A Shocking Black Spot Ceremony
Up on deck, Christa addresses the crew. "If you got a Black Spot, it's either because you're a liar or because I want you to stay and I just think it's an easy spot to be in right now," she says, before dropping the letters in front of the crew. Jay is shocked when Ben and Laurel each receive a Black Spot while his letter remains unmarked.
Still feeling betrayed, Ben approaches Jay and tells him he can redeem himself by not voting for him. "I appealed to his genuine side and I let him know if there was anything real about the time we've been together on the ship, then now is the time that I need him to stand up for me," Ben explains.
Ben tells Jay he'll owe him everything if he saves him tonight and Jay considers his proposition. "Right now, I know that Louie and Laurel don't have my back, so it might be a better gamble to keep him here," he says. "I'm still not sure yet though."
Pirates' Court - Christa Has Her Say
At Pirates' Court, Christa explains that she marked Laurel because she never discusses strategy, which makes her hard to read and she marked Ben instead of Jay after Laurel confirmed that he admitted he didn't want to compete against Christa in the end. Christa equates Ben's sentiment as a desire to see her cut adrift and sees it as cowardly.
"I want to go in the end against the best competitors on the ship, not the weakest," Christa proclaims. "I would rather be the second best to the best instead of best of the worst."
Laurel steps forward to defend herself, explaining that she never makes different promises to different people, before saying, "I don't put myself out there because I don't want the stress. I'm not hiding anything when I don't come to you guys with anything because I don't care. Personally, I'm here to play my way." Louie then comes to Laurel's defense, describing her as a free spirit with whom he has formed a bond.
