A Proposition for Ben
The next morning, the final four eat breakfast together as Christa explains the day's chores. Jay then pulls Ben aside and explains how important it is that Christa wins today's Expedition before asking Ben to sabotage the Expedition if he's placed on the Red Crew. As Ben ponders this proposition, he points out, "No matter how I'm playing the game, I owe my stay here to Jay and Christa." When Ben returns to the galley, Christa also asks him to throw the Expedition, promising to split the treasure with him in return.
The Carpenter's Treasure
The four Pirates meet with Cameron on the quarterdeck as Louie worries about his fate. "There's four Pirates on the ship and three of them want to keep Christa in power," he explains. "I'm feeling like I'm a little bit of the outside man." Cameron reveals that the next treasure was hidden by the ship's carpenter, a ruthless man who would personally build the gallows from which he would hang rival Pirate crews. Christa joins the Black Crew while the remaining three draw shot. Ben and Louie each draw a red shot, placing them on the Red Crew while Jay joins Christa on the Black Crew. "The fact that I got stuck on the opposite crew as Christa, I knew that for me to prove myself and to stay on the ship, I had to sabotage this Expedition," Ben explains. "And it made me sick to my stomach."
Sabotaging the Red Crew
On the Expedition, both crews must row to shore and make their way to Dead Man's Pool where they will dive to retrieve a set of tools and their next clue. As both longboats head out, Ben starts to purposefully row slowly, prompting Louie to take over rowing duties. Once Louie takes the oars, the Red Crew quickly catches up to the Black Crew as they reach the shore.
