$#*! My Dad Says

Thursdays 8:30/7:30c

Behind the Scenes with Co-Creators Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker

Things are getting a little hot on $#*! My Dad Says! This Thursday, Tila Tequila guest stars as Ting-Ting, the trophy wife of one of Ed's neighbors. William Shatner, you have all the luck.

It's an all-new $#*! My Dad Says, Thursday, Jan. 27 8:30/7:30c on CBS!

This is the $#*! My Dad Says Writers “B” Room. This week, we were entertaining the idea of having William Shatner wrestle a bear. Not in the script, mind you. We just wanted to see it. So it happened. In this room. Mr. Shatner is in the back of the squad car (see: out the window). The bear is dead.

Back to work! The Thanksgiving break has been over for a few days, and this morning, we have our table read for Episode #113, tentatively titled "The Better Father." We can't tell you much about the script, other than it has to do with Bonnie's dad coming to town. But we can give you this hint: It's written by Jeff Astrof, which generally means the script title always has more than one meaning. It also means there was no limit set on the amount of times Ed uses the word "hooker." (This is always a good thing in our book.)

Above is a shot of Ed Goodson (William Shatner) doing an eerily TJ Hooker-like hood slide over Ed's old school Chevy Impala, from "$#*! My Dad Says" Episode 112: "Goodson Goes Deep."

We're pretty convinced now that the laws of gravity do not apply to Mr. Shatner. In fact, we have a sinking suspicion the Universe and Mr. Shatner have a Looney Tunes-style agreement in that, if he were to walk off the edge of a cliff, he would not fall unless he looked down.

Friend of the show, Brad Lamers, who designed the background for the original $#*! My Dad Says Twitter page, designed this little guy for people to post around town. Interesting fact about Brad — he’s been mistaken for Justin in the original $#*! My Dad Says photo that wound up all over the place when the show happened.

This is Building 193 on a sleepy fake suburban street (a.k.a. Warner Village) on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California. This is where the “$#*! My Dad Says” writers spend most of their working hours. Sometimes we yell out the window at the Warner Bros. tour groups for sport. Come by Warner Bros. studios and arrange a tour. You, too, could become the butt of a joke spontaneously yelled by a real TV writer!

Welcome to the "$#*! My Dad Says" behind-the-scenes blog, run by Justin Halpern & Patrick Schumacker, two of the show's co-creators. We're insanely lucky bastards. We've been writing together since 2002, but, only 14 months ago, we were writing and shooting original content for the web, hoping to catch a break… and here we are, in the thick of things, producing and writing on our own TV show with Executive Producers Max Mutchnick & David Kohan, and William freaking Shatner.

It's a process that never ceases to fascinate us, and we're using this blog to share as much as possible with fans, haters and curious parties. From time to time, we'll post updates about the show — videos, photos, thoughts, the occasional rumor and other $#*! — that'll hopefully give you guys a little better idea of what happens on a big network TV sitcom.
