One Pirate Will Have All the Power
As the Black Crew returns to the ship, Christa doesn't feel fulfilled about their win, knowing that Louie was sabotaged. When Jay and Christa count their treasure, which amounts to $40,000, Louie is crushed when he realizes how much money he could have won. "I'm a man who doesn't need a lot and doesn't make a lot," he points out. "$20,000 goes a long way in my life." Cameron tells Christa that she has to mark two Pirates with the Black Spot, which leaves one Pirate with all the power when it comes time to cast the ballot. Christa realizes she must choose that one Pirate carefully because they could also cast a ballot for Mutiny.
As everyone heads below deck, Ben notices that Louie is still hurting from the loss of the Expedition. "I feel like I let him down because I went half-assed during the Expedition to save my own ass," Ben says. "The competitive nature in me says to do whatever you have to do to win…But the human side of me says this man has family, this man has hopes and dreams. I'm ashamed of what I did today."
Striking Deals in the Captain's Cabin
In the Captain's Cabin, Jay and Christa also feel bad for Louie and agree to give him $5,000 from the treasure. They also give Ben $12,000 as an essential payoff for throwing the Expedition and because of their pact with him. When Jay and Christa give Louie the money, he is sincerely touched by their seemingly generous offer. "I don't think Louie suspected anything because he's so sincere of a person that he would just not think anybody would do that," Christa says.
After Louie leaves, Christa steers the conversation to the upcoming Pirates' Court and asks Jay who he would cast the ballot for if he was given sole voting power. Jay reassures Christa that she can trust him and also appeals to Christa's sensitive side when he brings up the fact that they are the only two Pirates who have children to think about. Christa seems confident that neither Jay nor Louie would Mutiny against her if they were placed in that position and Jay reiterates that he and Christa are partners in crime.
