Loerelei Caylan-Sinco & TMarie Rodriguez
Performing first in the Junior Singer category tonight was Lorelei Caylan-Sinco, who sang "I Turn to You." When Lorelei had finished, Naomi Judd gave her 4 stars, telling her, "I think you're a seed that got planted through this whole process and through tonight. You just need time and nurturance, and you're going to blossom." "I thought at points she was reaching a little too far, but she is a dream come true," agreed Ben Stein, giving Lorelei another 4 stars. "I was knocked out," raved Carol Leifer, giving Lorelei 5 stars, "To me, your name means '10-year-old with powerful voice.'" Lil' Romeo also gave Lorelei 5 stars, because, "she's got a great voice for a 10-year-old, and she likes my favorite subject, math!"
The second Junior Singer was TMarie Rodriguez, who performed "Nobody's Supposed to Be Here." "Most kids your age are scared to go off the high dive, and you have all this verve," exclaimed Naomi Judd, giving TMarie 3 stars and some advice: "Get control of your pitch; keep working at it." Ben Stein concurred, also giving her 3 stars and commenting, "She grabbed the audience and yanked them by the collar, but then her voice started going up and down too much in a way that didn't seem to fit together." "Great presence," Carol Leifer told TMarie, giving her 4 stars, "I think you have a big future." "She's definitely got a tremendous voice," commented Master P as he gave TMarie 4 stars.
The judges favored Lorelei over TMarie 18-14 stars, and the home audience upheld their decision. With 35 stars, Lorelei Caylan-Sinco won tonight's Junior Singer category and will return tomorrow night for the Semi-Finals.
