BIRDS OF A FEATHER ENDURE TOGETHER
We return to the backyard, where the HouseGuests are still clinging to their keys in the first round of the three-part HoH Competition, "The Key to Being Safe." The competition becomes more difficult as the dial beneath the girls begins to turn at varying speeds. Maggie is moved to sigh, "You guys, it's an honor to be standing out here with you." Compliments aside, the tensions are high as the housemates realize what is at stake: a shot at the half-million dollar Grand Prize! Ivette spends some time reflecting on evicting April earlier that evening. Janelle smiles wistfully, remembering the pleasure of crushing "the Nerd Herders' dreams to shreds," by splintering the Friendship with jealousy and suspicions the week prior.
As the hours drag on, Janelle is the first to tire, but her competitors rally her spirits. "C'mon Janelle, you can do it Janelle," Ivette encourages. "America thinks I am evil, but I've got good in me," she sighs. Janelle can't hold on, though, and finally falls off the dial exhausted and cold. Maggie holds on, telling Ivette, "I love you." Ivette starts reassuring Maggie that she is going to the final round, whether it is Janelle or herself who wins this HoH Competition. Maggie is disturbed at the conversation, and thinking about the finals, she loses "concentration" and "trips" off the dial. Ivette is left the disbelieving winner of the first stage of the competition and the recipient of the combination to the last safe. Opening the safe, she is told her prize is waiting in the backyard. Screaming and jumping with excitement, the HouseGuests find two shiny new Vespa Scooters waiting for Ivette. "How cute are we gonna look?" Ivette squeals as she imagines herself and girlfriend Tushy zipping through the streets of South Beach.
