How to catch his eye this season

Dressing up for the holidays! What fun! And if you're in the market for a special someone, it's a perfect opportunity to catch his eye with your festive plumage.

Remember that tactile is sexy.
Touchable clothes make you more, well… touchable. Cool weather and festive occasions are great excuses for outrageously rich fabrics like velvet or chenille.

Think of other ways to add alluring texture, like leaving your hair down and substituting leave-in conditioner for hair spray. And whether your winter coat is a survivalist parka or double-breasted gray wool, try softening it up by framing your face with a luxurious hat and scarf in an irresistible texture like angora wool.

Think cuddly, but beware the sweater so bulky that it looks like you're drowning in it. Even the most enlightened guy would like to know a little more about what you look like under there.

Less is more.
Good news! Women who look too perfectly "done" are less approachable. This gives you a good reason (as if you needed one) to not spend all afternoon getting ready. Instead of fussing over every detail, pick a couple of focal points.

Maybe you're wearing something that sets off your great legs or smooth shoulders, or your hair and makeup both point out your striking dark eyes. Pick a few features that make you feel like a goddess, give them their spotlight and just make sure everything else is reasonably well groomed.

Don't be afraid of color.
We all love the little black dress, but hasn't anyone ever told you to wear red if you're going to make a speech? It's because bright colors attract attention. Add some celebration to your wardrobe and catch his eye with something bright colored or iridescent.

This is probably the easiest time of year to "get away with" a tasteful dash of brilliance, and you'll definitely stand out in a crowd. The same richly glowing top might go with jeans for a casual first date and with a dramatic black skirt for a more formal holiday party.

Go easy on the holiday wearables.
Add some spirit, but look out. There are some festive elements best saved for sitting on the couch on Christmas morning drinking hot cocoa with Grandma. They include: Sweatshirts with Santa on them - particularly if he's been rendered in puffy paint - socks with cartoon reindeer, sweaters with puffballs and ribbons attached to them, and stuffed antlers on headbands.

If you feel the need to be seasonal, try a simple pair of hook earrings with jingling bells or snowflakes. Not only are they classy, they draw attention to the ears and neck - a subtle sensual signal.

Above all, dress to suit your personality. If you're trying to meet someone who's fascinated by who you are, you're not going to get far by pretending to be someone else. If you feel a little holiday sparkle, add it to your outfit, then get out there! There's nothing more attractive than a woman who's comfortable with herself, confident, and having a great time celebrating all the season has to offer.
