Academy Award winner Olympia Dukakis began her theatrical career in summer stock after taking adult education acting classes at Boston University.
Her television credits include the CBS mini-series "Guilty Hearts," "And Never Let Her Go," "Joan of Arc," for which she was nominated for an Emmy Award, "Sinatra," for which she earned a Golden Globe Award nomination, as well as "More Tales of the City" and the television movie "Lucky Day," both of which earned her Emmy Award nominations.
Her other television movie credits include "Mafia Doctor," "Scattering Dad," "A Match Made in Heaven," "Young at Heart" and "Fire in the Dark," all on CBS, "Strange Relations," "The Last of the Blonde Bombshells" and "The Pentagon Wars."
Dukakis' series credits include "Touched by an Angel," on CBS, "The Simpsons" and "Frasier." CENTER OF THE UNIVERSE is her first regular series role.
Her feature film credits include "Moonstruck," for which she received both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress, "Steel Magnolias," "Look Who's Talking," "Look Who's Talking Too," "Look Who's Talking Now," "Naked Gun 33 1/3," "I Love Trouble," "Mighty Aphrodite," "Mr. Holland's Opus" and "Mafia!"
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Dukakis lives in New York with her husband. Her birth date is June 20.
