Lisa Tucker, Kailey Ervin & Lorelei Caylan-Sinco
The Semi-Finals began with Junior Singer Lisa Tucker, who performed "Didn't We Almost Have it All?" When Lisa had finished, Naomi Judd gave her 5 stars, telling her, "God has blessed you with an extravagant amount of talent." "An absolute gift from God. You are perfect," agreed Ben stein, also giving her 5 stars. An incredulous Carol Leifer gave Lisa 4 stars, adding, "For a young person to put so much emotion and maturity into it, it's unbelievable!" "You were wonderful," commented Kelly Rowland, who also gave Lisa 4 stars.
The second Junior Singer tonight was Kailey Ervin, singing "Break it to Me Gently." "If you'll move to Nashville," Naomi Judd told Kailey as she gave her 4 stars, "I'll personally recommend an accountant, an agent, a record label and a manager for you." Ben Stein, however, disagreed. He gave Kailey 3 stars, explaining, "very, very talented, but I thought oversung by quite a bit." Carol Leifer strongly disagreed with Ben, giving Kailey 5 stars for her "clear, crystal, powerful voice." Kelly Rowland gave Kailey 4 stars and told her "It just looked so natural for you."
Lorelei Caylan-Sinco, tonight's third Semi-Finalist, sang "That's the Way it is." Naomi Judd gave Lorelei 4 stars and said, "We're going to have to leave it up to America." Ben Stein also gave Lorelei 4 stars, commenting, "Fantastic versatility and range; just up against very stiff competition." An impressed Carol Leifer gave Lorelei 5 stars, telling her, "I thought you were great yesterday, but today, you took it to a new level." "I can't wait to hear you when you become older because I know you will be a big star," added Kelly Rowland, giving Lorelei 4 stars.
The judges favored Lisa by a narrow margin. In the web scoring, Kailey won with 15 stars, but when the web and judges' scores were totaled, Lisa Tucker had 32 stars, one more than the other two, and won the Junior Singer Semi-Finals and will join Tiffany Evans in the Finals next Thursday, February 6 at 8pm ET/PT.
