams of seven. This is a two-part competition: first, both teams compete for groceries for the week; next, winners of the food compete individually for the first Head of Household slot.

The Orange and Blue teams dive into the competition. The object of part one is to shoot the most coconuts into the Big Kahuna mouth from their surfboards. Howie and Kaysar take prime positions at the front of their surfboards, and the battle of the coconuts begins. The "force" appears to be with Howie as he leads the Orange team to a 23/7 butt-whooping of the Blue team. This guy certainly knows how to handle his coconuts: "Hey, those coconuts were piling up for one reason: me!"

Tails firmly between their legs, the vanquished housemates retreat into the house to commiserate over peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. To the Orange team, Julie explains the rules of the HoH competition. The last housemate remaining on the surfboard wins the Head of Household title. Attempts at an alliance are agreed to between the teammates, yet one by one, in Darwinian fashion, the weak fall by the wayside, leaving Rachel and Howie in a head-to-head battle. The call of nature overrides Howie's determination as he leaps into the water, leaving Rachel to win Head of Household.
