The Black Crew starts to catch up when the Red Crew finds the key under the third step. As the Red Crew heads back up the steps with key in hand, the Black Crew tries to solve their own specific equation. The Red Crew reads their next clue and learns that one Pirate from each crew must wear the shackles to measure 300 paces to a clearing where the treasure is buried. Jay puts the shackles on his ankles and proceeds to walk 300 paces, which proves to be difficult. Back on the staircase, the Black Crew finds their key and heads uphill. Once there, Louie puts the shackles on his ankles and proceeds to walk the 300 paces to treasure.
A Significant Victory
Once Jay finishes 300 paces, the crew frantically digs in the surrounding area, looking for treasure. The Black Crew catches up again and starts digging as well, but Jay unearths the treasure, securing a victory for the Red Crew. As they all cheer, the Black Crew looks on dejectedly. "I don't like losing," Louie says. "But I've been trying to get Azmyth out of that Captain blue coat for a long time and today it's done."
With a New Captain Comes New Twists
When the Pirates return to the ship, Cameron relieves Azmyth of his command and the Red Crew counts their $50,000 treasure. When it's time to pick a new Captain, everyone nominates Christa. "I didn't want to be Captain because I don't want to be out there to make those decisions," Christa confesses. "Every single person who's been there has also gotten a Black Spot. Why would I want that?" After Christa accepts the position, Cameron tells her that because she doesn't have Officers, she alone decides who gets the Black Spot.
Christa also learns that from here forward, the Captain can only mark two Pirates instead of three. Cameron then surprises everyone when he announces the biggest change of all: the entire $50,000 treasure belongs solely to Christa. "$50,000 is definitely enough to change my life," she explains. "I'm really confused right now because I want the money, obviously for [my daughter], but I know if I keep it, it's gonna make everybody mad and I could potentially go home." Cameron then tells everyone they can still bid on the Royal Pardon, but after the next Pirates' Court, it is no longer valid.
