Tyrone Barnett, Jeff Garcia & Loni Love
The first Comedian tonight was Ty Barnett, who joked about race. "I didn't think your jokes were as strong this week, but I still gave you 4 stars because I really like you," commented Carol Leifer. Tyrese gave Ty 3 stars, explaining, "I should have been on the floor." "Three stars: you're a good humor man," Naomi Judd told Ty. Ben Stein finished the judging with this comment: "Three stars: you'll be a star, but not quite yet."
Second up was Jeff Garcia, who also joked about race. Carol Leifer gave Jeff 4 stars, commenting, "funny guy, great personality." Tyrese gave him 3 stars, and Naomi Judd gave him 4, calling herself "a sucker for socioeconomic ethnic humor." Explaining that he "wanted to laugh a lot harder," Ben Stein gave Jeff 3 stars.
The third Comedian was Loni Love, who joked about office work and Michael Jackson. "You're phenomenal!" raved Carol Leifer, giving Loni 5 stars. Tyrese agreed, also giving her 5 stars. Naomi Judd told Loni, "Three words: at-ti-tude. That gives you 5 stars." Ben Stein was equally enthusiastic about Loni, commenting, "She could read the phone book and it would be 5 stars!"
The judges favored Loni, with a perfect score of 20, and the home audience upheld their decision. When home scoring was tallied, Loni Love won the category with 37 stars and will return for the Finals on Thursday, February 6.
