Adam Growe & Jeff Garcia
Leading off in the Comedy category was Adam Growe, who joked about his family. "I enjoyed you," remarked Carol Leifer, but added, "I wasn't knocked out," and gave Adam 3 stars. Adam got the same score from Jack Osbourne, who explained, "It was funny, but I wasn't on the floor holding my stomach." Naomi Judd gave him 2 stars, advising, "Families are funny, and as your kids get older, you're going to have more material." Ben Stein said that he liked the joke Adam had attributed to his 4-year-old son, "but after that, you sort of lost me," and gave him 2 points.
Second up was Jeff Garcia, who joked about his Latin heritage and about other ethnic groups. Carol Leifer gave him 4 stars, saying, "Really funny jokes; great, relaxed presence. Excellent." "You were hysterical," Jack Osbourne said as he gave Adam 5 stars, "I like how you covered everything, so no one got offended." "You humored me," said Naomi Judd, and gave Adam 3 stars. Ben Stein gave him 5 stars, saying, "Race jokes are incredibly hard to pull off right; you pulled them off beautifully. You are incredibly funny!"
As the judging ended, Jeff was ahead of Adam 17-10. The home audience upheld the judges' decision, bringing Jeff Garcia's total up to 35 stars and sending him to next Thursday's Semifinals. |
