 Karen Flores & Kailey Ervin
The first Junior Singer onstage tonight was Karen Flores, who sang "Run to You." An impressed Naomi Judd raved, "You're a little crackerjack. You're a powerhouse!" and gave Karen 4 stars. "If this girl is not perfect, then the word 'perfect' has no meaning," put in Ben Stein, giving Karen 5 stars. Carol Leifer also gave Karen 5 stars, remarking, "I cannot believe you're 13! You sing with so much emotion." "That's a little woman! I love the heels, the outfit, everything," agreed Countess Vaughn James, also giving Karen 5 stars.
Second up in the Junior Singer category was Kailey Ervin, who sang "Down on My Knees." When she had finished, Naomi Judd gave Kailey 4 stars and told her, "You have a very distinctive style, and I love that. I want to salute your originality." "This woman sings with incredible authority, and got better and better moment by moment," agreed Ben Stein, also giving Kailey 4 stars. Citing Kailey's "beautiful, beautiful voice," Carol Leifer gave her 4 stars, as did Countess Vaughn James, adding, "You have excellent stage presence."
The judges scored Karen higher than Kailey, but America disagreed. When the home audience scoring was tallied, Kailey Ervin walked away with 33 stars and an invitation to next Thursday's Semi-Finals. |
